Progress ! Finally! So I finished the squad I pledged for the challenge. Mk3 armor is a pain to paint with all those studs. I also got to use my new decals and try out my light box! I'm moving to India for work so they came to collect my stuff today. I stayed up all night and finished this morning before the packers showed up. Well, here they are!

gallery_86595_11085_1781962.jpggallery_86595_11085_372254.jpgI made an "aspiring arbiter (chaplain)" out of some death company bits i had. He along with the plasma cannon marine are my 2 favorites of this batch.

So i know its been a long time. i dont know if ill ever actually finish haha.

but for christmas i was given an amazing gift by my brother. I present to you, the Master of the Legion. I cant say how pleased and i grateful i am. this is my counts as Azrael, and ready for the primaritization of him. Its a bit hard to see, but the helmet has a lion snout (for the lion helm haha). The servo gun and tubes really bring out the mechanicus ties, older mk 3 shoulder pads and mk 4 knee pads to show the mix of armors, a servo skull as a personal assistant (who needs WITD?). Red and Black Shoulders to represent the 2 Cohorts. The Chapter Badge and 3 fighting organizations adorn the cloak, with a mechanicus style decoration. A heavenfall spear adorned with a Lion. The right knee pad sporting silver and bronze, the colors of the companies that execute the hunt in the chapter.

Id like some help from you guys. Could you help me come up with some names?

for the spear:

for the gun:

for the Master of the Legion:

thanks! i hope you guys like him as much as i did

Oh crap, I was recently brainstorming a name for my own successor Chapter recently and came up with the same name - and I was so happy I came up with something original lol. Well, back to the drawing board.

Lava Knights

Iron Pride

Iron Lions

Brass Lions(?)

Well to be fair mine are called the Legion of the Iron Lion. The iron lions is just the name used for short. It stemmed from a story story i wrote about a tech priest and chapter master both trying to capture a fallen angel for their own reasons. The iron and the lion i called it. Later on i decided to make a chapter based on da successors with mechanicus ties

By all means there can always be 2 chapters with a similar name.

Mine's a second founding chapter, originally made up out of members of the Ironwing, trusted with guarding a secret stash of the Legion's vehicles. They couldn't be stored on the Rock as it wasn't restored yet and they didn't want other organizations trying to yoink some of their old tech or hundred super heavy tanks so they shipped them off to one of their Crusade era fortresses and sealed the vault, placing one of their newly created successors as it's caretakers. So if Azrael rings them and tells them that some other Unforgiven chapter needs a new Falchion or something they pack it up and send it over in some stealthy ship. In the meantime they focus on tank combat and don't really ask the nearby Mechanicus world for replacements.

the idea for mine are 4th founding, post war of the beast. they were created to be ork fighting specialists. the homeworld has had an ork problem since before the great crusade, so the local population are pretty much ork experts, and in turn so are the astartes. the homeworld also has huge mechanicus influence which also leaks into the astartes. marines have augmentations made throughout their lives, more than most chapters, but nearly to the point of iron hands. im still trying to figure out their role with the unforgiven. my idea has changed so much nothing seems to stick though. ive gone from normal chapter, to a less trusted unforgiven chapter, to a barely trusted chapter, (both stemming from mechanicus ties) to a only the master of sanctity knows the true extent of the hunt while the other officers (including chapter master) know a lie as to what the hunt actually is. im trying to figure out their role in the grand scheme, but i really want it to be realistic and  fit in with established lore. out of all the details, this has been the most difficult. even the integration of the primaris into the chapter and hunt were easy comparably . but ill figure it out eventually

Ha! My space marines decided to take leave back in the states while im working in russia!

In all seriousness though, yeah i really need to get my grind on. I might need to pull a page from elmos book and paint like 8 squads at a time. Maybe thatll be faster

Hey guys,

so i cant paint at the moment, but ive had a bout of inspiration. ive decided that i should flesh out my lore. more like rewrite it ha. First Thing i want to start with is the chapter structure.

For the time being, my chapter is set possibly further into the timeline than current. During a fairly recent event in the chapters history that is yet to be written, roughly half of the chapter was destroyed. Primaris have reinforced the chapter. Functionally, half of the chapter is primaris. some creative liberties have been taken with primaris and deathwing. let me know what you guys think.

Legion Command

Master of the Legion (Rubicon Space Marine)

-Grand Arbiter (Space Marine)

-Librarius (Mix of Space Marines and Primaris Marines)

Cohort Leonus Command (Space Marines)

1st Century

1st Centurion

-1st Arbiter

-2 1st Century Lieutenants

-70 Veterans

-30 Knights

*1st Century serves as both Deathwing and Ravenwing. Knights deploy as Deathwing Knights or Black Knights, mission dictating.

