(Reads on the wiki) His faction lived off slave labour, and without Guilliman to pacify Illyria, presumably those regions would have had to be crushed with extreme prejudice. Macragge can only be one or the other. Macragge as Segmentum Capital Dilutes the hyper Legion focus that typically happens in the Insurrection/Heresy by raising the Imperial Army/Navy (It's not all about power armour) Has greater significance as a Segmentum Capital instead of HW protectorate (7 capitals versus 10+ Protectorate systems) Leaving the Macragge nobility in place adds a bit of corruption and grimdark to the location (Adds potential drama to Macragge defenders) Macragge as HW Protectorate Establishes clear connection between Halcyon Wardens and Ultramarines (easing things for new readers) Clears out the corrupt nobility and ensures Macragge is more productive. Heck, it's particularly important that a key world be handled that way. Alex and his generals, of all people, would understand the needs and the means for that. The Praetor Euripides was one of a few loyalists within the dark days of the Insurrection who maintained a dedecation to the Imperial Truth, even as it was falling apart and began to be supplanted by at his own Primarch's behest, that almost rivalled the fanaticism displayed by certain Traitor groups in their desire to see it torn down. Euripedes had born his genesire's propagation of the Lecticio Divinatus with an uneasy silence, confident that the war's end would see a return to rationality and satisfied in his loyalty. This was something that changed with the arrival of the Saint Selene Purechild within the Sol System. This was the first time that Euripides began to see that the values endorsed by his Primarch's stand were becoming more and more openly embedded into the Imperium, and that they might never be erased. It is unclear how exactly the Praetor perceived the Saint or what he believed her to be. It is known that some of his co-conspirators saw commonalities between Purechild and the Demagogues that lead ravening cults into lunatic battles against the Loyalist forces across the Galaxy, equivocating her followers to the cultist rabble that flocked to such darkly inspired leaders. Indeed, both the rampant cults and Selene's own exploits were an equal challenge to the tenets of the Imperial Truth. Regardless, her proximity to and percieved ingluence to the Warmaster was seen as a poisonous thing to be curtailed at any costs, even if they were condemned as traitors for their actions. Euripedes party of thirteen Halcyon Wardens was perhaps the most significant breach of Palace security in that stage of the war. Untainted by the fell touch of the warp and trusted entirely, they were able to bypass many measures intended to prevent chaos-addled lunatics from drawing close enough to strike a fatal blow. The again, perhaps this was all intentional. Alexandros' foreknowledge of the attempt can perhaps be attributed to his telepathic or divinatory abilities, or those of the Caryana cadres that patrolled the Palace. Maybe it was simply that they could not hope to deceive their father. When they arrived at where they had expected the Saint to be, they found him waiting. "To strike at her is to strike at me." With those words each of the conspirators laid down their weapons, Euripedes last. ....... ...Ironically and despite his distaste for such terms, Euripedes had made himself a martyr. There were those among the Legiones Astartes and other various divisions of the Imperium who still held to the Imperial Truth not merely in quiet belief but in the eventual intent of restoring it, and Euripedes gave them a figure to identify themselves with. In time many of these would defect to the Suzerainty, who themselves maintined a version of the Imperial Truth. Yet there were those, though a scant few, who were unwilling to abandon the Imperium they believed in. Even now, there are a few who cling to the 'truths' of a failed past. Next to each creation was a Halcyon Warden, the creator. As ordered by the Primarch, not one of them wore their armor or arms, dressed in a variety of robes for the occasions. It was slightly odd to the Chapter Master to see Astartes in robes and out in public. Robes had always held suggestions of rest and privacy. It might also to do with the fact that Ruel had not worn his armor in public since his promotion to captain those many decades ago. He had always wanted to cut an image of utter professionalism. He resisted the urge to glance down at the plain grey robes currently adorning him. It only added to his sense of disconnect to reality. He stopped at the next exhibit. The Warden openly watched him, stuck at a confused halfway point between the position of attention and being casual. Irvin did not comment as he studied the piece itself: a painting of the Primarch with golden wings and arms held wide. Irvin waited a moment longer, pretending to measure the item's worth. It wasn't that he held art to be valueless. He didn't know when, but Alexandros had successfully imbued that particular strange value into him. No, he simply did not know how on Terra he was supposed to choose one to be worthy of first place. Who was he, a warrior, to be able to declare which art was better than another? There was no objective standard, nothing beyond a whim that could guide the former Legion Master. Not for the first time did Irvin suspect this was yet another of his gene-sire's mischievous lessons. Zanskat Oath (Battleship) - constructed over Delos, this battleship was commanded by Legate Prisfirah Sauhan during the later part of the Great Crusade. It saw action in the Qarith Crusade and the Schism of Mars. Delian Spear - built by the Abyssii Mechanicum, this ship played a key role in the void battle over Mars during the Schism. Solar Tempest (Goliath-class Battleship) - the Vth Legion's flagship before the Elpis, this mighty ship remained in the keeping of Irvin Ruel after the Gloriana was constructed. Measuring seventeen kilometres from prow to stern, it was one of the very largest Legion vessels. Dominion of Reason (Battleship) - Pyrrhicles transferred his flag to this ship when his duties took him away from Alexandros. It was upon this ship that he fell to the Harbingers' treachery, and the Dominion of Reason was given to the Hammers of Malis. Nautilos (Battleship) - an ancient vessel from the Age of Strife, Legate Antipaton took the Nautilos for his flagship after it was seized in battle from the Maelynos Knight dynasty.
