Bloody Harvest double final

The Bloody Harvest (more to come)

Geenseed

What little geenseed that has been extracted from corpses of members of The Bloody Harvest all bear the hallmarks of sons of Sanguinius, some has been from Blood Angels but just as much has been from Flesh Tearers, Archangels and various other chapters of Blood Angel Descent, it is thus theorised that only Blood Angels successors are allowed to join the warband (barring of course, the cultists that throng to its call)

Little is known of the warband's original inception though it appears that it was originally simply formed of renegades from multiple different chapters banding together in the service of Khorne. Since that time a coup was led by Drakos Gorenash with most of the members being slain in Khornes name and replaced by the descendants of Sanguinius

Notable members

Overlord of The Bloody Harvest Drakos Gorenash:

Drakos used to be a Flesh Tearer, before doing what many had before him and forgetting himself in the heat of battle. When the fog of the Red Thirst had left him all that was left of the battlefield were mutilated bodies, Imperial Guardsmen, Orks and Flesh Tearers alike littered the ground around him, and his trusty eviscerater was lodged in the helmet of the marine who had once been his sergeant. Knowing what would happen next Drakos swore his soul to Khorne in return for somehow escaping his dire situation. It was then that The Bloody Harvest made planet-fall. Drakos joined them and then half a century later, in the middle with a vicious war against a slaneshi cult, he staged a coup, Purging those not of the blood of Sanguinius from its ranks, Drakos became the leader of the Bloody Harvest.

Lord of the Blood Wing Alesandro Valleta

Valleta was once a proud member of the Archangels space marine chapter, but when faced with an extremely trying situation that caused him nothing but frustration he declared his succession from the imperium and dragging half of the 6th company with him. When his insurrection was eventually crushed, he, along with the Librarian Arren Zou and his honour guard, fled into an area of realspace instability. Arren harnessed the bloodshed of their revolution and focused it at the instability which created a tear in reality which they fled. They discovered that this tear led them into the Eye of Terror. In the Eye they encountered Drakos to whom Alesandro offered his services. Drakos accepted and since then he and his surviving honour guard, redubbed the Blood Wing have acted as scouts, mobile harrying units, and weapons of fear in the wars and campaigns of The Bloody Harvest

Haemomancer Arren Zou:

Arren Zou was a librarian of the Archangels and was present at the Bordas Betrayal. It was thanks to him that Alesandro managed to flee his seemingly assured destruction, by detecting an instability and using the immense amount of blood that had been spilt to tear a whole in the immaterium, uttering the All-Slayers name as he did so. A vortex of swirling blood appeared, inside of which the winds of the raw power of chaos, the immaterium howled like some kind of demented beast. One by one Alesandro and his honour guard entered the portal, though it took much of Arren's persuasion to convince them to do so. When Arren himself stepped through last, and one the other side fell into a deep slumber. Only because of the fact they he had saved him did Alesandro instruct Arren to be cared for. When he awoke he could no longer remember much of his magic, but he had an amazing mastery over blood, and the ways of summoning daemons, Arren deemed it a more than fair trade and gave a thousand thanks to Khorne. Since then he has become a preacher of the power of Khorne, but the first, and rightly feared Haemomancer, one whose magic is dedicated to the Lord of Skulls

The Blood Wing

The Blood Wing are a group of warriors who once served as Alesandro Valleta's honour guard. Now they, like him, have fallen to the worship of Khorne. Like their lord they have become cruel and spiteful. Their personalities resonating in the warp strongly enough to begin to affect a change over the Blood God's warriors. Where once they wore beautiful deathmasks, they now wear the snarling visage of daemons. Where once they flew through the air on beautifully ornate jetpacks, with decorative wings they now fly with the wings of bats, their defunct jetpacks gaining a sentience of its own that delights in creating bursts of fire to incinerate foes. The members of the Blood Wing are no longer post-motal space marines, they are something darker, something greater. Where they go they sow terror and fear as they materialise almost out of nothing to cut a bloody path through unsuspecting prey. Even in this the blood god has blessed them. Now they have the ability to switch to prey-sight as they name it. A way of seeing the world in grey scale, with only the pumping blood of their foes in vivid colour.

