The elite of the elite of the Iron Bears legion, Astartes whom have proven themselves time and time again over the decades. Virtually all have sustained severe injuries and have exstensive augmetics. Legion apothecaries use drugs to further promote from the Biscopea and Ossmodula to further push the Astartes physically even closer to their gene father.
Whilst serving as Daer'dd's personal Wartribe they also serve as the six Lord Chief's personal retinues. Their value to the VIth Legion is such that they are rarely deployed in mass. But when they are it is said even the most heavily defended planets last less than day before it's over run.

Edit: if CCR made his character epitomize Hero Hammer by making him a badass in challenges, much like Sigismund, my Spiritual Big Bro, then it'd give him a bit more leeway in terms of Raw Power; make him the Legion Champion or something?

I missed this before, but yeah this pretty much exactly what he's supposed to be, he's the Master Slayer, which means if there is an Avatar, Ork warboss or some other monstrosity/combat beast on the battlefield he'd be Oathbound by legion tradition to kill it or die trying.

Maybe I'll add a rule to represent this.

Amongst the most revered of the VIth legions troops, Warborn Clan are always amongst the first strike. Whilst they lack true armour killing abilities, they are an absolute nightmare for the opposing enemies troop. Deep striking into the heart of the enemy and slaughtering them with a frightening volume of firepower.

As I read it, its base a 6 Man Squad meaning that they can't take a 10 Slot Transport as a Dedicated since they wouldnt be able to all fit inside.

Also, an In-built combi-bolter doesnt make sense to be upgraded to a Plasma Blaster since its 2 Plasma Guns strapped together, essentially, and those are bigger than normal Bolters.

Yeah I didn't think about that. I'd like to keep the twin linked thing going on the power fists should I just go with twin linked plasma guns?

Thing is, a Twin-Linked Plasma Gun is essentially even better: Longer Range + Rapid Fire and you can re-roll a Gets Hot! vs the plasma Blasters 18" Assault 2.

I'd probably go with Combi-Weapon or Standard Gun Option (Single Plasma/Melta/Flamer/Volkite).

You also gotta consider that they also have a Heavy Weapon in addition to this.

+++

Going to an Extreme, the Squad, as is, could shoot 2 Plasma Blaster Shots +1 Plasma Cannon Shot Each (if they can shoot 2 guns, normally you aren't allowed) then charge afterwards. So at most, 8 Blaster Shots + 4 x3" Plasma Blasts which is a lot especially since they can gain +1BS due to the Cognis-Signum.

+++

Additionally, add the Stipulation that the Warclaw also comes with a built-in combi-bolter or you'd technically lose it when swapping out.

Humm, I don't necessarily think it's a good idea giving them both the twin-linked heavy bolters and integrated combi-bolters in the power fists: it seems a bit over the top to me... I mean, even dedicated centurion units in 40k can only have a single heavy bolter per arm, why could a cataphract suddenly be able to lug around a twin-linked one in one arm ? Couldn't it simply be a heavy bolter or even a master crafted heavy bolter ? It would be slightly more plausible I believe...

Fair point, and I suggestion I shall take!
Ohh and I forgot to mention the reason I thought of a twin linked HB is because Dreads and TDA carry very similar weaponry.

In brutal armoured assaults and boarding actions the Phalanx Leviathans are an invaluable resource to the legion. Often creating barriers for other clans to fire over, or creating an opening for Slayer Clans to assualt from.

Rhinos in the VIth legion:
Unlike most legions the Iron Bears have had to extensively modify the RH1N0 chassis for use, as their naturally large nature and their use of bulky heavy armour patterns makes transport for squadrons virtually impossible.

Instead most Rhinos have been converted into typical fire support platforms such as the Predators including the legion exclusive Mauler pattern, and various whirlwind and anti air platforms.

The Rhino does find use amongst Reconnaissance and Seeker clans. Though modified into a Grav-Rhino akin to those used by the Legio Custodes. Typically armed with external weapon systems including Combi-weapons, hunter killer missiles, Havoc missile systems, and often a pintle mounted Heavy Bolter. It also bears a number of defensive systems including cameleolion fields, smoke launchers and other various counter measures to allow the clans to be quickly and quietly inserted deep into enemy territory to gain information, launch hit and run/saboteur operations, and preform assassination missions.

The most unique adaptation of the Rhino are the walker Thunderbeast variants. Both feature fixed forward hull mounted plasma weapons, a large toothed dozer type fixture. Either a turret mounting a Kheres Assault Cannon system, or an Accelerator Autocannon system. In addition to further fixed position missile systems. The thunderbeast has been an invaluable addition when fighting in dense uneven terrain.

My word of caution for so much specialist legion units qnd equipement is that you dont start stepping on the toes of other legions that do similar.

The trap to avoid here is that of your legion being able to do every and anything just as good as other legions who specialize in the field.

Its why theres a sweet spot of 2-3 legion units (including vehicles) max in the cannonverse.

Hey I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes, or trying to make the Bears the best. I'm just having fun creating. When I started the Insurrection Varients thread I intended it for vehicles any legion could use and I still do. Anything I do come up with as far as vehicles go I was hoping someone else might be interested in using in their legion. Mostly I'm just having fun dreaming up things I'd like to see.

As far as vehicles, go wild, lord knows we need a LOT more.

Like A LOT More.

To the point where FW themselves aren't even done making Vehicles.

Well between the rite of war and special units they play exactly how I think they should either Artillery or deep striking Warborn in the back pushing enemy units forward into into Slayers and Phalanx clans with tactical clans cutting them Down as they advance in to tomahawks or be decimated by fire.

I'll post vehicles tomorrow.

I played a "quick" game tonight with the Bears and their rules and right of war. I ended up barely getting the win. But the scary thing is my average cost per model was 93.8 points. So exactly as I thought Bears are going to be outnumbered in game always.

...thats not a lot of stuff for 3.5k O-o Though thats not really a problem since your Totem Guard were essentially each a Preator :P

Still, that is quite shocking.

I think your Legion Wargear might be a bit too widespread? I know that its the theme of your legion but from a gameplay perspective this is very much a case of More Toys & Less Boys vs More Boys & Less Toys.

Still, the fact that you won (vs what might I inquire?) speaks of the Power of your Legions Infantry and does adequately represent them.

However, when calculating the averages of your Pionts-Per-Marine (ppm), did you take Daer'dd into account as well as Aandeg? Because I feel that their cost as singular models might've skewed the results a bit.

Yeah I did account in Daer'dd and Aandeg in points but I did so because they do have effects on units.

I was facing Tzeench Daemons with a VERY experienced player Fateweaver and all.

No pics, building a light box right now and hopefully I can get pics up in the next week or two.

Yeah just the way I've always played. I started in second, I'll always take virtually every option. A lot of times I'll lose in a competive situation but I love seeing "heroic" stands and such.

I'm pretty happy with play testing so far honestly.
