That jugger is looking very good. The copper is a great colour.

As for the hooves, I'd suggest a small amount of weathering to dirty them up a little bit. At the moment there's an odd contrast between the blood streaks (which are appropriately done) and the shinny clean hooves. I'd start with Typhus corrosion, but I'm sure you'd be able to manage something much better.

Thanks, I'm pleased with the way the blood turned out. I haven't used the technical paint much before.

My plan for the basing of my army is for them to be fighting on the "Arena Goreworld" which hasn't been named, but essentially the substrate is pulverized skulls and bones, so off-whitish with blood (some freshly spilled, some dried). Not sure if Typhus corrosion will work but I do have it, so I'll take a look.

I'm really liking your stuff, man. Great job, especially on that Shadowborne marine. Wish I hadn't hit my like quota. Very cool! In fact, this inspires me to get back to work on my own stuff and try to move it up a level.

Can't wait to see more!

Glad to hear it. Thanks very much for the kind words.

I know browsing other people's logs lights a fire under my ass, as well. I love my army, but the piles of grey plastic are getting pretty dull :biggrin.: . I've had plans upon plans upon plans for over 2 years. It was high time to get stuff done!

nice daemonkin army im.painting one myself but cant decide on a trim colour

Gracias, amigo.

What's your base color?

Khorne red

Well, there's always the ol' standard brass trim. Bone color seems more prominent in the Khorne Daemonkin codex, as well. Black is awesome, and red on red could be cool, too, with the smaller details painted in metallics or something to offer a little bit of contrast.

Might go for evil.scunz scarlet trim.over their black shoulder pads

Really good colors you picked there, it shows, that Khorne doesn't allways need to be just red with bronz accents.I like the use of blood-effect and how didn't over do it.  how you used it in the Mark of Khorne and Chaos-Star is also creative i didn't see that on Juggs before, but i quite like it, good job :smile.:

Thanks! I have so many juggernauts that I figured it would be neat to get creative with some alternate schemes. There will be some red/brass variants, for sure.

I love blood for the blood god technical paint. Look so damn good!

For my next breed of juggerspawn I'm working on a variant of these guys:

My brass isn't quite as red for this one, but another wash could do some good toward that end:

Maybe the next wash will be Reikland Fleshhade, as the first was Agrax Earthshade.

Thanks fellas, feedback itself is very inspiring. I've been slowly shifting from the idea that my army has to look professionally painted (because it probably never will) and if I actually put a bit of effort into tabletop quality paintjobs I can produce satisfactory work. That's all I need!

I ended up trying a wash of Reikland Fleshshade over the Agrax Earthshade, and I like the result:

That looks sexy as hell. I know nothing about painting so maybe superior results could be found with more experimenting or something, but to me that's a really nice shade, and kind of unique looking too.

A minor update on these black juggerspawn. I'm really not happy with these. I've been very sloppy, and with the limbs especially I screwed up the black. I think I forgot to paint a layer of black on the shoulders after the primer, then I did the trim, then I did the grey highlights and when I touched that part up with vallejo black it became obvious what happened.

Darn! Oh well. Tabletop quality is my goal, good enough is my mantra. I want to get this pile of plastic finished in my lifetime, so I have to accept this sort of thing.

Maybe by the time they're finished I'll be slightly happier with them.

Not much to report, unfortunately. I've been super busy with school and dealing with family health problems. I'll hopefully have things sorted out and get to work again soon.

In the mean time, I decided to support Fallout Hobbies Custom Decal Shop on Kickstarter.

Since I don't really plan on using decals for my Khorne Daemonkin army (or if I do, I'll print my own black transfers on waterslide paper I bought), I decided to have some decals printed for my homebrew CSM legion "The Shadowborne," slaves/followers of Be'lakor.

Here's how the sheets are gonna look:

They're pretty expensive, but I can't wait to use them! Printing black decals myself is one thing, but these are white and I bet they're gonna look bitchin' on all of Be'lakor's cronies.
