++In Black Rain of Fire and on Rolling Thunder of Steel They Came, a Storm to End the World++

gallery_38474_6916_51566.jpg

Brother of the Black Templars, mount your steeds of iron and steel, and brace to fall from the skies on to the glorious battlefield! A challenge is issued to us all, and in righteous delight, we will answer the call!
This event is dedicated to our oft neglected transport detachments. With the upcoming holy Crusade upon the fifth ETL, our ranks are soon to see a swell in eager Neophytes, zealous Initiates, and honored Sword Brethren. But they have to get to the field somehow, now don't they?
Seeing as they are so low in point value and time intensive models to build and paint, our precious Rhinos, Razorbacks, and Drop Pods are largely unfit for the coming Crusade, but essential all the same to our Chapter's persecution of the mutant, the xenos, the heretic, and the kitten. Many of us have just such models sitting on our work benches, gathering dust, in various static lives between the sprue and completion.
The purpose of this event is to get important models finished, clear space off our collective workbenches, and get that painting mojo flowing in advance of the ETL.
The rules of this event are simple, and in light of the currently cluttered schedule for all our Crusade building needs, somewhat lenient. Participants will make the following vow:
I, (name), in the name of noble Dorn and honored Sigismund, hereby vow myself to the completion of (model/models), by the end of May 31. Upon completion, I will be accept the banner of triumph. Should I fail, I will wear the mark of shame until July 1, that all may know my debt of honor to the Eternal Crusade.
The following models are eligible for submission:
Rhinos
Razorbacks
Drop Pods
With the announcement of your participation, submit a photo of the model or models vowed in whatever state they may currently be in. Whether on the sprue, primed, or even half painted, all are legitimate vows. Upon completion, post a photo of your finished work.
You are allowed to pledge the same models to Knightfall and the ETL, if you wish. But bear in mind the ETL typically requires a model be no farther into production than the priming phase when pledged.
At the end of the event, a special banner will be granted to the most productive participant based on total models completed, and to best in show as determined by a group of unbiased judges.
So take the vow, get your painting juices flowing to beef yourself up for the Crusade to come, and get those transports cleared off of your desks and on to the gaming table!
Banners to mark your oaths will be available shortly. smile.png

I, (AndrewChristlieb), in the name of noble Dorn and honored Sigismund, hereby vow myself to the completion of (2 Razorbacks and a Rhino), by the end of May 31. Upon completion, I will be accept the banner of triumph. Should I fail, I will wear the mark of shame until July 1, that all may know my debt of honor to the Eternal Crusade.

Edit: photos when I get home.

Edit 2: grumble "vauge" grumble. Fine 2 razorbacks and a rhino. I've been sitting on these for over a year now so might as well buckle down and get em done. Further to atone for my "vagueness" one will feature a little extra for our Chaotic antagonizers that seem to be poping up lately... ;)

A whopping 6 models vowed by my fellow chaplain!  That's a lot of work for a little under 2 months.  I applaud your bravery.

Remember, pics are required of all pledged models before completion.

Although now I wonder if my paint pattern is fair game (IF Templar, yellow and black with crusade crosses, so it's usable across 40k Templars / 30k Sigismund's IF). I hope that's valid >_>

I do the same with my devastators ^^

I have two pods at the ready, but I'm still waiting for my airbrush to arrive. I'll pledge my oath once the brush is up and working.

I, Marshal Mattias, in the name of noble Dorn and honored Sigismund, hereby vow myself to the completion of TWO DROP PODS by the end of May 31. Upon completion, I will accept the banner of triumph. Should I fail, I will wear the mark of shame until July 1, that all may know my debt of honor to the Eternal Crusade.

---

They are both around half-painted, but languished for a long time. If this gets my Zeal going, I'll try and get another vow of part-painted transports in, (but I intend to have any non-ETL stuff complete before the ETL starts - nothing shall hamper my time for The Crusade!)

There's a little paint or dry brush done here and there, but they're both a total mess :P

Not a massive contribution to the cause, but its what I've got. So where do we post our before/after pics?
Edit.

My dear Neophyte, you underestimate the true foe of man. The fuzzy cuddleness is a trap of the most foul heresy, veiling a heart of purest cruelty and deception. To be lax in our guard against such blasphemy is to invite damnation!

Now all I need to know: How do I upload pictures? ph34r.png

If you want to use the BnC gallery (which I do), at the top left of the page is your avatar, next to your name. Click the name, go to "My Gallery," and the rest is pretty intuitive from there.

If you use imagephotoshackbucketwhatever, you can use the image's link to a post it using the image button, which is roughly in the middle of the bar with Bold, Italic, Underline etc. above the text box. Or you can do it old school, typing [ img ] and [ /img ] on either side of the link, without the spaces between the brackets and the letters.

Thank you! I'll try the first variant. As of now, the servers seem to have some issues wacko.png

Would these be considered too far down the assembly line to enter?

I've put the decals on very early in the process so that damage etc also covers the markings (looks less like a sticker that way)

Drop pod WIP

Maybe 2-3 hours per pod remaining: basing some key areas, washing the metal parts, damage, dirt, edging.
