Brotherhood of the Shattered Spear

Recommended Posts

"A witch? No, I am Zadyin Arga. I gaze into the turmoil of the storms, and there, the Heavens reveal the paths we may tread."
- Moghuchin, Stormseer of the Brotherhood of the Shattered spear, to Remembrancer Bertimon D'Hust.

Note Chogorian Caligraphy on the various sheets of parchment attached to the Stormseers armour

"While most members of the Vth. Legion placed great store in their bladework, I came across several exceptional individuals amongst the brotherhood. While Tenghudai Khan himself was certainly the most skilled with the curved swords favoured by the Chogorians, none were as skilled with the Glaive-like Guan-Dao as Bathestur, which was most likely why he was named Minghan Bataar, literally "Hero of the Brotherhood", in practice the champion to the Khan. His armour, again an unfamiliar pattern to me, is a higly artificed set of Mk. VI, optimised for speed and mobility, while giving up very little in terms of protection."

Chogorian symbols were widely utilized amongst the veteran elements of the Brotherhood

While the Sons of the Khan were widely known for their speed and ferocity in the saddle, they would utilize every tool nescessary to overcome the enemies of Human Unity. While all warfare was generally treated as a great hunt, there were those amongst the Vth. Legion who took on the role of the hunter of specific prey. These were organized into dedicated units, only designated as "Anchin", hunters. Peerless marksmen and hunters, they would target enemy leadership and other key personnel, adding to the confusion and unpredictablity that characterized the White Scars way of war.

Just gonna throw it out there - that last bike's got a choom and zoom combo. The best combo.

Choom&Zoom, that'll be my new motto right there :biggrin.:

I dig all of this

Glad you like it!

Inspired conversion for the champion.

Thanks, I was originally going to use him stock as a Vigilator, but this came to me while pondering other potential uses.

Well done Brother, especially loving the Stormseer.

Thank you very much.

Love the psychic hood the way you have done it, gives a great sense of the power running through it. Great work!

Nemac

Thanks, must say I've really come to like Tamiya Klear Blue for a lot of things :)

The Stormseer and "Anchin" Seekers look great. :cool.: What did you use for the silencers?

They're the protrusions from the Grey Knight-tellyporta-backpacks.

Love the hunters, great use of bits...

And that blue "glow" on the librarian is very nice

Thank you. I am rather fond of it too, and quite simple to do. I expect to use it on various other things in the future too.

Hunters are an especially nice addition. Always cool to see bits of a Legion that rarely feature in the fluff

Yeah, while I do love the wild riders that are the mainstay of most depictions of the Scars, I also really like to draw on the fact that the real Golden Horde was more than just peerless horsearchers in huge numbers. They were a versatile force who employed psychological warfare, espionage and sabotage to great effect, coupled with an unpredictability and ruthlessness that their enemies wasn't used to. Trying to get that across in my Brotherhood as well.

Great work on the psychic hood

Love the idea of a dedicated WS sniper unit

Glaive looks suitably intimidating

Thanks. I've already used the Anchin (Regular ol' Seekers in-game) to great effect, blasting Thousand Sons Librarians and their accompanying Tac. Veterans to bits, and the Champion had a great time against a Cataphractii Praetor who'd left his Paragon Blade at home.

It hurt like hell, I needed some rhinos for cover!

But I can't say this to many times "Loooove that psychich hood!"

Is there a plan for the Brotherhood's path? Just cos this popped into my head:

"Our brothers walked the Path of Heaven, guided by the soul-light of Yesugei. We, however, could not walk that path lest we bring the traitors with us. So we took a different road. Ancient Terra had a word for it, but it defeats the Chogorian tongue. We translate it as gurz tur-i, the crucible and trial."

Well, in my head, that's basically the path of this Brotherhood: Deployed away from the Legion, they get the memo on the treachery of Horus a little late, and being unable to join the main body of the Legion (Wrong side of the Warmasters lines, as it were), so they roam and lend their might where they can, until they rejoin the Khagan when he returns to Terra.

And that quote is perfect really.

Bathestur is the most interesting use of the 30th anniversary marine I've seen yet, well done. Love the open handed pose of the stormseer too.

Thanks, I wanted to make something special with him, and although the Disintegration Gun would've worked great for a Vigilator, this just seemed more appropriate :D

Dang! I can't believe I haven't seen this thread before- great stuff, mate! Love everything about these, especially the jet bikes. Keep up the great work!

Do you have a group shot?

Thank you for the kind words! More Jetbikes are on their way from Forgeworld... AlsoI didn't have any recent group shots, but I had some spare time to myself before work today:

Holy crap mate this army is looking stunning. That Storm Seer is sweet!

Thanks Brother! And he's my personal favourite non-jetbiker model in the army.

I now really want to write a story about some Scars and Ravens. Damn my still broken tablet

They're an interesting pairing, no doubt. Let me know when that happens :)

That's a fantastic army, Brother Pheidias. Individual but cohesive, beautiful, but dangerous.

Ahhh... looks like a trip to fleabay may be in order. :tongue.:
