Thunderstrike Gauntlet

Because the Thunderstrike Gauntlet drops a Knight's Initiative to 1, does this mean that the Knight will always get the STAMP attack as it happens at the same Initiative step even if there in no model left after the Thunderstrike Gauntlet attack.

Only asking because in a recent battle my Warden destroyed a Land Raider in the with its Thunderstrike Gautlet and threw it at some Marines. I then wanted to STOMP the Marines that had emergency disembarked from the Land Raider and another unit of Marines nearby.

Or

Should I have only been able to STOMP the unit of Marines that were nearby.

What if I have destroyed the Land Raider with the chain sword on Initiative step 4, could I have then stomped any marines or is the combat ended.

The combat would have ended either way. You were attacking the transport. Once the transport is done, the combat is done. You would need to charge the content the following turn.

But the gauntlet and stomp attacks happen at the same time, so should both be resolved at the same time. i.e. the gauntlet attacks the transport and the stomp attacks the transport and then if possible some other nearby units.

Once the Gauntlet destroys the transport, you can still Hurl it as this is a rider to the Gauntlet's attack.  However, at this point the original target (the transport) has been destroyed.  The occupants are technically not in combat once they bail out, so the combat ends.  Initiative doesn't really have anything to do with it, except allowing you to choose whether to Stomp first or attack with the Gauntlet first.

If the Knight had somehow been in combat with two units, say the transport and a random flunky, the latter would keep the combat open and you could Stomp to your heart's content.
