Index Heretek: The Order of the Osseous Cog

Recommended Posts

Name of Cabal

The Order of the Osseous Cog. This name reflects many things about the Order, at it's most basic their worship of Khorne in his aspect as the truest artisan of war, and also more esoteric concepts as the belief that the organic and mechanical must be kept in balance. To become a few neurons and a scrap of flesh entirely encased in metal is heresy to the Osseous Cog.

Home planet/planet army is based upon

The Osseous Cog have no homeworld, instead residing upon the Brazen Hunter, maintaining the weapons and wargear of the renegade Bone Walkers. They have been granted several decks for this purpose, which they also use to house the ever growing selection of daemon engines the warband employs.

Name of its Founder(s)

The founder is the current head of the Order, Magos Acheri Zolock, once classified as Magos Biologis.

Notable characters (including names of Titans, Knights etc)

Raros Sark, Kill-Clade Master: A towering figure of ceramite and cybernetics, Sark is built entirely for war. His four pistoned legs end in curved titanium laced bone blades, patterned after those found on certain tyranid bio-organisms. Two of his arms incorporate volkite chargers, while the other two bear a power axe and and a crystalline power fist. When the Osseous Cog bolster the Bone Walkers with Kill Clades, it is Sark who leads them.

History

The leader of the Order, Zolock was stationed on the Omnissiah Transcendent, attached to the 103rd Expeditionary Fleet alongside a sizeable World Eater contingent. When the Heresy broke out, the Transcendent threw it's lot in with the traitors, following the World Eaters to Terra. At the conclusion of the Siege, the Transcendent was destroyed, and Zolock and his coterie escaped in a saviour pod, ending up on the Brazen Hunter. Over time, the worship of Khorne started to coincide with the tenets of the Omnissiah. It started with small things - the consecration of a new tank with blood, the once disciplined tech-thralls becoming more warlike and feral.

The turning point came after the legion shattered at Skalathrax. Needing something to bolster his warband while he rebuilt his numbers, Lord Serjius of the Bone Walkers requested more powerful reinforcements than Kill-Clades. Zolock stepped up to the challenge, and using warplore traded from other fallen members of the Mechanicum, summoned a Soul Grinder from the Forge of Souls. With this, the order of the Osseous Cog was formed: dedicated to the balanced symbiosis of the machine, the mortal and the ephemeral.

Significant battles joined

937.M37: The purging of the space hulk Glory of Spite. In order for the Bone Walkers to retrieve supplies and information from the remains of the Strike Cruiser Cruor Angelus, they first had to clear the hulk of the orks infesting it. While the Bone Walkers bore the brunt, Zolock's forces acquitted themselves well enough that certain pacts were fulfilled, and in the days following the battle the Brass Scorpion Shash'gahar'arak'naloth was forged.
