Dudes, how to run Sagyar Mazan?

I think anything goes to be honest but I would use Chogorian Brotherhood as it looks like they took their mounts with them. Maybe focus on smaller stuff like Javelins and things like that? Even then it's possible that some of them left with ships with full armouries so you could do what you want really.

I'm starting my own small Scars force, with 20 marines in MkIII and another 20 in "true" MkV (that is, mixed armor types). I was thinking of having the MkV be my Sagyar Mazan, but I'm not sure if that makes sense or not. Or, how to paint them to differentiate them from the normal Scars (black helms/pauldrons? Black gauntlets?). How I run them on the table is TBD (probably veterans).

Opinions are welcome.

I'd definitely go infantry heavy to maximize the ability to deny VP's to the enemy. Remember, the goal isn't necessarily to win and fight another day but to just make sure you take them with you. Don't feel you need to skimp on the tanks and wargear too much though. The Sagyar Mazan looted everything in sight.  That would be a good ROW to field an atypical selection of tanks, like a Medusa squadron or go whole hog and make a Dominus Siege Bombard lol. Stuff that a normal Scars list would never field. The Sagyar Mazan use whatever they can find.

What's everyone using for anti-air? I'm starting an army fluffed out as a long-range ground force, so I'm trying to avoid using air support (I might give up on that idea) and dreadnoughts are too slow. That leaves missile launcher heavy support marines with flak missiles and the Whirlwind Hyperios. Are either worth a try, or are there non-skyfire alternatives? Edited by carlisimo

Only viable option I see would be hyperios tarantula batteries but those dont fit the theme of a long range force.

Other than that you're stuck with a Xiphon, Deredeo, Mortis dread, or flak missile vets/support squad.

Currently plinking through my own little brotherhood and am stumped at what to stick my Praetor on. I've got a rough idea on the conversion, but should I stick him on a Bike or Jetbike?

The Jetbikes seem a lot more suited to keeping their distance, zooming around and pouncing as opportunity arises. Though, the Jink option is tempting. However, Outrider bikers seem like they should be getting a lot closer, especially since 1-3 can get close combat upgrades. At the moment, I'm leaning towards sticking him on a bike. Thoughts anyone?

If he's on a Jetbike, he can still join normal outrider squads.

Might be a nice point of difference too.

It basically boils down to, do you want twin-linked bolters or a Heavy Bolter and a little more mobility.

I certainly wouldn't attach your praetor/khan to a jetbike squad, since they're lousy for the points, offensively, in close combat.  Outriders get a few power weapons and it's easier to jink with them because they don't lose anywhere near as much firepower.  That probably means your praetor should be on a bike too, since the jetbike's speed would be wasted.  You'd also be spending extra points to get the 2+ save that you already have thanks to artificer armor.

On the other hand, I wouldn't be shocked if the White Scars get a special unit consisting of melee-oriented jetbikes.  But that could be a couple of years away.

What about a bike praetor attached to an attack bike squad?  No power weapons, but more wounds for the points and a healthy number of attacks.

Does a Praevian confer Outflank (from Chogorian Brotherhood) to the robots in his unit?

Considering Castellax with Darkfire Cannons and Tank Hunter for anti-tank work.  The problem is the fluff... how would the Castellax have gotten there if they're so slow compared to the rest of the army?

ALL Praevians can provide Scout if you want to :)

Any WS players still alive?

I've started building up a new force, was rather happy that nothing in the FAQ/errata had much of a negative impact on WS armies. Deep Striking things did become considerably more dangerous though.

Why that?

Can't let the Blood Angels have all the fun.

Here's everything I was able to gather from the wonderful people who attended the event.

Qin Xa

- Everyone's seen the picture from the pamphlet FW distributed I assume :tongue.:

Tsolomon Khan the Golden Star
- Praetor stats
- Warlord trait: Inspiring Presence
- MC Thunder Hammer, Combi-Melta, Iron Halo, Artificer Armor
- Can purchase a Scimitar jetbike or Shashmir Jetbike
- If not on Jetbike can buy a Sister of Silence Oblivion Knight-Centura (full Knight-Centura options available)
- Special rule: When charging can opt to only make 1 attack with the TH at his initiative

Ebon Keshig
- Terminators. Free to model as Tartaros or Cataphractii, but the entire unit must be similar
- WS5, W1, 5+ FNP.
- By default all are only equipped with Power Glaives
- Can never score and do not give out VPs when killed
- All can swap out the Glaives for power weapons + guns

Golden Keshig
- 3-6 models on Shashmir Jetbikes
- 280 points for 6 fully kitted out
- Default loadout: CCW/BP, Artificer Armor, Kontos Power Lance, Scatter Bolt Launcher

- 105 points the two HK missiles

Recon Ninjas
- Recon stats, 4+
- 2x Lightning Claws on each model
- Can cheaply buy Cyber Hawk
- Unit can be redeployed before match starts?

Jaghatai Khan
- Stats: WS7, all other stats 6, Ld10, 2+, 5++ vs ranged, 3++ in melee
- On-foot: 385 points
- On jetbike: 460 points, +1 Toughness and -1 Initiative
- Makes Golden Keshig troops
- If in Reserve can declare the turn he automatically arrives and if Outflanking can select the edge
- Always Strikes First in the first turn of combat
- Uses a spear and sword combo both on foot and on jetbike. Spear does ???
- Sword has Duelist's Edge (+1I during challenges) and ???
- Has something related to Hammer of Wrath when charging.
- Sire of the White Scars grants army-wide Scout.
- Rest is still ???

Other:
- Someone mentioned two scimitar jetbike variants. A heavy version and a specialist assault version. No idea if this is reflected in the rules beyond the Shashmir jetbikes.
- Assumed that WS characters with access to scimitars can take shashmirs too.

Very very cool stuff for the Scars.

Wonder what the pattern of bike will look like - hopefully the Bullock pattern but it may be entirely new!

I'm pretty sure they said it'd be a scimitar variant, which made me pretty sad.

I'm dying for more info on the Ebon Keshig. If anyone has any details beyond what's been relayed above, I would love to hear it!

In addition to what Mango Polo said: a poster in the White Scars FB group said they were WS5, all had 1 wound, and had FNP.
