Nemean Reaver

This Blackshield Reaver Lord of 30k was said to be formerly from the First Legion...

"No certain record holds the true name of the Blackshield Reaver Lord who became known throughout the Pale Stars as the Nemean Reaver -or simply the Nemean. It is generally held that he was once an officer of the 1st Legion -the Dark Angels- though this is far from certain. An unconfirmed rumour that attached itself to this figure pointed the Nemean as the survivor of the Rangdan Xenocides, the apocalyptic conflict that saw the nascent Imperium threatened with the destruction and he had already entered the legends of the Legiones Astartes long before the heresy.

Whether true or not, that rumour ascribed the Nemean Reaver the attributes of a veteran of this dark and terrible conflict, and speaks to the ruthless and inhuman reputation this Blackshield commander had achieved in the brief span of years that formed the Horus Heresy's middle phase, known post-commonly as the Age of Darkness.

Evidence suggests that after the Pale Star conflict, the Nemean Reaver, or at least a figure claiming that name, would in the later years of the war come to serve Malcador the Sigilite, a duty that culminate upon the walls of Terra at the very climax of the Horus Heresy."

That bit of wargear gives me the slightest hope for future wargear options for DA.

I was so disappointed with the Calibanite Warblade and Terranic Greatsword rules. AP3 in the Age of Darkness is awful! Especially for a legion who's sole benefit is in close combat :/

One of rare Dark Angels blade that is actually feels better than even the 40k's Heavenfall Blade lol

Terran and Caliban swords should be more impressive in their rules lol

I'd rather NOT have a ton of Ap2 at initiative weapons in 30k like 40k is becoming. With Ap3 we're still absolutely crushing space marine legionnaires in close combat. The terranic warblade will destroy anyone other than a primarch.

The Nemean Reavers weapon seems great for what it is, a special characters weapon. It is a cool possibility that our terminators could get them or their sergeants.

Or any given Sergeant with Artificier armour and a power fist.

Hahaha, you're not serious? The Terranic Warblade will bounce off a line sergeant in artificer armour, nevermind terminators, other independent characters and most dedicated assault units (as the majority of them are now coming in artificer armour). It is a terrible weapon for a close combat oriented IC, especially when stacked up against the basic White Scar's power glaive (which is amazing) or some of the Blood Angel relics.

Similarly the Calibanite Warblade is just 'okay' in a meta where sergeants routinely get artificer armour and can just tank our sergeants by challenging and laughing at our pathetic AP3.

In short, our legion specific weapons suck when we're being pushed into a close combat centric specialisation through our luke-warm legion rules. Our praetors are better off with paragon blades, our ICs are better off with power fists or power axes and the same is true of our line sergeants. If our legion rules are effectively forcing us to take swords (otherwise we're just a vanilla legion) then we should have been given access to AP2, even if it was a two-handed sword with +2S, AP2 and unwieldy.

I agree that we don't want a preponderance of AP2 at Initiative, but if anyone was going to get it, we should have been amongst them. Instead we get upgrades that will never be taken except for purely fluff reasons. Which is pretty disheartening when other legions get fluffy upgrades that are also effective.

Uhh... no, he won't.

Assuming a DA praetor goes up against a model with equal or lower Weapon Skill he's hitting on 3s, wounding on 2s and the enemy is saving on a 2+. That means a grand total of 0.37 wounds dealt by this master swordsman and all your opponent needs to do is pass 2 x 2+ saves to completely negate your praetor. So that's a 69% chance for the best CC model in your army doing absolutely nothing when faced with an opponent with a 2+ save.

Total. Garbage.

Now obviously every now and then your opponent will roll a 1 for his save and you'll kill his IC with artificer armour outrigh, but I don't build my battle plans on something that only works 31% of the time. If I did I'd be playing Orks.

EDIT: grammar is tough.

For the price you save on the Paragon Blade you can take digital lasers for +1 Attack, which levels the playing field.

Praetor+Iron Halo+Paragon Blade vs Dark Angels Praetor+Terranic Greatsword+Iron Halo+Digital Lasers. Ours costs 5 points more, so an even playing field.

End result is this. Sorry for the blurry picture. Assuming you get stasis off you strike first on the charge, but even without you're doing OK.

You still probably shouldn't be going against a Blade of Perdition, and EC won't help, but we should be trying to steal the charge whenever we can, given stasis only works if we charge.
