I, Boudan, rise to the challenge of From Rage to Salvation and vow to complete one (1) Storm Eagle on or before November 30th, 2015. Should I bring honour to the Lamenters Chapter, I will proudly wear the IRATUS DOMINUS badge; should I fail I will display the CARCERES IRA.

I do love a last minute vow (provided they are completed of course!) but this is an outstanding one

What are you planning to do to it? Internals, highlights, detail, etc?

No internals save for the cockpit. I grieved putting in together without painting internally, but I was unwisely trying to prepare for a local tourney which I lost at immediately.

I mostly finished a proper base coat last night (after vowing).

The rest of the week is the cockpit, washes, optics, weapons and assembly. I don't have a proper base yet, so nothing in that regard.

Awesome vow Boudan!  Glad to see a fellow Lamenter coming through in the clutch.

I am done with mine tonight.  Which is good, because I'm going out of town tomorrow.

I tried something new with the Command Squad Champion.  And I don't like how it turned out.  But I'll leave him alone for a while and see if he grows on me.  Really pleased with my vets and Captain though.

Nice gritty squad there, congrats and enjoy your gallery_62972_10568_30745.jpg!

Always great to see people using the SG wings as Storm Shields but no one ever shows how they joined the fist to the them. Did you just use a normal arm/fist and glue it in the centre?

I finished working on my Storm Eagle tonight, save for applying a custom decal that a generous B&C veteran is in the process of designing and releasing to the public. My painting task is complete though, so my vow is satisfied in my heart.

Thanks to Jolemai and the Blood Angels sub-forum for getting my painting and Warhammer 40K blood pumping again. This event was just what I needed to bust out of a 2+ month slump.

Did some work on the Deredeo this evening. Last minute work FTW.

He just needs the final edges on the red and he should be done :biggrin.:

His base has the first layer of Ironearth on too - will do another glob in the morning so it's dry and ready to paint/ glue in the evening!

Also with his considerably more blinged out Bro from the Heresy

Because of the irregular surfaces, I used green stuff to reinforce the connection.  But it is just glued on there.  I didn't feel comfortable pinning the wing, because it is so thin. . .

Nice work guys!

Boudan, how did you find the Storm Eagle kit to put together? I've heard some horror stories...

Tougher than anything I've built before or since.  The main hull couldn't be properly aligned to meet all points no matter how much effort I put into reshaping.  I'm no wizard with greenstuff but I took a shot at filling gaps but it didn't help much. Honestly, the experience put me off my hobby for a few days after I finally finished the build.  I couldn't recommend the experience to anyone, despite my love of the design and Forgeworld aircraft in general.  Casual hobbyists like me should tread with great caution.