Notable Conflicts

Averon Massacre: The Bloody Harvest mostly stayed within the warp and simply fought and skirmished against other rival warbands, but with the addition of Valleta and his so called Blood Wing, they struck out into realspace for nearly the first time since they had fallen. Utilising a combination of speed, terror tactics, and in the later stages outright numbers, The Bloody Harvest caused carnage across Averon and its neighbouring planets, coming into contact with and destroying and regiment of Cadians, as well as the PDF's of three planets

Bordas Betrayal: During the time of what would later be known as the Bordas Betrayal, Alesandro Valleta was the 6th company master, and was viewed by many as the main candidate to replace Araquiel Harbex as the new chapter master, Araquiel himself was subtlety throwing tests at Alesandro to see how he would handle them. His final test was set for the Bordas system, an area of constant Chaos incursion. Araquiel gave Valleta the 6th company but put him under the command of an Astra Millitarum Commander from the Vostroyans. This was mainly a test of his patience and of his diplomacy skills. In this it was a major failure as Valleta and many of the 6th company grew tired quickly of the Vostroyans, who could match them for their Arrogance. Valleta led a full half of the company to the call of Chaos and went around the planet slaughtering the entire Imperial Guard detachment. The insurrection was only put down by the intervention of the 3rd company. Alesandro and his honour guard managed to escape into the warp, where they quickly found allies in The Bloody Harvest

Specialised Troops and Tactics

Unholy Berserkers: Unlike other Khornate warbands, the Bloody Harvest do not employ former World Eaters as the shock troops known as Khorne Berserkers, instead they use their comrades that have fallen to the black rage, Where once a chaplain would guide these righteous  incarnations of the emperors fury Dark Apostles lead them onwards to do their grizzly work. To become a member of the Bloody Harvest means to slay one of these Unholy Beserkers in single combat, a task deemed exceedingly difficult as the bersekers genetic rage and fury is only increased and boosted by worship of the blood god. The ironic part of this is that these cursed space marines still believe themselves loyal, and that the loyalist space marines that kill are the traitors, this is a source of endless idle amusement to the saner members of the warband

Good start! As you say, there's more to come, so I won't ask too many questions about it yet. These are the two I do have though:

Did you come up with the word haemomancer ? Pretty nice sciencyvibe to blood magic. However, how do you plan to put this in practice ? Khorne doesn't like psykers.

What is the Blood Wing ? Are they Alesandro's honour guard ? If that is the case, then why are they called the Blood Wing ? Are they known for their skills as pilots or using jump packs ? Or something else entirely ?

I started a thread over in the Chaos forum asking if a Khornate Psyker was ok, the majority answer was yes, ith clear limitations on what they can and cannot do. The Blood wing are the remnants of Alesandro's body guard plus a few new members picked up from the warband. The name Blood Wing im thinking a proper reason, but more just to separate them from the main warband as they consider themselves apart and also because they occasionally operate separately to the warband. And becuase they are no longer fully astartes....

Oh I'm surprised about that, could you give me a link so I can see ? (I mean, it's logical enough to me that someone has to summon Khornate daemons, it's just that I've always been warned against doing Khornate psykers...)

http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/312422-khornate-sorcerers/ out of the 56 replies, I would say around 28 in favour, 20 not in favour, and a few semi-off topic stuff

good start EesiOh

i thought the arguments 'for' in that thread were workable for fiction.

neat idea with the internal skirmishes.

question re:  "Averon Massacre: The Bloody Harvest mostly stayed within the warp and simply fought and skirmished against other rival warbands"

is that like within the eye of terror or similar warp effected realspace area, or actually within the warp warp?

I have think where they are there is some instability that offers a dangerous passage to they Eye of Terror and back. I will add that in somewhere in the Bordas betrayal I think (alesandro and his chosen flee into an area of instability as a last ditch chance and are transported to the Eye, they then work out the pathway needed for this for future reference.)

Good start, mate.

Funny thing is that I am also writing on a BA warband. msn-wink.gif And no, we did not come to a agreement with our warbands. Just pure accident.

I'm excited to see more. Hopefully I get it my stuff done in time. ^^"
