Dam that staff looks amazing! Painting the gold on the top really helped balance out the colours. As did the extra yellow in the flames. Look forward to seeing the whole model together :-)

I wasn't sure what to do with the top at first. I had plans to do more flames but having looked at it's final position I realised it could very well draw focus away from the face.

Also the gold was much quicker and to be honest I really like it.

Great work on the lord of change. All the elements are looking fantastic. That’s possibly one of the cheapest wet pallets Iv seen anyone talk about. Thanks for sharing that.

Stray

The parchment paper was the thing I needed to be sure about before giving it a go. when it came up on the 'Eavyer metal facebook group for exactly what to use it flew together from there. The same conversation also suggested kitchen towel over foam sponge because you don't need as deep water to keep it working well. I'll probably go out and get a proper box at some point as this one is quite deep and the edges can get in the way. Suggestions also from the FB thread include boxes with a deeper lid and build the pallet in the lid side.

Very noce work on the staff.

thank you, it took so long just trying to get the highlights neat and thin on the black.

The stuff is brilliant! First class painting! :smile.:

thank you

That knight is just... Wow.

Thanks I have it looking at me all the time and have just taken the next step to this and something else.

So we have been using a different hand soap at home for a while, moisturising and slightly smelly (the 5yo and wife love it) so when it came to washing out for the recycling my brain was ticking over.

You see I got a bunch of sector mechanicus for Christmas and with necormunda I really want to sort some of my terrain out, and well this soap bottle is a good size for a tank.

The problem is that I'm not a fan of flexible plastic bottles as it can ruin and flake a paint job, but as I kept finding an old can of spray foam I decided an experiment was in order.

med_gallery_88567_14176_468656.png

Now the foam has expended quite a bit and what better way to bulk out the Knights base than by cutting down the stuff that's coming out of the top to use on the knights base for the wraithknight's crater and rubble.

So I get to kill 2 birds with one stone as it were, slowly sort so terrain stuff out and also get the next stage on the knight moving along.

As for the Lord of change I'm just doing the gold on the last two bits while the foam mess sets fully and with that done there really isn't much left.

Finished the last two components, the dagger and bag off Icky bits.

With the last two bits done it was time for a photo shoot and then a play with the resultant pictures.

During the build and paint I've said several times how proud I am of this model. I've pushed myself so much further than before and while some bits (orange weapons particularly) took what seamed like forever the results are definitely worth it.

As I had set up the table for the final photo shoot I took the opportunity to take some photos of my old daemonettes. Having dug round in the loft last night for terrain to take to a friends I came across these

med_gallery_88567_13975_889264.png

I'm posting them here more for prosperity after Augustus b'Raass talked about selling old armies I;ve been wondering what I really need. It's a bit of a shame to let them go but when I tackle Slaanesh I'm going to want all of the options and I just can't see the Juan Diaz sculpts and the new kits looking good together. Now that's not to say the current range excites me as there are some serious flaws, however I think the Witch Elves are a solid choice to kit bash with the current daemonettes to get some solid results.

So plan is to bung up on ebay with a high buy it now + best offer just to see how they do. Maybe it'll get me enough to stick to one side ready for the eventual Slaanesh releases, wish me luck.

Thanks for all the nice comments, I'm super happy to have set out to do something and then actually finish it.

With one project down I spent a little time fiddling with different things, a slight dash of paint went on the primaris marines but nothing realy noticeable and I looked at terrain a touch. However Wednesday saw my new order of greenstuff arrive and a day or so before some milliput, I ordered them both because people had advised mixing them 50/50.

Having had a bunch of plaster rocks soaking and treated with Ronseal wood hardener and the other materials arriving I was ready. So yesterday and today I used up the last of my old greenstuff and also a bit of the new to have a trial with the milliput mix. Now I'm not sure I'm a super fan but I did notice on the later batches that after 20 mins it becomes easier to work with so I'll keep playing and see how it goes.

The results so far are promising and I'm seeing how the base will come together.

