+++Blood of Wolves+++

Thaeron was still cursing throughout the vox network. He's lapse in protocol could be forgive however.

The Wolves had burned Prospero.

His cries of anger and anguish echoed through Rahotep's fiber bundles as he stomped forward through the shattered Ork defenses. They had attacked whilst they had be consolidating their three pronged attack of the largest of the Ork strongholds. Thaeron's force had only just been able to break out of their crash site as the wolves came for blood. They had come as friends at first. Claiming they had come to help with the compliance of the world. Thaeron took the remainder of his force to greet their cousins. Rahotep hadn't been there. He'd been fighting alongside the leviathan dreadnought Aaheru and Jadus' strike force.

The wolves have betrayed us!

That was when it happened. The wolves descended in attack formations. They blitzed out of their gunships still battle scared and even carrying trophies of their victory on Prospero. They advanced so sure of themselves expecting another victory. They didn't have the honour of attacking the fiefdoms of the Thousand Sons though. Thaeron's company was one of the most isolated of the Thousand Sons fleets. They still hadn't heard of Nikea or the massacres in the Isstvan system. So the wolves brought out their allies. The silent sisterhood and their null maidens. Without their powers the Thousand Sons would fall easily. They were mistaken.

Why have they done this!

Thaeron roared his defiance at their act of fratricide and charged. He led with his terminator clad scarab occult veterans. No powers. Only their skill and hatred of the wolves. The wolves were taken momentarily by surprise. They'd expected confusion at the loss of their powers to the null maidens. That mistake cost them dearly. Thaeron singled out the leader of the small force that was no doubt only a portion of the strength sent for them. It was then that he saw a trophy not of his legion. Hanging from the wolf's belt was a cracked helmet. He recognized it. An oni helmet of the second legion. His blood and anger were stoked even higher for such a blatant display. He let loose a bellowing cry as his blade tasted the blood of wolves.

For Magnus!

+++End+++

+++To be continued... soon+++

That was fun. Maybe you'll even guess whose super awesome legion I'm referring too. Hint: There is only one answer msn-wink.gif

Don't worry though it's only so Thaeron gets to put the wolf in his place later on. But the aim of the piece was to have the 9th company still be unaware of what has happened fully. My rough time frame is about three months after Prospero. Hopefully it will help set the scene fo

So here are my new pictures of my WIP contemptor. I took a few more this time as well. I had been hoping to get one of my finished veteran marine (the bearded one) but the pictures keep coming a bit blurry.

Contemptor Rahotep.

So I took a picture that I was going to use for the liber challenge but decided to use my first picture of Arkanis instead.

So here is a picture of my Centurion and MKII marine posing together.

In terms of updates I'm taking my meager force to my uni gaming club. So I can start getting in some practice and pretty battle pictures. I'm still working on what/how I want to base my guys still so that is slowing me down a bit. I do hope to have the contemptor done in a week and a half or so. Been trying get martian iron earth to look nice for my codex marines..... dry.png

Anyway that's my quick little update for my army. In other news I've entered/started my liber challenge stuff for the 9th company. It's pretty much my take on how my thousand sons operate within the legion etc. So I'd be thrilled if you could give it a little look and a bit of C&C and encouragement to meet the deadline for it. biggrin.png

Cool stuff man! Maybe I'll get around to painting one of these days...

Cheers. I look forward to seeing you outshine my attempts at the Thousand Sons though.

So my game on Saturday was fun. I played to my surprise another heresy player. Since we didn't have much in the way of time or models we played a 1000 point game of Thousand Sons VS Iron Hands.

I got destroyed. Only my contemptor left alive. My destroyers helped to weaken one his tactical squad with warlord but got gunned down by 12 kheres shots. My librarian got perils but was able to do some work with spontaneous combustion. My downfall was that I wasn't expecting two contemptors (one with 2 kheres and havoc launcher, the other outfitted for combat with two plasma blasters)  or a heresy player for that matter. This has given me ideas of what I'm currently lacking however. But it was still very enjoyable.

