Horus Luprecal, The Favoured Son, The Warmaster

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/O_hKg6-1eZBB09wesmJfYDZ5d5Eto1wu6oQbQBtv-eBAUR3d_wyJQqyeHqRH6Y-f_Qpr0tpYhXMW5ys7nmmM2kOI1NcjyRxQBI5zjCOh7JHELYI1QbaztfVvlTS_zpsm8wxm29a.jpeg

So here he is, Horus Luprecal in all his glory.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150622_083647_zpswqllphiq.jpg

Now I have to admit I put more effort into this model than I previously ever have AND HOPEFULLY IT SHOWS.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150622_083656_zpsfq2qzxpt.jpg

Every little detail was attentively tended to from the stair case to the eagles head.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150622_083703_zpsnrf4vzds.jpg

the only thing I have to do is paint the base surround black

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150622_083711_zps7a42jsns.jpg

maybe add some weathering powders on the base.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150622_083717_zpsvb9qr6d1.jpg

Im pretty pleased with the base in all honesty, I had no clue what I was doing so I just dug deep and tried to make a scenic base that blends into the background and doesn't draw attention away from the main piece.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150622_083724_zps6mg0vf0d.jpg

and a close up of the first face ive fully completed.

this was a great model and I look forward to my next item from the character series.

So here we Have Aurelian, the first book Black Library released that crashed the site, I remember sitting on my computer at 2am hitting refresh waiting for this book to go on sale. Unfortunately it sold out within an hour IIRC and even though I thought I placed my order I was unaware that as I crawled into bed the website had crashed and I wasn't succesfull in securing my copy. Black Library then went and released a gold and silver edition to make up for the crash, yet I refused to settle for silver and only gold would suffice so I went to ebay and spent a whopping $250Aus for a signed copy.

So here it is in all its beauty

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150522_094208_zpsneznzgwi.jpg

One of the best covers to date especially with the back cover with scribbling's of the Imperial Truth is a Lie

my favourite page to every heresy book is the proverbs, quotes and monologue page.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-05-22%2010.33.38_zpsdqzoi1qp.jpg

The interior artwork a nice beautifully illuminated yet subtly faded Word Bearers Icon.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-05-22%2010.33.18_zpsvtyulr62.jpg

If only this Avatar was a full piece of art id get it tattooed on my leg in an instant.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-05-22%2010.33.01_zps72ir5kdb.jpg

And the Artwork from the original visions of heresy of Magnus the red, John blanche truly created the grimdark vision that is 30k.

so now onto the story, after the serrated suns went into the eye and cannibalised there ship crew and brothers we have them return to the primarch of the XVIITh legion and pretty much say hey guys ummm you might not realise it but we've been gone for months and lorgar was like bitch please its been like 5 seconds. so lorgar decides to travel with the deamon engethel (SP?) and venture to the place where gods and mortals meet, now hes given a lengthy history lesson where he visits a dead elder crone world wrestles an avatar of khaine, has a D&M with Kairos Fateweaver and upsets one of the biggest baddest deamon princes of KHORNE!!

so why was the book a must have? because it goes in depth to the core of the heresy and helps perpetuate the nature of chaos and give us a reason why lorgar turned from the imperium and lays the groundwork for these once moustache twirling evildoers to become a relatable and human legion if not the most human legion, everything lorgar did was for humanity as a race to elevate us to symbiosis with the warp.

now if you haven't bought it read it or heard of it stop what your doing turn of Australia's next top model close the fridge door put down the beer and go order this.

Brotherhood of the Storm

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/c3_rD3TI1jeTcFcWR2tvwxFNeH-tBSsLL4oDs-Mxh5_Fq0HTt3vLyN_sVvm3phXq-YGtpOEB1YS_lxcKWtJesT5Jtu7ufI7DtbDa6UkkeybxPFW40UJf-Zwt4ZJ_zpshcux56wy.jpeg

So welcome to todays final update (as I have to watch the anime masterpiece Summerwars which was recommended to me by my mate Jason).

So here we have Brotherhood of the storm by Chris Wright, our first insight to the White Scars as a legion in the Horus Heresy Book Series. The only other exposure we have had to this mysterious legion is from one of the dark angel novels which showed the Ist legion relieving the Vth of Guard duty, and one other short story from one of the amalgamations we have had forced down our throats.

