Black Cohort Posted March 19, 2016 Share Posted March 19, 2016 Many of you have probably seen some photos of parts of my Salamanders army posted various places but I haven't really talked about the background or had a large group of photos in the same thread. My goal is to create a Salamander force just after Istvaan, a conglomerate of several units that took too many casualties to operate separately. Because of the dire supply situation they are using whatever gear they can scrounge, so it is rare that a marine has a complete suit of a single mark of armour and there is a mishmash of bolters and other weapons. And because of their lack of numbers you won't see any regular tactical squads. Veteran Squad 1 with heavy bolters Veteran Squad 2 with melta guns Veteran Squad 3 with heavy flamers Breacher squad with grav guns Contemptor with assault cannon and power fist Land Raider Terminator HQ Artificer armour HQ Artificer armour Chaplain Apothecary Currently Awaiting paint 2 rhinos 5 terminators 5 firedrakes 2nd apothecary To be built 5 pyroclasts seekers If anyone wants more photos of a specific model or unit just ask and I can provide them. A squad of Pyroclasts A squad of Firedrakes A Praevan with his pets Most recently I completed the seeker squad I seem to currently lack photos of my regular terminator squad and my second apothecary. I just acquired a burning of propero so my 30k backlog to build/paint looks something like: Salamander Contemptor with dual Kheres (unassembled) Tartaros Terminator Squad with 4 volkite, plasma blaster and 2 chain fists (mostly built) 10 breachers (from BoP + FW boarding assault upgrade kits which are in the mail) 5 volkite support marines (BoP +bits, currently on sprue) 5 plasma support marines (BoP +bits, currently on sprue) 5 missile heavy marines (BoP +bits, currently on sprue) Knight Errant Librarian (converted from Ahriman) Sisters of Silence (waiting to see what 30k rules look like) Custodes (3 man spear squad + banner + other to be built later) This also leaves me with about 10 more marine bodies including 5 from BoP, plus the wolf character and the FW legion praetor pack, which I have a couple ideas for: Option A A 10 man Salamander tactical squad plus a few more HQ choices. Option B A loyalist Death Guard allied contingent with a tactical squad, an HQ and an apothecary As always your comments and critiques are appreciated. Most of it is in pieces right now because I find it easier to paint models in pieces. All the terminators, custodes and sgts are getting greenstuff cloaks of some kind. I probably have about half the models from the box built at this point. The 10 man breacher squad I have built will start getting paint tomorrow. For now I leave you with a few shots of the breacher sgt, currently the arms and head are held in place with blue tack. As always your comments are appreciated. Thanks, for the most part i didn't want the more square cloak look because the cloaks are made of some kind of reptile hide and it doesn't make sense to me that they would end up square. Awesome work brother always good to see more drakes Thanks. Update: A bunch of stuff got primed tonight and is starting to get painted. A 10 man breacher squad is being worked on now, with the start of the terminator squad with volkite, a support squad with volkite and a custodes with a banner also getting primed. Most of the breacher squad is done, except for the sgt. A primus medicae is in progress and the terminator volkite squad is all built primed and will be worked on next.
