I'm back!  I was having problems with photobucket, so I've moved to hosting on dakkadakka.  As a result, the images are much larger than usual, so I've spoilered them.  Below we have the repainted siege breaker.  I can live with myself again.

Was that the Inqusitorial crest on the ground?

No, just a suspiciously shaped blood splatter.

Or, at least, that's what Malcador wants you to think

I've got some stuff going on with Koschei, namely a new knife, bulked up chest plate and removal of lightning.  However, I feel like there is something wrong with his head.  Does anyone have any opinions?  Any good replacement suggestions?

In the worrying case that anyone has forgotten him since his DRAMATIC REVEAL!, here he is again (since the picture the silly lightning has gone away).

As requested, here are some closer shots of Koschei (post-beheading... yeah):

After I chopped off his head, I mulled for a while and despaired over the fact that no heads were large enough to be primarch scale.  Then, when rooting through my ork stuff, I found a trophy head that was comically oversized.  And thus it was that that Squig scraped out the sewn shut eyes, and the weird mouth, and sculpted in eye sockets of his own.  But in all seriousness, this head is very much WIP.  Still to come; eyes to go in the sockets, a moustache/beard, and longish hair, along with an interface with Koschei's armour.

I am actually in the camp that loves Lorgar's face (and it's sense of tiredness).  This is what drew me to the trophy head, along with its size, and is what (hopefully) I will convey with this sculpt, when it is finished.  Half-term is coming up, so expect a fully painted primarch soon!

Thanks for looking.

Oh, it's happening! (Excuse the http://image.bolterandchainsword.com//public/style_emoticons/default/censored.gif photos... again)

Treat your men as you would your own beloved sons, and they will follow you into the deepest valley

I put the 'proper' legion number in here, just FYI, rather than the BotLverse one.

I'm especially pleased with how the 60mm base conveys a real sense of emptiness; exactly what I was going for when I made him

The bases slot together (of course).  And below, a scale shot:

Pic dump over.  I hope you enjoy looking at him as much as I have painting him.

Next, daemon Koschei!  Something special for all you 'BotL'ers.

Squig out.

Hey ho bro. Grats on finishing your primarch model. I have mine still in the shelf in order to be worthy of painting Gwal.

So you did great in accomplishing this task.

Some critis though: dilute your colors more. You. Are killing your details. Maybe use drybrushing instead? You can achieve great details and awesome models with it. You see it on your base. That looks really good and because you used another technique, it has more details than your actual model.

But just try and try and try and you get behind the trick.

This should not discourage you. A finished primarch is more than most of us can present

Great job on that model! Is it your first primarch sculpt? I really like the base!

Hey man, if you want, I can give you alot of sculpting and painting tips if you want, its a great try, but if you wanna improve those skills further, feel free to PM me, I would love to help you improve even further and get even better results!

(And I echo Mikha on all, great first try)

Keep in mind that I'm using a camcorder for these pictures, which washes out much of the detail (e.g. the face has been drybrushed).  The face, IMO, is the weakest part of the model, but that is more the fault of the sculptor.  Whoever he is, he didn't put much time into the hair, and constantly wrecked all the detail with his thumb.  Whoever he is...

...

Yeah, that was me.  I'll try to get some better photos tomorrow.

So, I was about to work on Koschei's place in the Primarch mythology, when I realized I don't know what he acts like once he's a Daemon Primarch. So, what's his general attitude and personality, post-transformation?

....brain brain...gimme some.brain???

I would lile it if he is not comfortable with what happened to him. Always torn apart by his guilt. But that guilt makes him aggressive and then he blames the.others.for his failires and attacks. If the emperor had cjosen icarion it wouldn't have.come this far, if raktra was nicer, maybe they cozld have had a chamce of true peace, if alexandros smile weren't so bright....that smile....aaaaaarghhhh brain brain brain gimme brain.

That's how I imagined him when writing the testimony of Koschei

All I ever wanted was a world in which everyone was equal. All my life I saw the weak and innocent trodden on by the powerful, each of whom had the blood of a million innocents upon their hands. Everything I did, I did to protect the innocent and to see justice done against those with the blood of innocents on their hands in the hope that by doing so I could create a world where all were treated as brothers and sisters, equal by rights and means. Every battle I fought I fought for that ideal but every compliance I gave him my father turned the innocent into slaves and rewarded the powerful.

It took me a long time to realise that nobody else cared about my dream. My father actively spat on it. My brothers laughed or told me they admired my idealism. Humanity viewed me as nothing but a weapon with which to win the galaxy, a crude, killing implement to be disposed of once it has served its purpose. Alexandros and Icarion both called me their equal, Alexandros even claimed shared my dream whilst giving more.power to the powerful and taking away what few privileges the innocent and weak had had. But when it came to shedding blood to take an enemy fortress, it was my Godslayers they sent to die not their own sons. I saw my sons lie face down in the mud of a thousand breaches made in the walls of a thousand fortresses. I had sent them to die for my dream on the orders of brothers who ground my dreams into the dust.

Perhaps I should thank them, for they have shown me that the only true equality is in death. Never fussy, death's scythe makes no distinction between rich or poor, powerful or weak, innocent or guilty. That lesson at least, my father taught me well with his Imperium.

With the blessings of Nurgle I can now bring my dream to fruition. Free from the shackles of servitude to Icarion I can now march forth as a bearer of pestilence and suffering and when I am finished, all the galaxy shall be equal. Equal in death.

The bitter reverie of Koschei Kharkovic

Well isn't nurgle the god of life and dead? How about a very lively nurgle primarch? One who is so damn immune to the nurgle infections although he has them all. Like someone who is immune to hiv but can spread it nontheless?

Or he is the plague incarnate?

Immune to everything. Looking pretty healthy like a normal being but everything he touches is decaying and corroding?

Would be something new.

Oh now! Not him! The Grand Champion of Nurgle! The all loving! The prince of disgust! The slime bearer! Run! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!

In all seriousness that's actually a pretty cool concept; like a typhoid Mary of 40k. What if extended to the legion as well? So no random rotting; But maybe the Astartes when they're wounded don't heal quite right so apothecaries start using humans and synth skin for skin grafts and the Legion ended up a bunch of Frankensteins?

(Also before anyone says it the Monster's name is Frankenstein as when is asked his name he says he was not given one and since the Dr. Was as close to family as he had he takes the Frankenstein name)

I had an idea for a primarch like this a while back actually :) (I have too many ideas it's true). His name was Thanatos and he had a wierd connection with the warp which allowed him to see death and decay like Alexandros can see people's moods. I had it that he gradually fell to Nurgle and he got a somewhat Midas type curse where everything he touches decays and whithers beneath his touch, so his amour became all rusty and such, but he was immune to disease and decay himself and he embraced it as a blessing he could use to fight the enemies of mankind(which included the Emperor by that stage). He was eventually killed by Mortarion amidst the decaying remains of his homeworld(Styx) :D Edited by Sigismund229