I did forget my Vigilator's sabotage rule though so that may help next time.

Iron Hands contemptor proxied to have 2 Kheres and havoc launcher.

Librarian Jadus' tactical squad standing on the bodies of the recently annihilated destroyer squad.

The close combat dreadnought making me run my tactical squad and warlord away all game.

Edit:

I am now considering who I'd take for allies. It's a toss up between:

Dark Angels

Alpha Legion

Imperial Army (either homemade guys or Spireguard)

Legio Cybernetica

  • 1 month later...

After a long hiatus from my Thousand Sons (I may have started an Eldar army....) I now have Garro. My plans for him are to roam between the Thousand Sons and possibly my future Imperial Fists force (because I am Slaughter was awesome) base around the Siege onwards.

So here is Garro, well the pieces of him at any rate.

I intend to start on him at some point during this week if not next. My weeks are getting a bit hectic with Uni classes finishing and the odd phase test thrown in for good measure.

I have been painting Garro for a about three days now. He's such a great model and a joy to paint. He isn't quite finished yet as I'm still undetermined about how I'm going to do his bolter. In Oath of Moment is described as being black enameled with numerous honour lines acid etched into its grip.

The only full gold parts on Garro currently are the eagles/raptors on his torso. The rest of the metallics are balthasar gold washed with agrax. I've been trying to follow his description from Oath of Moment, and somewhat from Sword of Truth (I really want them to make Varren, who doesn't want Gerard Butler's Leonidas'  in power armour?)

Pics (I know this is what you really want):

The only parts I'm not keen on are his cloak and the tabardy things (their name escapes me) on his front. Any C&C is and will be welcomed.

Cheers.

The dark lighting of the prison was for once in tune with Garro's mood. As he marched through the complex built on one of Saturn's moons he contemplated what he was about to do. A part of him knew he shouldn't be bending Malcador's rules, it went against his character. But on the other hand he couldn't allow the Knight Errant assigned to this new task go alone.

As Garro grew closer to his destination he could hear screams. Not the normal pleas of innocence, but the screams of agony. He paused as he tasted the coppery tang of blood. The screams renewed themselves once more. This time they were intertwined with crying. Somebody was pleading and their torturer wasn't listening. He continued onwards. The screams echoed from behind an adamantium door, locked completely shut. The stench of blood had intensified. The smell had mixed with other, more unpleasant odours. The prisoner had clearly emptied their bowls during their 'interrogation'.

"W-Why?" a pained voice sobbed. There is a deathly silence that last for what feels like a lifetime. Garro hears a blade drawn from its sheath. A new voice breaks the silence. "I am justice. I am judgment. I am punishement and I have come for you, traitor." The blade sliced across the neck. Garro could hear the blood gushing from the wound. After a brief pause the door opened and a figure clad in armour the same colour as Garro's, except for the blood splattered across the armour, stepped from the cell. Garro was about to reprimand the Knight Errant but he spoke before he could. "I have five more names for the Sigillite to make disappear from the annals of the Imperium." The warrior said with a slightly sadistic grin.

Garro nodded he didn't agree with the methods of his Knight brother but he didn't have time to remind him of it. "I have a task for you." The warrior was cleaning a flaying knife as he regarded Garro. "I am at your command, cousin." Garro sighed slightly shaking his head. "How you were able to keep those is beyond me." He paused as he noticed the piece of human skin hanging from the blade. "You're to accompany Brynjolf to the Nautica system." The Knight paused. He then sheathed his flaying knife next to his gladius. Vanshai of Nostramo simply nodded.

It has been a while since I've posted anything and with the impending release of the 'make-your-own-knight-errant rules' I've decided to come up with a pair. Brynjolf and Vanshai. These two knights are tasked by Garro to the Nautica system after they learn about the attack on the Thousand Sons 9th company and assess their loyalties and if possible recruit their target. The mission was originally tasked for Brynjolf but after the stab in the back the 9th company took Garro worried that they would simply kill him, despite the mark of Malcador. That is where Vanshai comes in. A former Night Lord turned Knight Errant. I'll be devolping them both in the future and at some point will get around to creating them in glorious resin/plastic.

