The Lupine Crusades: With new Dreadnought pictures!

Hello brothers! I have just recently felt confident enough to post up my units as my painting has gotten somewhat okay. I present a taste for now, as I need to upload more. Here is the Sciaran Battle Tank: Spear of God.

Thank you for sharing! (I've forgotten to mention it in the first post, the only thing you could improve is the edges of black detail on the white armour - it is a bit uneven in places. But the blacks are just super-crispy, they look amazing.)

I too have a recast Sicaran and it seems to have similar faults to that one you have. What's really comforting is how well a layer of paint and colour hides the miscast/warped elements.

I agree with Brother Cristopher, just a little touch up near some of the white areas and this bad boy looks good to go.

I'd like to see a few other angles because I am considering getting one of these myself.

More pictures! Here is a picture of the Spear of God with it's brother the Sword of God, along with the Land Raider Anvil of God. The Crusades Champion is right there as well. As well as the Chaplin. All are works in progress.

Some observations:

The current set up is very symmetrical. There's nothing particularly wrong with that, but you might consider making things off center so that the eye flows across the board.

In general, i.e. you're not left handed like I am, the mind's eye flows from upper left to lower right. So you want to place things that facilitate that flow, not interrupt it.

So looking at your board, I would do a couple of things:

1. In the back, I would slide the building piece to the left so that it touches the left back corner. As one looks at the board, the higher piece of terrain will grab the eye and draw it down to the board base.

2. I would shift the "wall/fortification" to the right so that the corner of the piece is near the right front corner. That is the termination point of the display. The little bit where the figures are behind needs to go somewhere else. I'll get to that in a bit.

3. Next, staging the models you have. First thing to keep in mind is to not overdo the figure count so that the board doesn't look crowded. You need some space between units so that the eye gets a chance to evaluate them. So decide how much should be on the board.

4. To support the visual flow, I would consider placing the knight towards the left side back, in front of the wall. You'll have to fiddle with this to see what looks right vs. room for other stuff.

5. Sicarians: Awesome looking tanks. I think I would shoot to have one midway between the left back corner and the right front corner. The second one should be closer to the right front corner, possibly closest to the termination point.

6. The other smaller terrain bits should probably slide over to the left front corner to make another anchor point. You can put infantry behind this.

7. Drop Pods...nice models, but they take up a lot of space as well. I would consider putting them wings up and in the back on the right side. They should create a parallel line with the visual flow, i.e. wall -> knight -> sicarius 1 -> sicarius 2, I would put one toward the back center-ish and the the other on the right towards the center of the right edge.

8. You may decide that you want the pods "wings down" in order to display the infantry they are carrying, just realize that is more real estate and that you want to avoid it looking too crowded.

No problem! I love helping! Also I just played a 4000 point game against Space Wolves. I will post pictures and such later! It was a blood bath but it was a great game.

Though it's been some time since you've posted it, I must say I love the display board concept. It looks pretty impressive. Unfortunately I'm too tired to provide any constructive feedback. So apparently I'm here just to say "I like looking at other people's displayed toy soldiers and resin tanks".

Regarding your display board concept, I'll second all that Honda said with one deviation though.

I don't think marines in general, and templars in particular would deploy pods in such a defensive position, it seems clunky.

The Emperor's Champion Alaric. The Skulls on his base depict how many Warlords he has killed. He currently has eight. This incarnation is titled "Alaric, Victory Assured" and the second incarnation is awaiting a worthy pair of legs. That incarnation is titled "Alaric, in Challenge."

Well there are two versions so maybe start on him. Though I find the idea of making a pile on another base interesting. Just have a pile of skulls follow him everywhere he goes lol.
