Chaplain Charmosian was the Chaplain of the 18th Company, and one of the most senior members of the Legion. He acted as a member of Fulgrim's honour guard during the later stages of corruption leading up to Istvaan III.

I was tempted to have a bash at this one myself, but having seen Myles' Erebus, well, I couldn't not commission him, as well I really loved this model.

I added this cheeky little head, as I figured it showed him as the rot began to take hold of the IIIrd. I was going to use a 'Sean Connery' head, but then this one popped up and thought it looked epic!!

I've been wanting to get one for quite some time and I think I'm finally going to give in since I've convinced myself and my old lady that it's a worth while investment. Do you have any advice as to what might a be good setup or perhaps what should be avoided for someone taking there first foray into the world of airbrushing?

Loving the Emperor's Children Eidolon :D Can I just ask how you removed the Inquisition bits from the blackstar? It's just I'm considering using it much like you have so any advice would be appreciated :)

I use a badger renegade these days, but started out with a cheap nasty chinese one that are easy to obtain here in Oz. You want a dual action brush at the very least, I'd recommend getting a reasonably cheap one of ebay as you'll probably end up wrecking it and at least you've not blown a lot of cash -- when you improve you can get a good one and use the old one for priming and varnishing. Get a compressor with the tank, i made the mistake of not and well, had to buy a new one. There are some great vids on you tube to help you out!!

Finally, I got these guys finished - well actually they've been done a while, I just wasn't around in daylight hours to photograph them... My funky little lightbox has changed that though....

 

I really think MK IV fits the aesthetic of the Emperor's Children. I've gone for classic tac markings, because the EC were clearly soooo fabulous Girlyman had to rip them off for his codex....

 

I've kind of made the Sgt a sort of Palatine Blade, so he can represent Cario -- there was a pretty cool bit of art floating around the net that inspired me to do this little mock up...

I hope (one day) to take these bad boys up to a 20 man blob, but I think it'll do a more 'veteran' squad of MKII and III next! Quite like the idea of a demi company of 2 x 20 man squads and a 10 man support squad.

Like most people I picked up the BoP box, and kind of had buyers remorse! I'm not entirely sure if MKIIIs will really fit the EC look, I am thinking I'll just stick Phoenician pattern heads on them all! That'll work.... Besides, I've mostly done 10 Thousand Sons. the rest may end up Dark Angles and Iron Warriors before a date with ebay.....

 

I did however figure the Termies would look good as EC's, so promptly built one as a Scarab Occult... I liked that guy so much, I figured they'd look cool in pink. Part of my delay in tackling them was the thought I needed to make them sufficiently EC and blingy. I checked out the FW art, and tried to make them as appropriate as possible. I think I'll go crazy with my Cataphractii that will end up as Julius Kaesoron's command squad......

If any players have any idea for load out, as I am not much of a gamer, please let me know. I've magnetised the guns, and one guy has got a magnetised assault cannon.

I decided to paint the guys in bits, mainly due to using spray metallics before doing the pink!!

Quite liking the results so far! Being a whinging Pom it got way to hot in the garage and I got fed up of my paints all drying out, so I called it a day a little earlier than I'd have liked! Still can't get used to Aussie Christmas in summer.....

Some progress on these bad boys!

 

I am pretty pleased with them, the Sgt is done, with a magnetised hand allowing for a swap out of the Phoenix Spear. The other guy will be the special weapons bod, given i've magnetised the assault cannon arm up, so that at least allows flexibility with the squad. I might add a chain fist to one of the bolter guys at some point too. Just waiting to get the bases dry now....

Well after a rather long hiatus on my EC specialist unit, i have managed to 'almost' to get the test model done, reasonably happy with him; he is still glossy and i need to tidy up the gold and add some pouches, but you get the idea!! Originally I was going to have the whole unit with the Invictari head, but i've changed my mind on that....

I might however struggle to vow these on the 20 Hobbyist's tale, as an Assualt Squad requires at least 10, and I need to source/cast the jump packs for more. My initial attempt didn't work out too well, but i'll try try and try again!!

I actually ran out of pink, so will need to get on it, shall add a few more glazes and push the shadows a little more, but needed to get something up for my vow on the hobby blog. I'll sort the pink out then go of and concentrate on Ancient Kurama. I've acquired some of the new lascannons, so everyones favourite hedonist is going to be a a crazed ex-SunKiller.

 

I've managed to get hold of a different hell brute head and have also managed to devise a Sun Killer symbol!! Shall get some more pics up soon!

Haven't seen EC assault guys before. Niiice

 Well, we really don't like getting our hands that dirty..... ;)  I actually really like the idea of MK2 Assault squads, so I might do a squad of the those too.....

 

 

Heads on the recent marines are definitely working :thumbsup: Will the blue fade/shading be consistent across them all at this stage?

 

 EC geeks like to argue the toss about the use of white on the armour, citing it as a throw back to pre Fulgrim days; I like the idea of white on veterans, so this squad will all have white helmets!

 

Very interesting pink you have going on there, it really stands out (so basically perfect for EC). The assault squad is looking good, great choice of bits! Also, looking forward for the dreads

 

I like the old Index Astartes article so went old school with Warlock Purple!! My camera does play havoc with the pink, it doesn't actually get the colour right. I really need to work on it!! I'm not entirely taken with all the heads, the plastic crusader head is being binned, as I just don't like it!! So any suggestions are greatly appreciated....

 

Sun killer symbol! This I have to see! Keep it up!

 

I'm a stuck record. It can't believe how good raptor packs are in 30k - can't find a single setting they don't work in!

 I do love the raptor packs, it was one of the first things I thought of when i came back to the hobby to find out they were doing Heresy armour, quite surprised they didn't use them as MKIV packs... Oh well! 

 

I have done all the pink layers on the Dreds and marines, so I'll be posting some pics soon!! I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the icon/symbol....

The hobby butterflying continues, sometimes I get a little bored of painting so feel the urge to chop things up....

 

I've been pondering a Terminator Command Squad for some time. I've always felt the praetor of any normal legion is equivalent to a veteran of the Third... Just didn't have the guts to chop one up before!! I might try and cast the torso, to save the pennies! Otherwise, Ebay here I come.....

 

Question is, what head? I like the UM head, as it's kind of flat, but is it too UMy? The EC head could work, but i am using them a lot elsewhere. I guess the Phoenix Termie is also an option? Any ideas welcomed!!

I'm also pondering a Julius Kaesoron conversion to lead these bad boys..... I will also do my best to fix the Cataphractii medic and make him worthy of the Third.....

 

I am thinking of building these for the Loyalty and Treachery, just pondering the exact nature of the pledge

I always struggle with extra heads. The palatine blew heads are very nice but don't work well with Terminator armour imho. The emeperors children Phoenician pattern helmets work well. The Phoenix guard helmets are quite flat and, although great with Phoenix guard, are a little underwhelming for characters.

 

I'd always thought of GS modifying a phonecian pattern helmet, never really sketched anything out.

Cheers! I am a bit miffed the EC upgrade kit doesn't have other variations of helmet, like just about every other kit! Oh well! I've actually took a clearer pic of a trimmed down UM head and a Phoenix Guard head for comparison. I am gravitating toward the UM head, but as i'm doing at least 3 I might use a Phoenicean pattern helm too, to add variety.

Cheers mate! I really wanted to keep the old IA vibe to them. It is a WoodElf axe, I think its from the Sisters of Thorn kit, Kizzdougs swapped me a few bits for some shields for his Breachers.