For now here are some pics of Garro on his regular base. He is for all intents and purposes finished. The dead Gal Vorbak and blade handle need a little more doing to them still however.

Enjoy! C&C welcome.

I come bearing pictures of a single marine, yes I'm that slow sometimes.

As some of you may have seen in my WIP thread I've started tinkering with my scheme since I found it a bit too dark and Word Bearer like. The bolter is probably the weakest bit since everything was already primed black. I have since gotten some Ulthuan grey to help with layering the bolters a bit better (I may start priming them with my Corax White separately) , I'm aiming to get some Mordheim Turf to add to the bases as well as an assortment of Ork pieces and dead Space Wolves.... biggrin.png

So here is my brighter scheme (it's not come out as nice as I'd have liked since my mephiston red messed up and I've only just got my new pot.).

C&C is as always welcomed.

Mk 2 marine front

Brother Setrah on the plains of Nautica during compliance operations. Blast damage to the left knee pad indicates Brother Setrah partook in the initial beachhead assault, some weeks before the arrival of the VI legion.

Mk 2 marine front close

Mark II pattern armour had been all but phased out of the XVth legion. Only Terran legionaries continued to wear it in combat operations. In many cases the personal modifications and artifices made it superior to later marks.

Mk 2 marine right knee

Squad markings indicate Brother Setrah is a member of the 2nd squad of the Cohort of Shattered Stars.

I'm on somewhat of a roll again with my Thousand Sons. Personally that's Athrawes had to bust his Thousand Sons out and made me get the brushes back out.

Today's legionaries you've already seen but now they've been given a makeover in one way or another.

The Ork fell from the rooftop as the scorpius round punched out the back of its throat. Khtophis slid his kraken magazine back into the breach of his bolter. He and squad Arkanis were hunkered down in a shallow crater covered with debris from the building the shell had impacted into. Sand and dust fell from the floor above as more heavy rounds screamed overhead. Khtophis didn't move for several minutes as he scanned the area, looking for any sign that the shot had been heard. Blind luck had seen the Cohort of the Arimaspi penetrate furthest into Ork lines. It had also seen Arkanis from the Cohort of Shattered Stars here. The Shattered Stars' craft had all but been shot down with only Arkanis' Thunderhawk making it to his target location.

Khtophis was the company's Vigilator. His cohort did most of the recon operations and strategic insertions. He was used to being deep in occupied territory. He crept back into the building stooping low under the fallen girders and floorboards. "Sentry eliminated. We're clear to move Arkanis." The sergeant noded and gestured for the squad to follow the Vigilator. More explosions shook the earth as the squad crept through the sand covered barricades. The vox feed crackled and sparse reports came in. As far as Khtophis could tell Jadus' force was encountering substantial resistance, far more than they had anticipated. Captain Thaeron was embroiled in a breakout action at his crash site which at attracted a lot of attention from the Ork forces. The army elements still had yet to fully clear a route for the Legio Astorum engines. The plan was beginning to fall apart. Khtophis needed to get to higher ground and get a better picture.

Left to right: Vigilator Khtophis, Sergeant Arkanis, Sergeant Xerxes

med_gallery_88327_11336_72815.jpg

Sergeant Arkanis, Cohort of the Shattered Stars

med_gallery_88327_11336_96234.jpg

Arkanis displays his squad identification on his left knee pad, whilst his right displays a battle worn icon of an exploding star, the sigil of the Cohort of Shattered Stars. A Prosperite who joined the Legion at the same time as Khtophis, Arkanis has proven to be a remarkable line officer and is often seconded command of the Cohort by Captain Thaeron in larger operations.

