That's it now - Heroes of the Guard is officially closed for new entrants! That means one week left until the final deadline!

If you're already taking part but haven't pledged your secondary vow don't worry, you can still do so as you're already conscripted ;) The last ever Regiments challenge is on the final stretch, let's give it all that we've got and aim for that 100%.

...

Audemus you've done a good job, don't forget you just need the individual vow background pieces for the full ranks! It can be whatever you want to do about the vow models; about the entire platoon or a single soldier for example smile.png

Well then...ask and you shall receive! I have formatted the history of the above detachment in the same manner that I am handling the history of the Regiment, this communique focuses on the detachment of Hostile Environment Guardsmen and the hard choices made on the ground shortly after the deployment of the Viral Bomb.

Very fancy indeed! Good job thumbsup.gif I'm just doing a bit of work on my model now, my Badab Black wash expired and gave him a bad coating which is bad as the wash covers almost the entire model... Fortunately some watered down greens to reapply have recovered it for the most part. A little bit more work this morning and once he's dried I'll post up an update shot smile.png

Less than a week remaining remember, and there's a lot of empty links on the entrants list...

He is complete ! All hail the not-mighty-at-all Karl Boritzoff, Munitorum Advisor, Master of Logistic and vox-caster of the XIVth.

And some fluff :

Hidden Content
Karl Boritzoff, son of Boritz, of the glorious House Vlödenbrot, is the youngest son of a noble family settled on Donia, in the Pacificus Sector. A harsh position, the honour of a military career had already been awarded to his two eldest brothers whereas his first-born sister being a prominent member of the local Ordo Hereticus mission. The fourth brother chose an original path as a rogue trader ++ all records about him are lost or deleted++ Karl had little choice, between a carrier in the Ecclesiarchy, the Astronomica or the Administratum. Being unkin to holy books and to Warp travels, he was sent to the Fundamentae Mathematicae Schola. There, he show a natural ability to manipulate numbers and classmates. Satisfying a mathematical, cold, methodical logic, he soon turned out to be a real politician. In 997M41, at the age of 14, he integrated the Departmento Munitorium to a duty station quite low in the chain of command of Vrynchia Secundus. But, manipulating and influencing, he reached the top of the planetary chain of command in barely 3 years. 4 years later, he rose to the global command of the entire sub-sector, as Prefectus. But the young man, consumed by ambition, could not be satisfied with this office. He imagined himself seconding the Master of Administratum, where he could be seen by the Emperor’s own eyes. His political friendships and some cleverly distributed bribes enabled him to obtain the promise of an office as Ordinates within Administratum on Holy Terra. But Boritzoff tactics would obviously make him many enemies. Between bribes, assassination attempts and other political maneuvers, his rivals managed to discredit him. He fell from grace. Instead of Terra, he was assigned to a fleet-based regiment in a far away area, the Fourteenth Kataris. Karl was assigned to the Wrath of the Righteous, to be regimental advisor of Marshal-Commissar De Veer. He refused that the young man joined his retinue : the high commander actually did not appreciate that the big wigs forces his hand. Our aristocrat was then degraded to the position of vox-caster in the disciplinary platoon of the 7th Company. As one might have expected, Karl’s arrogance and incompetence in matters of military displeased his officers and fellow soldiers. But bullying and humiliation taught him humility while soldiering hardened him. Boritzoff became after a few years of service an expert in coordinating artillery strikes and air support. No man in the 7th ever lacked ammunition in battle, never a Griffon found itself short of shells, no a squad never felt dearth. Fortunately, three years after setting foot on the Wrath of the Righteous, some high-placed protector had maneuvered for the boy. The Marshall-Commissar had to accept him within his headquarters. Effective administrator, natural logistician, Karl Boritzoff has managed to become indispensable in the De Veer’s retinue. However, Karl shall not rest, De Veer being particularly swift to punish the lack of enthusiasm to serve the Fourteenth…

The Regiment story will arrive soon. It is written, but got some translations to do in order to fully complete my vow ! smile.png

Nicely done Guilloom, I see he has made it into your avatar as well ;) I like the pages on the book and you can't go wrong with a red hat :D

A quick update from me, I'm in a bit of a rush so it's a poor picture but fortunately there isn't much detail to see at this stage:

Very nice adviser Guilloom, especially the book is really cool. The writing, it looks a little like decals, but I cannot quite tell from where.

