Slave to Darkness Posted May 4, 2015 Share Posted May 4, 2015 So it's that time of year again, non stop all night painting sesh's, endless hours of painting trim, when the only people I talk to are the other fraeter (true story lol, the only human contact I have is my Job center advisor and the awkward moment when I get served by the cute girl in the bakery), and the voices in my head are the only company I have as I slip into madness Yes it's the 2015 ETL and this year we have to hold our title after our glorious 2014 victory, crushing all before us, the Black Templars talked a good fight but we soon found out they could spell ZEAL (and figured out how to change the font size and colour) but never checked the meaning of the word. I see this year they want to play with the other Codex Chapters so they don't get bulled, again. My first vow will be a small one just to get the ball rolling as I build the rest of the stuff needed for later vows (I'm kinda glad I bought 4 boxes of Raptors last ETL that never got used). So here we have Vow 1 I Slave to Darkness rise to the challenge of E TENEBRAE LUX and vow to complete... Chaos Lord Mark of Nurgle, Blight Grenades, Sigil of Corruption, Gift of Mutation, Black Mace. Success will bring eternal glory to the Unholy Pantheon and failure will doom me to bear the Badge of the Oathbreaker until the year-end A little pennance vow, just for Chaeron. I Slave to Darkness, vow to finish the bases on all of my entries into this years ETL, failure will result in me getting a tattoo of a my little pony (Chaerons choice of course) on my left Buttcheek. Kaldoth Posted May 4, 2015 Share Posted May 4, 2015 Off to a good start! My only criticism is that the two models are pretty much pulled directly from the boxes. Have you considered throwing some cables, PA shoulderpads/armor segments, or making the scythe or staff look a little more sci-fi and a little less fantasy? Slave to Darkness Posted May 4, 2015 Author Share Posted May 4, 2015 The bases will be what tie them into the 40k feel, mainly because I'm lacking suitable gubbins atm and partially because I love the minis that much I dont want to alter them, these are the first minis I've enjoyed painting in years, last time I enjoyed painting something this much I was skinny and had hair. I think that comes across in the painting, Forte knows how much I hate painting and he knows my usual standard, I just hope I can keep it up across all my vows without getting fed up and doing a half arsed job like last year. Here's where I'm as so far. Highlighting each individual spot was a bloody nightmare, I nearly had nerd rage and threw it but instead I walked away and had a break. Slave to Darkness Posted May 20, 2015 Author Share Posted May 20, 2015 I was thinking of some of the smaller whizzbangs and pointy whatnots from the talos kit, but the hat might obscure them from the front, so the idea of a 'cenobite' kinky nurse attendant to represent the churgion instead, still on the fence really, keep getting sidetracked by other things, annoyingly the urge to record music is tempting me most, at least building and sculpting would save prep time for later vows.