So what is Brotherhood of the storm about? Well its about 2 White scar Centurions; Torghun Khan the Terran and Shiban Khan a Chogoris (SP?) legionary. these 2 warriors are teamed up together in a joint operation towards the end of the Chondax (SP?) campaign to eliminate the last stronghold of the Orkish race within the galaxy, now straight away were introduced to completely different ideologies for warfare the Terran believes that supply chains and stringent plans are the key to success while our Chogoros (SP?) legionary gets caught up in the beauty and poetry of warfare and believes that speed is the successful key to any campaign.

long story short we see the terrans holding position while the Brotherhood of the storm push deeper into enemy territory to try catch a glimpse of the Primarch of the Vth Jaghati Khan in action, now before you say its just Mongolians in space stop, just stop.

this book is well written and shows us that the Vth legion are more than angry horseman and that they are a free legion that cannot function within the confines of the imperial Bureaucracy so they wish to be on the outer edges of the universe free to wage war and find peace within warfare.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150522_094550_zps8aajuzif.jpg

so stunning artwork on the cover and gives us a new variant of the scimitar pattern jet bike. Hopefully FW give us a model soon.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-05-22%2010.04.38_zpsgtcxbsc7.jpg

Not a very exciting hardback I know but I feel its simplicity works with the story inside.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-05-22%2010.04.19_zpscu5cplo4.jpg

Chris Wright giving a copy of his John Hancock

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-05-22%2010.04.05_zpsfyyt4ox4.jpg

A relatively small Dramatis Personae

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-05-22%2010.03.23_zpsfwuxvdkk.jpg

beautiful portraits of the Vth legion found inside, it upsets me that its only through the artwork we can see the individuality of each "Space Mongolian" I wish we could transfer this into 28mm scale.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-05-22%2010.03.05_zps6nzgbeok.jpg

A bit of a look at the Bullock Pattern Jetbike.

So why get this, for once we have the white scars as a individual component compared to the stereotypical typecasting of angry Asians on bikes, this book has everything from philosophy to broken English, miscommunication between races to ideological differences and the ability to rise above to support your fellow legionaries. well written and helps bring the Vth to the forefront of my favourite legions.

so pick it up when and if you can and prepare to read it with a smile on your face.

Corax: SoulForge

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/-feT26W6WQvNH0G5u0YaVmlhmtqKmWdWsIAC5xw-EqzcwVSlLoNEgpZuap1zdk0EoBDO5it7ifi7SrQ2xjctoxCUAMgtCsniveKfNXhsd7IaDpma-Aky0OrMX9c_zps7o9qipvp.jpeg

So its been a fortnight since my last Review, admittedly I haven't been motivated even with the latest Forgeworld Open Day.

But I'll persist through my boredom and hopefully my visit to the uk will reignite my passion, so let's continue with a look at Corax Soulforge. Now unfortunately this book felt like a flop and it reads like one of my fluff pieces flat pointless and a pain in the arse to Finish.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-05-22%2009.56.00_zpsvx7qrzpv.jpg

cover art is sub par, and honestly I'm tired of Corax being portrayed as a emo ninja.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-05-22%2009.56.15_zpshptyloa4.jpg

matt black cover nothing really stands out about this book unfortunately.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150522_094802_zpsb6cff3i0.jpg

The dust cover contains an extra short story, in all honesty if they used the chance to focus on the shadow masters rather than Corax himself I think this may have been a more successful path to follow.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150522_094843_zps5vshue9c.jpg

so first bit of internal artwork is just the RG logo, sometimes I wish we got more in depth analysis of gear equipment and schematics.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150522_094854_zpsvwgzguie.jpg

so just some extra artwork of Corax's flagship (iirc)

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20150522_094901_zpsnhx75qyy.jpg

and the blanche art Piece of Corvus Corax.

So Story wise Corax and hus super space marines crash a floating island on a forgeworld into another floating island and destroy a word bearer Forge where there creating Deamon war machines, Corax fights a word bearer who's ascending to Deamon hood and goes on a rant about how the primarchs are Sons of chaos etc etc.

honestly this book is hard to get excited over as its a poor Piece of literature that doesn't truly add to the legion or to the heresy in general.

for a primarch to spend time hitting outposts etc seems a bit far fetched considering the galaxy is in flames.

So long story short if you want it for your collection grab it but if you want a good read save your money as this book gives absolutely nothing to the reader.

Honestly it's my first negative Review not because I have hate for the RG but because it truly is a terrible story.

If the book had of been a short story over a limited edition novella I may have been less critical.

But after books like Aurellian, the purge & even the imperial truth this book is lacking true insight into the legion and it's operations.

I'll be honest as much flack as scorched earth (the next review) received it was at least a more enthralling tail of PTS and the space marine psyche, now I have not yet gotten around to reading my copy of Ravenlord but I will keep my bias in check as every novel deserves to be reviewed.

Could it not be seen as he is personally making sure the traitors supply lines are being disrupted or is it not written that well?

Corax send the majority of his troops to hit a more important target while he goes and explores a possible FW controlled by the Word Bearers.