Also reporting in that a basecoat has been applied to the blessed flak vests and uniforms which the Emperor has seen it fit to provide us with!

regiment fluff

Alcari

The regiments of Alcazar are sometimes known by the ironic nickname of “The Immobile Infantry.” Although the regiments from this hive world are drop troops and well equipped with APCs they are well known throughout the surrounding sectors for their ability to withstand almost any foe when deployed with their Bulwark class drop forts. This stoic defensive nature is bred into the Alcari by the fierce warfare that is waged between the various ruling guild houses of Alcazar over the planets resources and various mercantile contracts with the Imperium.
The Imperium often steps in to quell any serious threat to the planets production this hostility brings, be it with the barely veiled threats of imperial negotiators or the touch of an assassin’s blade.
The continuous threat of warfare has led to the surface of Alcazar being covered in citadels and fortress complexes, built by the various guilds to secure their territory and provide staging posts for their own opportunistic raids. With each house needing a standing body of troops, every worker is trained to use a las gun be it in defence or attack and so recruits raised from Alcazar are not unversed in the practice of killing, a highly valued skill in the Imperial Guard.
The innate rivalry and competition between regiments raised from different regions of Alcazar provides extra motivation to drive on or hold fast for the victory honours, leading to some truly heroic actions but also some devastating defeats as regiments over stretch themselves in the race for glory.
The 121st Alcari recently deployed on the xenos infested planet of Aridor on the orders of Inquisitor Mordax where they have been able to instantly set up numerous fortified installations around which the battered Bethesdan 51st and Aridor planetary defence forces have rallied. These beach heads have served as staging posts for additional reinforcement from other regiments enabling the imperial forces to shift from defence to attack.

unit/character fluff

When as a young plasma specialist Garibaldi and his unit saved Arch Magos Toddius Kraine, and in doing so lost an arm to an ork choppa, few could guess the legend he would become. Promoted to lead his company and rewarded by the mechanicus with advanced bionics and an oath to provide bionics for any injured man in his company, Garibaldi has over the years become more metal than flesh, said by his men to be as strong as a space marine and twice as tough. Garibaldi and his special weapons company have a high proportion of bionics even now centuries later, long after the magos’ death the oath is honoured and these multiple bionics coupled with the concentration of special weaponry within Garibaldi’s company ensure that they are worth a lot more than the sum of their parts in a fight. This reputation has been tested multiple times, thrown into a number of meat grinders Garibaldi and his men have defied the odds and changed the course of thousands of battles with Garibaldi himself having won more medals than any previous recruit from the planet of Alcazar or the surrounding Eschataris sector.
To look at Garibaldi it is hard to see any organic parts at all and perhaps it is this cyborgisation that gives Garibaldi his faith in his own invincibility, whatever it is Garibaldi has never once retreated from a fight and makes a point of hunting down enemy commanders, separating their limbs from their bodies being a particular speciality of his.
The men that accompany Garibaldi are themselves heavily augmented, any time spent fighting alongside Garibaldi means fighting at the forefront of battle where injuries are common place. Doctor Zoidberg the medic attached to Garibaldi’s command squad is more mechanic than doctor, carrying more tools for fixing bionics than fixing flesh.
Plasma specialists Kurk, Piquard and Pyke have served in Garibaldis command squad for over 5 years together as their extensive limb replacement shows, a testament to the ferocity of the times.
N.0.r.K. was gifted to Garibaldi by the mechanicus upon his promotion to major to act as a bodyguard. Amused by the idea that he might need a bodyguard, Garibaldi treats N.0.rK as an attack dog on the battle field and a pet whilst off it, albeit a very dangerous one.

I've barely even started mine. I really want to get her done (I love painting plasma weapons!) but just after I entered I had an assignment dropped on me from Uni and that's been really eating into my free time. I got her undercoated and base coated the fatigues before that at least :p.

As long as the deadline is met that's all that counts! Maybe you can work on your background pieces to get them ticked off so you don't need to worry about them?

My model is mostly done now, just the base and transfer left which I can work through during the week smile.png Turns out my Abaddon Black is going strange too, probably GW's fault for naming it after the perennial loser but I managed to rescue enough to complete this model at least. I'll need to get some replacements before I can get painting again!

=][= IMPORTANT =][=

Finally can everyone check the entrants list to make sure that everything is present and correct - all updates and your current overall Regiments rank please? It'd make my task a lot easier now we're on the run down to the deadline. Thanks :)

Correct as of this edit time stamp:

Everything looks good on my end with the list happy.png!

That being said, I'm not sure if my pigments and special mud ingredients will be here in time for the deadline. Does that mean I won't be able to complete the models? Heh, no. I'll just have to enter the Chimera a bit more clean than was intended. After the weathering powders and secret stuff gets here, I'll fix it up proper and post it in the 93rd Ostheim thread and in the event thread (the name escapes me). There's no reason the Ogryn won't be completed.
