That is a fair point. He is supposed to be significantly larger, so S8 is possible.

I was having a couple of thoughts on the Legion Rules and wanted to offer up this for your consideration:

Strength of Iron: All models with this rule have Void Hardened Armour (see the Cold Void mission special rules on page 173 of The Horus Heresy Book One - Betrayal).

Combined with: (Legion Wargear)

Hardened Armour
Hardened armour automatically counts as being Void Hardened (see the Cold Void mission special rules on
page 173 of The Horus Heresy Book One - Betrayal) in missions where this is appropriate. Additionally failed
armour saves against template and blast weapons may be re-rolled. Units with Hardened armour reduce the
distance rolled for charges, sweeping advances and run moves by 1”. Any LA:IB unit with a 3+ armour save
may take Hardened armour for +25 points; any LA :IBunit with a 2+ armour save may take Hardened armour
for +45 points. LA:IB Independent characters may take Hardened armour for +10 points if they have a 3+ save; or +15
points if they have a 2+ save.

I actually came up with these for my own Scions of the Abyss, but I think with a little re-fluffing they would fit well for your Legion. It will emphasise their resilience particularly in Zone Mortalis games where they will be immune to the additional rending effects that come into play in certain conditions. And the re-rolls for failed saves is always nice even if it is restricted to only vs blasts/templates.

Hmm It might need some tweaking to make it different enough to be unique to the Legion.

It could be one of the Effects of Sire of The Iron Bears rule that LA:IB Model/Units equipped with Hardened Armor and within ~15" of Daer'dd gain the Relentless Special Rule?

Double post, sorry, but thought of something:

[name tbd by you] if Daer'dd is within x" of a unit in direct line of sight with the LA(IB) that gets destroyed, swept of otherwise removed from play, he gains the Rage and Rampage Special rules for the remainder of the game.

Would promote the idea that hes protective of his sons and cares for them and wreaks bloody vengeance upon the enemy that slays any of them. Something to consider.

Would also give a downside to him suddenly turning into a combat monster since youve lost a portion of your army (potentially very expensve portion too) to get there.

Redd, would you mind if Hectarion used his(admittedly meager in comparisson to Dear'dd) skills at creating things to make a weapon for Dear'dd?
I was thinking something like a spear or a hammer.

Griff, I think that is a great direction with the armor and very fitting for the legion.

S8 makes a lot of sense as it isn't hugely op if I have his gauntlets have him hitting at s10 anyway, and strength tests are all 6 fails anyway. S8 and Extremely Bulky would make him stand out from Insurrection and Canonverse Primarchs for sure.

Slip, I love the idea of that rule as it's very fluffy.

Hectarion, go for it! I'd be honored, and If absolutely nothing else it gives us more depth between our characters which is a huge plus in my opinion.

I've started to finally get Daer'dds rules straightened out in the first post, I wanted to get something up. I need to actually sit down on my desktop and have a go at it but I really wanted to get something up tonight

Okay so I am very excited, I'm wonderfully stuck in the middle of Northern Michigan's woods and it has REALLY helped me reconnect with core concepts of my legion. I cannot wait to get back to my computer to fully realize all of it
But I have rough rules in place for the legion of as a whole.

Also mind you many of these are just rules I've been spit balling and would love some input, I'm obviously trying to aim the Bears as a ponderous, tough, hard hitting in CC Army. I'd love any input and a lot of wargear is Character only

*Daer'dd Niimkiikaa
*Aandegg Niimkiikaa
*First Lord Chief Cass
*Fourth Lord Chief R.Damon Redd
*Legion Champion Solomon Grundy
*Chief Cleric Old Man R.L Cullen

*Totem Pattern Armour: Developed as a concept by Daer'dd for his elite Totem guard, Totem Armour is less a specific series of upgrades, starting off with Iron Bound or Artificer suits of power armour a series of motivation units and additional muscle fiber bundles, a force shield generator, an upgrade to the power plant and finished with either a Totem mask, Death Mask, or a spirit helm. They cast a very frightening visage on any battle field
(2+/5++ Hardened Armour, Relentless, +2" charge, may not run/GTG)

*Iron Bound Armour Iron bound armour is the result of tinkering by the legions Astartes, over time brothers will add hardend tungsten and adamantium plates and replace parts from various marks of armour so it fits their style of combat perfectly.
(2+, Hardened Armour, Relentless, may not Run/GTG)

*Tomahawk charges
Taking simple massed forged tomahawks brothers started adhering grenades to them so they could get long more precise throws. It became so popular that the legion now mass produces them.
(same as F&K grenades but 12")

*Tomahawks
The signature weapon of the Iron Bears, it is incredibly versatile both at short range and in close combat. It's compact design makes for a seriously capable hit as all the force is delivered into a very small area. These are produced by a dedicated forge on the moon Hurona Minora each Demiurge and Iron Smith working closely with the legionnaire the weapon is intended for
( Strength +1, ap 4, Melee, rending 12" pistol)

*Power Tomahawks
The powered version of Tomahawks
(s+2 ap3 Melee, rending 12" pistol)

*Warhawk
A specialized version of the Tomahawk with a chainblade and several clawed edges to catch weak points in armour or flesh.

No I know, there is going to be quiet they'll have restricted access to or completely lack of certain units and required purchases. Which should balance out everything out well, plus they're a fairly unorthodox legion without being TS or vlka fenryka. I just got excited to post last night.

I'm not sure yet obviously I'm still finishing all the rules. I'm guessing around 430-450 obviously he hits hard, but I'm not done with the rules yet so once he's "done" I'll roll out various fights and see what happens and adjust. I don't want him to be a Mary sue amongst Primarchs, but even if he was he's the first big death of the Insurrection, so while he could challenge the Daemon Primarchs in strength, he's already dead so that helps the story in my opinion.
And honestly I'm always open for any suggestions.

Remove the conussion and rending on his gauntlet, the first is kinda OP and the latter is unnecesary. I would say he should be around 460-475 pts. He is VERY tough.

Concussion I already removed, rending I want to keep as an "armour bane light" when he's attacking vehicles. Or should I just switch it to armour bane? To show him using the combination of his superhuman strength and the claws to tear through tanks.

Well he strikes at S9 already, so Rending will only every come into play vs an armour 15 target and those are few and far between. On the other hand Armourbane would make him pen with every attack he has vs basically any target with an armour value. Then again he is wounding basically every target he hits too. You could just give it wrecker to allow re-rolls vs vehicles which might be slightly less insane.

I also don't think you need +1S and Shred on the claws, wounding every other Primarch on 2s with re-rolls seems a little harsh, even with the lower WS. I'd go with one or the other, Shred at S8 is still awesome giving you 3+ wounds with re-rolls vs the tough Primarchs and 2+ vs the others. S9 would give you 2+ to wound vs everyone, but no re-rolls.

Redd I posted in the rules thread but I'll mention here also.

For the StormWalker what if you did something like Nemesis Dreadknights Personal Teleportation.

Changes type to Jump infantry and allows a once per game "shunt" of up to 30 inches. Can't charge after the shunt.

Just a thought.
Of Fire.

Fire gives light removing dark and shadow.

Fire gives purity driving out corruption.

Fire gives strength consuming weakness.

Well, those pretty much are his weapons in his rules. His gauntlets are supposed to be very form fitting, he needs none of the bulk of power fists. Actually a big inspiration when in thought up Daer'dd was the Character Pitt. So https://www.google.c...g3yCJowTa1_nFM:
