Clan Xaaron - A 40k Iron Hands Project Log

I know I have a long dead topic lying somewhere in the bowels of Works in Progress, so mods do let me know me if I should just combine the two.

Long story short, I've moved countries and after many shipments of models back and forth I've started to finally get my hobby set up going again. I've been intending to start an Iron Hands army ever since I got back into the hobby, but time and money meant I decided to muck around with my old Space Wolves army as practice before committing to a buying a new project.

Battle of Calth changed all of that and I was impressed enough to impulse purchase it, so I don't have much of an excuse anymore to hold off starting the Iron Tenth I've been dreaming to build ever since 3rd edition!

Still working on a backstory for my Clan, but I'm gearing to making them obsessed with seeking out Archeotech to explain the use of the MK IV bits and Contemptor from BoC and extensive kitbashing.

Here are the first two tacticals I've made so far. Base is just temporary.

Be good to hear any comments and criticism. I'm still unsure about the servo skull on the back of the first marine so any opinions on that would be much appreciated!

Welcome to the fold Brother.

What is the second marine going to be wielding in his right hand as its a firing hand?

Where did you get his backpack from?

Cheers! Was trying to get him in a turning pose with his right hand empty, might not work from the angles I've taken the photos from. Maybe I'll try a knife. The backpack is the teleporter option from the Grey Knight sprue with the side bits clipped off with enough left to give the impression of vents.

Good start . I like the bionic arm on the second marine. Is that from the Imperial Guard Command sprue? I might have to do some cutting...

Yes it is. Love the amount of options that kit has for conversions.

My glacial modelling speed goes on. New tactical marine is done. My first attempt at a scratch built bionic leg. Think it turned out pretty well and I learnt some new tricks for the next one.

I really need to spend more time in the Iron Hands forum. I might get around to restarting my own DIY Chapter faster if I did sad.png

Nice looking minis happy.png The Clan wouldn't happen to have been named after this individual by any chance? happy.png

Off to a great start! When you are going to do a paint scheme test model? happy.png

Probably not for a while! Weather on the East Coast has been terrible and I don't have the space for indoor priming. The good news is I'm moving, the bad news is I'm having to take a break from modelling, as I don't want to move out all of my hobby stuff until I'm sure that I'm settled and not at risk of another major move. Thanks for looking though!

No joke, I live in NE myself! When the weather starts acting up, I break out this stuff: http://www.acrylicosvallejo.com/en_US/primers/family/22

You can use an airbrush to apply it (I prefer black for my models) or just brush on by hand. And it gives excellent, smooth results every time!

(Also, it's WAY cheaper than spray cans !) biggrin.png
