Salud, B&C!

Allow me to introduce myself; my name is Demitrius, but most internet folks know me as Storm (all of them actually.  Hooray for a regularly unused username.)  I actually joined B&C some time ago back when I considered playing marines, but that project faded over a year ago because I didn't get back into the hobby.

I was in the Marine Corps for three years and also went to college up until this past December, and I was in the hobby since about 13.  I played up to my first year of both, then time simply had me pull away and I liquidated all of my hobby stuff to stay afloat and also because it was just gathering dust.

Fast forward through all of that time spent adulting, and I am now out of the Marine Corps and healthily invested into two new careers in finance and entrepreneurship, and I met back up with a friend of mine I used to play with.  After a weekend spent using a few of his armies at an event nearby, I got excited for the hobby again; I recently picked up some Vampire Counts for Fantasy, but am also looking to start a 40k army due to the larger community and my personal interest in sci fi.

I'm looking to start an Elysian Drop Troops army, mostly because I love the fluff behind them and the models from Forgeworld are fantastic, and remind me of my time spent with the USMC.  I left the hobby back in 4th edition I believe, and I understand a lot has changed, so I'll be lurking about the Astra Militarum page to find what I can about how to build the army up and what all this nonsense is between the different sub-"races" of guard that are now on GWs website.  I was actually looking at the Tempestus Scions as the rules-set I'll be using, just because their rules really stick out to me as being Elite soldiers without being superhuman like the Space Marines.  However, I also have no clue as to where the meta of my local game store is nor how often I'll be playing in tournaments, so when I do get this up it will be mostly for the modeling opportunity as well as the fact that Elysian's are just cool.

Anyways, I look forward to seeing y'all around the forums!

Adieu,

Storm

@Teetengee

Legions was actually where I was observing and talking to some folks throughout last week.  I'd never been prior to that, until my friend introduced me to it.  Its probably where I'll be playing most of the time!  As far as Phantom, the owner at the Oakland PotA is a good friend of mine as he is my go to for roleplaying gear and gets it to me pretty quick when I order it, so I'll probably be doing games there as well!

For sure.  If you're ever in the area, Legions is great; I've yet to play there, but they have a dozen or so tables open pretty much any night, and more on the weekends.  I never knew it existed, but its probably where my forces will have their first blooding!
