It begins! Please read the Challenge description for the month!

April

April is upon us and I, Divine Overseer of Vault 022 (Casual Challenge Experiment) Nevindar hereby opens up the thread for the month!

We all know how this works by now, pledge some models to paint this month, build your armies, and enjoy the opportunity to stick it to the Traitors/Loyalists. Full rules can now be found in the Hall of Victors thread - where anyone involved so far should feel happy to post their full army shots!

There is something important coming back this month that I have been lax in enforcing. Pledges should be completed before any additional models are pledged and models need to be pledged to be counted for the casual challenge.

As a basic reminder, every model you pledge to paint is worth points. Once you finish the model and show us you earn points for your faction. These are always safe, so there is always an incentive to keep painting! The scores are as follows -

Please include if you are Traitor or Loyalist in your post. And Legion, that would be nice too!
And if you pledge a character that can be in either Terminator or Power/Artificer armour, please mention that too!

Infantry - 1 point;
Large Infantry (terminators, bikes, rapiers without crew etc.) - 2 points;
Monstrous infantry - 3 points;
Vehicles and Fortifications - 6 points;
Lord of War (including Primarchs)- 10 points;
Warhound Titan – 15 points;
Reaver Titan – 20 points (still hoping to see one someday!)
(If you feel like painting a Warlord Titan for the Challenge… We can work something out)
Building pledge is a quarter of a point for the model pledged, and if the model is also “upgraded” with a paint job in the same month it will receive full points for painting but none for the build itself.

Seeing as the Loyalty and Treachery challenge is on, have no fear of joining in the Casual Challenge as well! The more the merrier and let’s give Kor’Vesh something to read through once he gets back!

So brothers, sisters, post-humans and machine creations, for the Emperor or for Horus let's see some pledges!

Jerichus: They did kill off the only Loyalists and so on...and left the Imperium to fight for itself.... Nevermind though, what are the sizes of the units you pledged? :)

I've got another rather large order on the inbound and im unsure on the date of its arrival plus unsure if I should save them for etl (I want to, its just soooo hard).

For now ill pledge to build ten tactical's for the loyalists (space wolves) as prep for etl. If the order shows ill make additional pledges after the tacs are done.

Ok, checked out my minis.

Terminator with Thunderhammer and Combi-Flamer for MotL it is!

Trying to be as frugal as possible with models for ETL use.

 Currently sitting on:

  • 10 Culverins
  • 10 Jump Pack Destroyers
  • 10 Phalanx Warders
  • 10 Templar Brethren
  • 5 Storm Shield and Power Axe Terminator
  • Kitbashed Dorn
  • Moritat w/ Jump Pack
  • Consul w/ Jump Pack and Sol Glove
  • 20 Tac Vets w/ Bolters and 4 Heavy Bolters

So yeah, trying not to dig into that reserve since I havent had the disposable income to MAKE IT RAIN on Forgeworld stuff all that much recently what with school and all.

So yeah.

Cataphractii Terminator w/ Thunderhammer & Combi-Flamer.

I, Aeternas, of two-fold failure, pledge to paint the mighty Knight Atrapos Moros of House Nyx, on deployment alongside Legio Achlys, Legio Ulricon, and the VIIIth Legion Astartes. And Knight Scion Aesina, of House Nyx. For the Warmaster!

I promise, I'll complete it this time ;)

As a side note, can I count a seated Knight Scion as a separate miniature?

As stated in the intro text this month, pledges must be completed before any additional pledges will be accepted. This is mainly to add some structure that used to be found in the challenge.. ;)

Aeternas: Since the point of the challenge is to encourage painting, I'd say that the seated one is a separate miniature worth 1 point, just as standard infantry.

Slips: That backlog ain't nothing compared to mine ;)

BBS: emomarines? EMOMARINES? yeesh

Also I do encourage buildpledges this month since the ETL is starting next month. And remember that whatever goes into the ETL challenge can be pledges into the Casual challenge as well :)

Can we pledge to build instead of paint? I'm trying to save everything for ETL.

If so then I, ThatOneMarshal pledge for the " traitor" Night Lords Legion to build 30 terror marines with choom.

Let's see if I can actually complete an event for once, I've been in a stump since ETL 3.

Do no one ever read the intro post of this challenge? ;)

Building pledge is a quarter of a point for the model pledged, and if the model is also “upgraded” with a paint job in the same month it will receive full points for painting but none for the build itself.

I, Ironwrought Huw, pledge to paint a 10 man heavy support squad (missile launchers), 5 cataphractii pattern terminators and a predator executioner turret (no chassis).

As ever I'll be pledging for the loyalist team, via the glorious Iron Tenth . Although I have been experimenting with yellow paint...

If build pledges are a thing - I pledge a single quad launcher, a 5 man legion command squad, a 6 man Blackshield Marauder squad plus 3 myrmidon destructors.

Off to Warhammer World this weekend, so might get a second pledge of extra builds by then.

All in preparation for ETL.

I've got two questions:

- Is it okay to pledge Be'lakor, as an ally to my word bearers?

- When painting my marines I like to keep the backpacks, shoulderpads, heads and weapons seperate. Does this count as having them build, in the spirit of thcasual hobby challenge? (For a build only pledge)
