Long March wording help

Marshal Loss

In the new soh rite of war, infantry units get a rule based on where the majority of their models are, but the wording doesn't seem to fully clarify whether it means the entire army or the unit in question.

The wording is:

Infantry units with LA:soh gain one of the following special rules from the beginning of their player turn until the end of the opponents next player turn when the majority of its models begin that player turn in the area indicated:

Relentless in friendly deployment

Fleet in no man's land

Crusader in enemy deployment

I am confused as to whether each unit gets a bonus depending on location, or simply all units receive the same bonus. Does 'majority of its models' refer to a unit, or the all units?

I'd appreciate any thoughts on how this should be played. :)

I'd say each unit gets its own rule based on where the models in it are. The idea is to keep them moving forward at top speed basically.

The wording to me is basically: each unit gets one of three rules, which rule they get is based on where the majority of the models in the unit are.

This is how I read it to be honest.

I am curious how you would run Rapier Carriages though. The infantry would get Relentless if they are in your deployment zone therefore giving the USR to your the carriages.

Yeah, I agree with Lysere.

The rule refers to units, but uses "it's models" as a clarifier rather than "their models", which lends itself to a unit by unit basis. This seems a cleaner interpretation.

My first impression was it was on a unit by unit basis, but someone mentioned it was supposed to be where the majority of the models are - and unfortunately, FW didn't do a good job with specificity.

It'd make more sense to me that it's on a unit by unit basis.

The unit's models are what you use to figure out where the majority of the unit is. Not your armies models. They just do majority so you can't leave one guy in your deployment zone and claim relentless with some multi meltas.

Grammatically, the RaW state that it is unit by unit. I do agree though that it isn't necessarily very clear, especially for those who don't speak English as first language.

Wait, why would the rule confer Relentless to rapier carriages. I agree that the crew would get it, but the carriage?

Agreed. The crewmen gain Relentless, the Rapier does not. Relentless is not a conferred rule, unlike S&P.
