IL IX - The Warbringers (thread 1)

I always thought the Imperium was closer to the Holy-Roman Empire... But Russian-Rome is an interesting analogy :smile.:

The Steel Guard colours look really nice there! I wonder if that khaki could be integrated into one of the newer Fellowships (possibly the Black Guard since their outlook seems to ressemble that of the Steel Guard - I could easily imagine a Black Guard leader wearing that kind of Khaki coat)

Also, I've thought of a possible title for Flash Valant if it isn't too late: Syndic (I got the idea from playing Hamburg and Lybaeck in Europa Universalis, and since the Warbringer Star Lords are based more on the Hanseatic League then the British Empire I thought it could work rather well :smile.: )

Also, regarding the coats the Fellowships wear, I was wondering if you were thinking more of a trenchcoat kind of thing, or the kind of coat that officers wore on their shoulders in the Napoleonic era (read "pelisse")?

For reference purposes:

Crn fortress-monasteries: the Warbringers have several facilities that count as such. The Alabaster Palace is where Kozja reigns, oaths are sworn, and councils are held. Visualize golden domes/cones and marble spires. The Fortress of Asklep is where recruitment and training are given, as well as home to the most devious experiments. It is an ugly monolithic ziggurat, and goes deep underground. Lastly, the Trigolv is an hollowed-out mountain where the Novadeka has its headquarters.

If there's anything you guys can do, it'd be to figure out what Warbingers Orders would bear green and brown heraldry.

Sooo...

1. I've just thought it might be best not to call them "Orders" so we don't get confused with loyalist "Orders" that are a different beast all together. "Offices"? "Estates"? "Fraternity"? "Society"?

2. Green and Brown or Green or Brown?

3. Brown is supposed to be seen as the colour of stone, so perhaps an order of Castellans of Strelia, charged with fortifying and protecting the capital of the Suzerainty? (giving the possibility of creating a russian tarch equivalent for BotL)

4. Green is the colour of fertility, so it could be another apothecary order, that is charged with the creation of the bulk of the legion, rather then with experimentation. It could also be an order formed in the wake of the Vizenko prosecution?

A Warbringer 'Order' bearing green and brown? Earthly colors. I suggest an Order who either excels at subterranean operations or has a much closer relationship with the average citizen of the Suzerainty.

I phrased that incorrectly, I meant two orders, onewearing green, the other brown. Thørn, your suggestion is so good the Home Guard may get a unit. Terminators with shielded combi-boltgun and power sword...

Oooh, sapper specialists? Yes please!!!

For instance :smile.: I was actually just thinking of a special weapon option, I can't remember if you had developped one for the warbringers.

Actually, I prefer Simison's idea for the sappers when compared to a second apothecary order, so how about green for the "home guard" and brown for sappers?

-The Terran Imperium clearly takes a lot from Rome, but AFAIK the Unification of Terra started from the Urals. Thus the Russian part.

-Could be. The Steel Troops already have several cues from both Terran and Vostalan cultures, can't see a Steel Tyrant of the Old Ninth not having a place in the Blackguard.

-A fine title, a fine historical inspiration, and a fine game. Plus it can be false-etymologized from something like SYNtagmatic DICtator.

-Depends on the Fellowship in question. The Bogatyry are all about straightforward capes, Asklepians bear a variety of tabards, loinclothes, and robes, the Blackguard bear the color on their armor directly, the Tarch are capes again, the Valdovas and Steeltroops I envision having more trenchcoat-ish stuff.