med_gallery_88327_11336_678383.jpg

Destroyer Sergeant Xerxes, Cohort of the Shattered Stars

med_gallery_88327_11336_405250.jpg

A Terran legionary Xerxes joined with the Thousand Sons shortly before their betrayal at Miniron. It was this betrayal that pushed him into joining the Destroyers and petitioning Thaeron to keep them in use within the Legion. Xerxes' armour is darkened by the foul weapons his cadre employ. The blast damage to the reinforced armour plates that Xerxes was involved in the initial siege of Screama' Rok on Nautica.

med_gallery_88327_11336_519140.jpg

Vigilator Centurion Khtophis, Cohort of the Arimaspi

med_gallery_88327_11336_400006.jpg

One of the first recruits from Prospero into the 9th Company, Khtophis was instrumental in bringing the other Prosperite legionaries to Thaeron's way of making war. He leads the Cohort of the Arimaspi, the recon and strategic incursion section of the 9th company.

Been a pretty slow week for my painting though my FW order containing some much need upgrade parts has finally been dispatched. Next week or so my friend and I are splitting the BaC box (not a particularly even split). So you can look forward to seeing some more guys being built up.

The two models in the pictures below only have a few minor details that need finishing- The marine needs his base finishing up, and the dreadnought could use some patterns/decals adding to him (though I really want to wait for the large transfer sheet.).

Brother Setrah- Squad Arkanis

med_gallery_88327_11336_321890.jpg

Setrah is practicus to Thaeron and is often found accompanying the captain during the brief respite between campaigns. Setrah accompanied Thaeron and the rogue trader Trissina to Nikaea. They were arrived during the conclave and were as such unable to participate. Though their stay was brief Setrah was honoured to meet his Primarch as he was escorted back to his waiting ship.

med_gallery_88327_11336_379958.jpg

Setrah's armour bears a personalised sigil of the Thousand Sons legion on his right knee pad.

Contemptor Rahotep

med_gallery_88327_11336_860156.jpg

Critically wounded during the battle for Crow's Hollow, Rahotep has served with the Legion since Magnus' discovery on Prospero. Present during the initial surprise attack by the VIth Legion kill force he was focus for much of the heavier fire that the Wolve's had brought with them.

Decided I'd start a little side project to run alongside my Thousand Sons, mostly because of the potential of the Shattered legion and Black Shield army lists. I've not fully decided yet what I'll be doing or if I'll even commit to it. But I've started a two test models for one of the potential inclusions. I like the idea and potential to be able to play my armies as either loyalist or traitor, mostly because I can't decide whose side to be on.

You get bonus points if you can guess the first Legion being considered?

I'm methodically completing squad Arkanis with the remaining six members at various stages of completion. Then the HH weekender happened and distracted me with all the news it regularly brings. I finished brightening up my already finished Nuncio-vox and Vexilla marines so I figured I'd take a few pictures of the squad command.

+++ Nautica +++

+++ Twelve Terran hours into final assault +++

"The hain are retreating, their resistance is crumbling. Orders sergeant?" Arkanis slide his combat blade out of the Ork's vertebrae. A stray rocket hit a balcony across the street from his squad. His vox crackled again filtering in garbled words. "Left fl... secured....Advanc....on......garden district." He spat a thick goblet of blood on the sand covered floor beneath him. "Xaaren, can you clear this up at all?" Xaaren his vox operator shook his head. "I'm afraid not sergeant, it's a bloody miracle we're evening getting that through." Arkanis sighed retrieving his helmet from the floor where it had been knocked from his head. Another ear splitting cry echoed from further ahead. "Aaheru's putting the work in." Setrah said as he leapt down into the street. "We'll have to cut through the temple garden if we want to reach him." Nodding Arkanis swung his bolter up ready. "Setrah take Dartek and scout ahead."

Squad Arkanis Command: Brother Taeron, Sergeant Arkanis, Brother Xaaren, Brother Setrah

med_gallery_88327_11336_127362.jpg

med_gallery_88327_11336_92825.jpg

Brother Xaaron, Nuncio-vox operator

med_gallery_88327_11336_82202.jpg

A Terran born Astartes Xaaron was on of the last recruits from Terra before the discovery of Magnus on Prospero. Xaaron served for a brief period with the XVIth Legion. He still bore the Cthonic sigil and eye of Horus on his right shoulder when the 9th company learned of the Heresy.