2-6th Century

Centurion

-Arbiter

-2 Lieutenants

-10 veterans

-90 space marines

-Varying number of aspirants and neophytes

Cohort Ferrus Command (Primaris Marines)

1st Century

1st Centurion

-1st Arbiter (Space Marine)

-2 1st Century Lieutenants

-80 Veterans

-20 Knights

*1st Century deploy exclusively in Gravis Armor as Aggressors or Inceptors. Knights bear the Mace of Absolution and Storm Shield into battle, or the Spears of Liamane and jump packs into battle. The 1st Century is responsible for the hunt in Cohort Ferrus. (things will change as new models are released)

2-6th Century

Centurion

-Arbiter

-2 Lieutenants

-10 veterans

-90 Primaris marines

-Varying number of aspirants and neophytes

7th Century

Centurion of the Vanguard

-Arbiter

-2 Lieutenants

-10 veterans

-90 Primaris marines

*All Lieutenants are drawn from 1st Century Knights

*Centurions are brought into the chaplaincy by their Arbiter upon ascension from Lieutenant. They do not bear the title of Arbiter.

*Arbiters are second in command to the Centurion. They lead in his stead until a successor is appointed.

*When the Master of the Legion falls, the Grand Arbiter appoints the new Master of the Legion from one of the two First Centurions of Cohort Ferrus or Leonus.

*When the Grand Arbiter falls, the Master of the Legion appoints the new Grand Arbiter from one of the two First Arbiters of Cohort Ferrus or Leonus.

*Fallen knowledge by order of succession is as follows - Master of the Legion=Grand Arbiter > First Centurion=First Arbiter > Arbiter > Centurion > 1st Century Lieutenant > Lieutenant > Knight > First Century Veteran

*Fallen knowledge of the Master of the Legion/Grand Arbiter is roughly equal to that of Belail and Sammael of the Dark Angels.

*Only 3 Arbiters perform interrogations. The Grand Arbiter, the First Arbiter of Cohort Ferrus, and the First Arbiter of Cohort Leonus. They are the Interrogator Chaplains.

*Each century trains its own Marines, except for the 1st Century of both Cohorts and the 7th Century of Cohort Ferrus.

Lord Razgriz, Master of the Legion, delivers the killing blow to the ork warboss Hedcrumpa.

Sooo... no progress on the miniatures still... but i got this cool new art piece made by @Nairazak! I think she did an amazing job, and the details are amazing! i especially love the servo skull getting an up close and personal look at the ork getting a 1 for his armor save ha. The "Lions Helm" is also amazing!

A good art piece needs a good story to go along, and on that note, does anyone know if the writing challenge is still a thing? dont think ive seen it the last 2 or so years

Created new force org chart. Made some changes in fluff regarding deathwing/ravenwing equivalent. biggest change is the renaming of the 2 companies, to be more in line with DA organisation. their colors have been standardized as well. Primaris are officially part of the hunt in the chapter, they make up the Second Century.

created a unique honour guard squad for razgriz:

Mesokshun, Spear of Liamane, champion with power spear and shield
Azziukug, Ancient of the Legion, banner bearer, underslung plasma rifle on right arm
Rendulaiz, The Revenant, Sergeant, personal title received after rubicon, phobos armor, heavy bolt pistol and power sword
Grishkis, Warden of Razgriz, Apothecary with chain spear and pistol
Imicx Etev, The Cirilian, Techmarine, personal title due to coming from Forge World Cirilia, power axe and bolt pistol

Thanks you two, its because of guys like you that ive stayed motivated.

i only stumbled upon b&c when da received their 7thed codex, entirely by accident. There was a push to find all the people who bought collectors edition codex. I had only been playing for about 6 months at that point. Im glad i stuck around. Ive met a few great people here, some have been gone for a while now, and some new ones have arrived, but the camaraderie has always been there.

That's some extensive work in background for your army. I like how your Chapter has a large force of Primaris, it's fluffy that a Chapter with ties to the Mechanicum gets plenty of Cawl's boyz. Ever considered mixing in more of the Mechanicum by adding some of their droids or are you keeping it pure marine?

So the chapter itself is pure marine (on the battlefield at least). each sgt/officer goes into battle with a servo skull who provides tactical aid.

FW Crilia fights along side them "regularly", specifically, Magos Explorator Resplo Telfa and his fleet. He has a knight house detachment and a warhound pack (at minimum) with him at all times. There is a mutual support agreement between himself and the chapter that extends centuries. No marine alive was present at the founding of the agreement. i plan to be able to represent this on the table top one day, apoc army.

This all stems from me wanting a coherent army. I had DA, and i had a free blade. that freeblade become a few knights in a knight house. then skitarii and cult mechanicus came out, and i picked up a few. at this point, i wanted a reason as to why everyone was fighting together. I came up with the initial concept "Of Iron and the Lion", Iron representing the mechanicum, lion the unforgiven (you can see where i got my name from). It was of a magos who came across the hunt by accident in his search of STCs. long story short, he finds out about what the unforgiven are up to. he doesnt care though, he only wants prestige at his FW.  He essentially strong armed the chapter into a mutual support agreement, (mostly) on call support for any shenanigans the chapter is up to, but the chapter must report all stc rumors/finding to him and him only. This story has been remade in my head plenty of times, and its daunting to write. its too long to be a short one post story, and i dont think i could do the story justice. the moments leading up to the war/battle are "easy", its the actual reveal, the i know what youre up to conversation that i cant even begin to imagine.