And a shot with the Knight in place to see the scale of the smoke plumes.

med_gallery_88567_11374_46390.png

I have an assignment due on the 21st so I'll be trying to use work on the knight as a reward for progress. So not going to let myself get to wrapped up in it and progress just needs to plod along.

So assignment came and went without any more work on the knight, however in a fit of procrastination I finished a model that was to hand of my desk.

med_gallery_88567_13346_628915.png

I also got the basing sorted for the original 2 along side the new guy.

med_gallery_88567_13346_566243.png
I'm currently adjusting the head cannon for the storm paladins and I'm sure when I get the unit finished I'll be able to throw together something.

It was nice to progress the unit and get another model out of my painting box. Currently the sergeant and last model are still in the box and may end up getting a similar treatment as I have another assignment due and need to get cracking at my desk. (so inevitable procrastination with whats to hand will no doubt happen.)

Rolling towards May I have 2 more assignments to do and an exam to prepare for so lots to do. Hopefully I can get to summer and settle on the next proper project which could be terrain, more knight work or a Herald for my Tzeentch daemons. It'll be a balance of moving the knight along but also doing something I can get on the gaming table and have the satisfaction of using.

Lovely work on those Primaris Astartes! The blue is delicious, and is perfectly complemented by the orange markings!

Thank you, It is rather nice isn't it. I've yet to get cracking/procrastinating on the next assignment so no more painting yet, I may have to get settled down tonight and have a go I'd love to move the first squad out of the painting box.

Thank you for bidding anyway. Just need to package them up now so I can send them off.

Loving those primaris, such a nice blend of colors. Also must have missed it before, but great to see you working on the knight again!

Thank you. He's still sat there staring at me waiting for the next messy batch of sculpting and the primaris are sat in the paint box to the other side taunting me with edge highlights.

Discovered your thread today, great stuff man. Hope to see that knight finished one day!

Thank you. the knight will definitely get done and I should get paint on him before Christmas, my main goal for this year though is to have a fully painted 1k list and after my assignment and exam in may I have plans for a proper speed painting challenge to achieve that though might be moving in a bit of a new direction for that.

Once I have the ability to field a fully painted army I'll want to kick back into a specialist project again so the knight will probably take the centre stage and 100% will if we get a renegade knight codex this year.

The knight is awesome so much details!

Keep it up man!

Thank you.

So I've been swamped with assignments and work recently and just needed something simple to get me a break every now and then.

med_gallery_88567_13975_443119.png

Getting these three painted up will at least give the lord of change some company. The base colours are mostly done just a bit of brown to go, the blue and purple have had wash and 1st highlight done and the pink is washed.

I don't expect these to take long as only really 4 colour areas and it's all just repeats for colours used on the lord of change. will see if I get them done before the 11th of may when after my exam I'm picking up my ETL vow and will see what happens then.

Aw, no: I was counting on finally seeing that mutated Knight up on the chopping block for this ETL -- and vowed in favour of the chaos forum, no less! What a crying shame!

That being said, best of luck for your vow(s), of course, mate! :)

Screamers are looking good!

Thank you, not much left to do so when some purple goes on my Crons that'll get added to the three of them.

Haha. I did use some of the Greenstuff/milliput mix to do some more to the Knight's base Maybe he'll be finished in time to paint for call of chaos. Abaddon also got some added to his Thigh which has realy smoothed out nicely so as I work on my Cryptek expect up dates to these other unfinished models.

Build has started on the ETL vow, I just need to do the Annihilation Barge, Lord and 4 warriors.

There is a little bit of fine tuning to do to the Cryptek but I'm quite pleased with how he came out.

Quite a few dethmark spares where sacrificed to make this guy with 3 Torsos backs carved up for various details. A little bit of filling is still needed around the torso.

Cooments and feedback welcome, I'm wondering how much the staff of light needs a blade or if the more staff like appearance fits the Cryptek better than a pole arm.

Awesome updates. You've got painting Tzeentchian things in the bag! Those screamers look superb with the blue and purple blended and the pink contrail...tail things.

The cryoptek also looks awesome. Always nice to see Necrons receiving conversion work.
