Looks amazing ... one thing though ... are those 32mm bases?  doesn't seem like it ... you've done such a nice job on them ... maybe you should switch to 32mm before getting any deeper in?

I agree with everything Kisada just said. Amazing painting! Also 32mm bases look better, unless you already decided to stay with 28mm bases you should switch before rather than later.

Yeah they don't look like 32mm bases but they do look very good as is.

In saying that I am considering updating my Sons as well, but the thought of it makes me cry.

My B&C WIP Thread is this one (but more pictures generally end up on the blog).

I really don't care whether you use 32mm bases or not. I just think you have captured the 90's style of painting so, so very well. Dude. Memories.... wub.png wub.png

Thanks!

Indeed they are 25mm bases. As for rebasing, I don't play that much (the nearest players are 250km away), and the "local" player base is quite relaxed on such issues, so, I don't feel the need.

Really nice Ultra's and lovely to see some 'retro' colours...reminds me of when I first started 40k - the yellow, red and blue Ultramarines featured heavily in the 3rd edition Tyranid codex. Looking forward to seeing how this army grows!

Thanks! Glad to be back.

Wow, ten years. I'm surprised you could remember your password. :P

Indeed they do. I too took a 10 year break and returned late last month. I was surprised my account still even Existed! Welcome back, Brother!

this gives me that warm fuzzy feeling too (I'm a gamer from way back then too,and the ultra's tug at the fond memory cord)

Those are some lovely Ultramarines. I'm a sucker for a quality 2nd ed paint job, and you've pulled it off beautifully here.

wub.png No words for the memories, buddy. You've captured them wonderfully.

Are you going to use transfers on them for Chapter and squad symbols?

Thank you!

Yes I'm going to use transfers for the markings, but I'm still waiting for microsol and varnish.

I've been out of the hobby for a while, are 32mm bases standard for infantry now?

Also Kalrath, those Marines look awesome! It feels odd not seeing them in the now traditional blue and gold, but I dig it!

Hi there!

Progress has been a bit slow this year, but I'm getting there!

The 3rd squad is 70% done:

Ultramarines%2BTactical%2B3.1.jpg

Still missing the Sergeant, Heavy and Special Weapons:

Ultramarines%2BTactical%2B3.2.jpg

Hope to have these finished by the end of the week.

Aha! Saving the coolest models for last, eh? Nice work again on these beautiful 90's mini's. They really hit the hobby spot and bring out feelings of nostalgia. Love 'm!

I think these old guys hold their own with the others.

Decals I'll do in the end.

Gorgeous! What is the next unit to go under your brush?

Also, if you're still missing the helmet bit for Sicarius, I have one spare that I'd be willing to send over. Shoot me a PM if you're interested. :)

Awesome job on these - I like the mix of the old models in with the new ones. Your color scheme really takes me back to when I first picked up 40k back in the 90s but you've executed it as well as I've ever seen.
