Of Lions and of Wolves.

Good Morning my Brothers. I would like to introduce you to this new Project Log of mine.

Initially this is intended to map out my Hobby Projects over the next few years, to ask advice, collect some knowledge and wisdom, post some lists and ideas, and present my Hobby as it evolves.

The Main idea of the Project is to end up with 2 Large forces of 2 different Legions. Wolves and the Dark Angels.

When picking Legions this time around it was simple to choose the Primarchs I loved the most on the side of the Emperor besides Lord Manus (whom has already tallied many Kill Markings under my command).

Obviously this undertaking is fraught with problems. The first being, we have no idea for rules for Wolves, and we have no idea of units for Angels.

So this is the plan so far

Feb 16 - Release of Book 7

-- Purchase models and units that I know I will use for Wolves, regardless of rules and RoW. I.e Rhinos and Rapiers and Flyers etc. There won't be too much of this as rules and RoW are so pivotal to army planning.

-- The Main bulk of this time is to build an ancillary force which is not a Legion. Mechnicum, Knights, Solar Auxilia or Militia. One of those. It is for you I humbly ask your advice on which is best. I would like SOMETHING I can use as allies with the Wolves for when my friends and I play out the burning of Prospero. I know they use Custodes and Sisters of Silence, but removing the fluff shackles I would like something else (which already has rules and models) to build upon.

Release of Book 7 - Release of Dark Angels Book

-- This will be the day of the Wolf, using a Leman Russ elite CC themed army to assault the sons of Magnus and all those in the traitorous hordes.

Release of Dark Angels Book

-- I will then focus on a Deathwing army to complement my love of hard nuts wearing hard nuts smashing others hard nuts.

The fluff of this, will be focused around two commanders. As yet in unnamed but themed completely shamelessly based on two characters from popular geek culture, the Wolf Hero based on Geralt of Rivia, the Dark Angel based on Varian Wrynn.

Geralt Armed with two unique legendary swords. One for slaying Astartes. One for slaying beasts and Devils. Leading his pack of Hunters, ordered to remove the head of the beast.

Varian armed with a collossul and equally as legendary broadsword, dogmatically chasing down and crushing the forces of chaos and protecting what he see's as his Primarchs Imperium. He goes on to lead his legion to new heights as future Chapter Master of the 'insert new chapter name here, something Lions'.

The two first meet Dulan, at the start of their Legions blistering rivalry.

They meet again as the Angels save the Wolves from the Alaxxes Nebula and return to Terra. The Lion himself gives the Varian Character leave to stay on Terra when he departs, charging him with defending Terra, and also to Watch the Watcher (being Russ)

Geralt and Varian (along with either their Mech, Knights or SA friends) will stand along the ramparts of Terra to repell the traitorous Hordes.

Thoughts? Please?? Haha.

I'm impressed by the willingness to use the time between volumes VII and VIII and prior to that, to get a solid base laid out. Most people would simply moan about how the stuff they want should be out sooner.

I'm probably going to do a high ranking and highly decorated Solar Auxilia Army.

Sent with Russ and Valdor as another military arm to wield against the traitors and used primarily to round up the Spireguard and Civilian populations in the areas surrounding the city of Tizca.

Probably try and keep this to a 500 point army. Focussing on Veletaris with Power Axes and Vehicles. No fortifications or defence as they would be on the attack.

Then, being from Terra I can use them at any point later on.

Ok so going forward with the Solar Auxilia Themed army I have made a 1000 point army to use either as a bolt on force in larger games, but primarily to scratch the hobby itch.

Solar Auxilia 1000 Point army.

HQ

Legate Commander - Lord Marshal Adelbert Steiner 'The Knight of Pluto'

-Artificer Armour

-Paragon Blade

-Master Crafted

-Lord Mashall

Navigator -

Elites

Veletaris Household Retinue- Led by Prime Blutzen

- Power Axes

- Dracosan Transport

-- Extra Armour

-- Auxilary Drive

Troops

Auxilia Tertio Infantry

-Veletaris Storm Section - Led by Prime

- Dracosan Transport

-- Extra Armour

-- Auxilia Drive

What do you think? Not intended to be competitive at all. Just fun :) and great for a modelling opportunity.

And does anyone have any Units they think would and should always be in a Space Wolf army?

Oh there will be! Planning on a few short short stories regarding meetings to introduce certain characters!

Now I need to find the COOLEST model in power armour that can duel wield to represent Geralt.

As above, the idea for this Regiment is to be a Terran Defence Auxilary, having been previously crusading across the Galaxy with the VII Legion. When the Fists were withdrawn from the Frontlines and sent to stand watch over Terra, this force were sent to help over see military training of civilian populations within the more affluent areas of Terra, and acting as Bodyguard and Escort for the army of Architects and Construction Genius' overseeing the rehaul of the Imperial Palace.

When the orders came from the Emperor for the VI legion, and Russ himself, to bring Magnus and his Legion to Terra to suffer punishment for their Infringement of the Edict of Nikea, Lord Marshall Adelbert Steiner, the renowned 'Knight of Pluto' was summoned with the most loyal, trustworthy and outstanding of his Household Retinue to travel with The Wolves on Fenris, the Custodes and the Sisters of Silence.

Going to be Writing up a little story about this, have placed an order with FW for the HQ, Veletaris Volkite Section, and Power Axe Section. No Dracosans yet,

Need to find a Broadsword from Fantasy range to exchange the Legate Commander's sword to be more fitting like Steiners!

Side note, does ANYONE have any advice on what units they would thing are really Wolf like and would be a good basis for an army to get a head start on?

Do you mean Astartes units? Veteran tactical squads, Seekers and maybe jump pack units sound like the way to go to me.

Sounds solid, fluffwise.

For the wolves, Despoiler Squads for Blood Claws, vet. tacs as Grey Hunters, maybe seeker/recon squads to represent the more specialized, wolfy stalkers, slinking around to lunge at the unsuspecting prey

Did they have Blood Claws/Grey Hunters around the HH?

I agree with Pastelavenger that Mk. II and III would be most prevalent, but the timeline puts it after Davin and more or less simultaneously with Istvaan III, so Mk. IV would also be in regular usage, though maybe in smaller numbers, as Horus hogged the good stuff for his own Legion and his pals.

Ultimately, as long as you don't go full Mk. VI, you should be good.
