ETL IV - Inquisitor Obeyron Sax retinue

Recommended Posts

As I vowed to complete my small Inquisitorial force, I wanted to centralise here the ongoing process towards completion.

Here are the (almost) first pictures of what I plan to paint before the deadline :

Obeyron Sax, inquisitor of the Ordo Hereticus :

Abbot Marculus, Ministorum Priest :

Weapon servitor (x3) :

Crusaders:

They are totally inspired by :

Agent Ψ, Culexus assassin

I think I'll have to resize a bit my pictures ...

Greenstuffing is rolling, I also have a few pressmold icons that I should complete this weekend.

I'd be glad to hear your C&C and suggestions smile.png

I've discovered them on the IG FB group page. The body part is normal IG, legs are either GS or Karskins. Helmets from FW I beleive, arms and shields from SM assault squad and sword from Catachan heavy weapon team. At least that's what one says.

Since I'll do copy & paste for some of the henchmen, I'm having a try at silicon molding. I tried with a Kasrkin backpack, to make sure it'll survive any mishappens ... I'll post pictures after my day @work.

I've finished the crusaders master shield, I'll cast it once I am happy with the results of the tests.

Once this is all done, the Crusaders should be ready for priming and basing.

The next step will be the inquisitor himself. I plan to chop off his colar because the actual head is not aligned with torso/spine... I should give him proper powerarmored boots too. You'll see as soon as possible.

Cheers.

Here are the pics of the test. At least, half of them, I need to do the other side of the mold. But it will have to wait, it's Mad Max time at the closest multiplex.

Noone suspect the power of LEGOS !!

Prep for the test :

The pour :

Unmolding :

http://www.krg-23.com/jeux/gw/images/bc/ETL4/th_IMAG0039.jpgI used sculping clay (plastline) as a base for the first half of the mold.

Results :

http://www.krg-23.com/jeux/gw/images/bc/ETL4/th_IMAG0040.jpg

Conclusion :

The results are rather meh. The backpack was not positioned horizontaly enough, therefore some silicon spilled under the antenna. I'll have to be carefull once all done. However the 'air escaping conducts' are rather good, I am happy with them.

All in all, it's 60% satisfactory.

Next time, I'll post up pictures of the finished mold.

I'm not too sure about chopping up a Kasrkin to make those crusaders. I'd be more inclined to green stuff the armor bits on the fatigues, and that helmet isn't quite right for kasrkin.

I totally agree, I don't want to lose time ripping appart a metal Kasrkin. I'll add some GS to the IG fatigues and make them look like Kasrkin, Karskin, err Kraskinwhatchamacallit...

So, here is the follow up for the molding process :

The pour, part 2 :

The block :

The tadaaam :

Conclusion :

I frakked it up. If you take a look at the 1st image, there is a sprue bit that would serve as the main spilling duct. I put it too close the side of the lego, there for now, at the bend, there is a hole ...

Since I am in a test phase, I'll try to fix with rubber bands a piece of plastic card and will try to cast.

An another hand, I pushed too hard on the backpack when molding the first half, therefore there are not much details on the second side of the mold ...

Anyway, more soon, once I've done a few more progress.

Lots of great ideas here. I like those crusaders you're inspired by. I second the suggestion of using regular plastic Cadians though. You can use the Forgeworld hazardous environment heads as they are very similar to Kasrkin heads.

Keep plugging on the moulding ... I've never even attempted that so can't offer any advice but good luck.

Thanks a lot for your support ! As of now, I am GSing (?) regular guardsmen with some reenforced armor plates. The molding process is on hold atm, I'd like to focus on those Crusaders and get them ready for priming and basing.

  • 1 month later...

So, I did not take or allowed me to take the time to get really involved in this project, it sounds like a fail sad.png

This is where I stand so far :

  • My crusaders

Pietr Trent, Jonah Akona and Scipio Aelios

  • Agent Ψ :

A few more washes and he'll be completed.

Gee, my pictures are just awfull, I'll use my SLR camera for the finish pictures, sorry about that.

Well, I eventually finished my Crusaders but had to go drink some Champagne at a friend's vacation house. So they're not painted and along with the rest of the retinue, nothing's finished yet.

So I'll have to shamely wear that badge :

Oh well, I enjoyed trying to compete with the other factions. Now, I am still facing the rest of the task, finishing the weapon servitors and Oberyon Sax himself. And finally, painting the whole lot !

Next time, I'll pledge smaller vows, so I'll be sure to finish them smile.png

Well, this is just the base model. I'll try to keep a limited colours palette. I'll aim at least to use white and blue. I'll see when having painted the priest.
