That is looking very smart! Love seeing these. Only white mechanicum army I have ever seen.... need more robots though

Thanks! Don't you worry there will be more robots eventually. I've got a Thanatar primed and ready to go and I think I'm going to have to pick up some Domitars at some point too. :biggrin.: Sadly I'm such slow painter it will probably be a little while before you see any more robots...

Ugh I have a minotaur to paint in a similar scheme, but its already been assembled. I'm dreading it lol.

I think you need to go back and weather all your models; they're pretty flat as pure white tends to be, but is compounded by the lack of highlights and shading on any other colours. The avenger shows that just a bit of weathering can really add some contrast and make your red and white pop

I have a white mechanicum thread in the forge #totalselloutmoment :tongue.:

This thing has so many details inside the cabin. Unfortunately, you can barely see them once it's assembled... Putting the driver in there was probably the worst part of putting this thing together and now you can hardly even see him. :furious: But overall I really like this model.

Yeah, I'm planning on going back and doing weathering on my previous models. There has been a lot of learning on my part with this project but I like to think I'm improving and trying new things.

As far as your white Mechanicum, I remember thinking that scheme looked rather familiar when I saw your work in the L&T thread. :tongue.: I wish I had your speed. Are you part robot?

  • Yea I got the minotaur fully assembled with the dude stuck in a corner so it's going to be super hard to paint him and any of the interior detail. My scheme is an off white so I get to cheat on the colours a bit and use bleached bone to touch up. The Omnissiah may have also blessed me with replacement robot arms lol

Damn. Minotaurs look badass, can't wait to see this one finished!

Indeed! I really like the model. I think I'm going to have to get a second one at some point. :biggrin.:

This just arrived about 30 minutes ago and has made my day. I squealed like a school girl when I saw the package. :laugh.:

This is my first "black book" and I am amazed at the quality and am filled with a terrible desire to acquire the first five books now. Now I that I have it in my hands I can begin deciding between a shatterd legions force or Blackshields to go with my Ordo Reductor.

I am leaning very heavily towards Blackshields. I've been wanting to do a Blackshields force since I first saw this image, but the Shattered Legions would be awesome too.... :unsure.:

    Decisions decisions...

Alrighty folks! I lost focus for a bit but I've been gaining steam again and have been getting back to work.

Tried my hand at some paint chipping on the Minotaur and Venator

Wow those stripes are gorgeous, your artillery looks fantastic

Son of a... wow, that's a pretty paint scheme. I've really not got much else to say. But son of a gun, that's a pretty color set.

    Thanks guys! :)

What do you think about adding some rust streaks?

I've been playing around with some colors but haven't found a mix that looks quite right to me. Also planning on doing a rust wash on the treads and then trying out some weathering powders.

Mmmmmm yes, I'm all for weathering powders! I've found that the GW typhus corrosion paint is excellent for weathering and making rust streaks. It can take some getting used to however (there is a fine sand in with the wash) so I suggest practicing with it first

Ok, first, well technically second attempt at some rust. First attempt was way too orange.

    http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/sol_invictus777/Mobile%20Uploads/20160924_203100.jpg

I used an oil paint mix and some thinner to streak it. I don't want to go super heavy but as The Psycho mentioned it still looked too clean even with the chipping and grunge.

What do you think? Too much? Too little? Color look ok? C&c appreciated. :)

Looking good. I really like the bright pop of the white- it is so unusual to see that color as a primary for the Mechanicum. The chipping and rusting are on point, giving the paintjob interesting details and not overwhelming the overall feel.

Thanks! I didn't want to go overboard with everything so I'm glad to hear it doesn't feel like it's too much. :smile.:

I picked up some weathering powder this weekend so I'll be giving that a try next.

Man, that colour scheme is so pretty...  :woot: Nice weathering too, by the way - the rust/weathering powder/chipping looks amazing and ties the paint job together! Keep it up :smile.:

Thank you! Always glad to hear that people like what they see. :smile.:

It's been a llittle while since my last post but I haven't been idle. Slow maybe but not idle.

I've almost finished my Triaros. I just have to finish up the guns and it should be good to go.

    As always c&c is welcome.