Brother Taeron: Vexilla bearer

med_gallery_88327_11336_280500.jpg

Taeron like many of his squad is of Prosperine birth. It has been his honour to carry Arkanis' vexilla into battle since joining the Legion some eighty years ago. It was to Arkanis' great regret that this made Taeron a target when his squad reinforced Thaeron's counter-attack on the VIth Legion. He was wounded in single combat by Erik Bloodfang, a slight that was swiftly repaid by Captain Thaeron. He would be confined to the Apothecarium until the arrival of the Knight Errant Vanshai some weeks later.

Great looking TS, the gold on the faceplates is superb!

I dont know if its the lighting, but I dont see any highlights? This would really make the red pop, especially picking out the detailing around the knee pads.

Cheers metallics seem to be a strong suit of mine.

There are highlights done in wild rider red, but it appears they aren't very consistent. I'll go back through them to see if I can't make it more evident. I may need a more orange highlight than the wild rider red. The overall brightness may be masking them.

+++ Nautica +++

+++ Eighteen Terran hours into compliance operations. Two hours into VIth assault +++

+++ Zone mortalis operation: Strike Cruiser Bloodied Fang +++

The deck shuddered violently again as a broadside from the Hyperion smashed into the weakening void shields of the Bloodied Fang. Urhiya slammed into a bulked as the ship shook again. Urhiya snarled tasting blood in his mouth. He righted himself again and reformed the defensive shield wall. He swallowed the blood down in a quick gulp before opening a vox feed to the Hyperion. He could've easily mind spoken to Artemisia but it slowed his reactions down, and he needed to be at full awareness aboard the Wolves' ship.

The link crackled to life and the spireborn voice of Artemisia filled his ear, "What do you want Urhiya? I'm a little preoccupied dealing with these mongrels' ships." Her picture finally appeared in his retinal display. Her long black hair was untied despite regulations stating otherwise. "I'm well aware of that. So would you kindly stop shelling the Bloodied Fang whilst my men are still aboard her? Thaeron's orders were to capture, not remove from the history books." Artemisia didn't reply immediately she was busy ordering the gunnery commander to acquire a new firing solution on the Fang. "I'm aware of the Captain's orders Urhiya. But I can't disengage at this range and not be punished for it." Urhiya snarled as his squad stopped to breach a sealed bulkhead. "Fine. Just reduce the intensity towards the bridge and engineering decks. Thaeron will have his prize within the hour." With that said he cut the link as the bulkhead imploded and the shield wall of the Armigers pushed through.

"Weapons check. Prepare for hostile contact." Talion mind spoke to the squad as his auspex lit up with enemy signals. "Praesidium formation." The shield wall came to a halt locking their shields together. Behind them their support squad loaded their Vaedian pattern rotor cannons. Their reinforce barrels meant they could utilise more potent ammunition at the cost of a slower initial rotation speed. Ahead of them the howls echoed down the corridors. Armoured silhouettes came into view and without the order needing to be given the shield wall became a crescendo.

+++

Paragon Urhiya: Commander of the Armigers, the 9th company's void elite

med_gallery_88327_11336_679114.jpg

Urhiya is the Paragon of the Armigers a title and rank not easily earned. Urhiya has shown dedication and commitment to mastering zone mortalis warfare in all forms. He has served alongside the best of other legion's void elite including the Phalanx Wardens of the VIIth and Triarii of the XIIth.

med_gallery_88327_11336_482240.jpg

During the boarding operations of the Bloodied Fang Urhiya slew one of the few remaining champions of the Wolve's in single combat.

med_gallery_88327_11336_293096.jpg

Hope you like my breacher marine. Can't field them yet as I only have the five. I'm still working on trying to make the armour highlights more defined, so I'm probably going to have to use either Troll Slayer orange or Fire Dragon Bright rather than the Wild Rider Red.
