simison
Is it realistic for a light cruiser to have only a single squad of space marines onboard?
Chief Captain Redd
Yeah, not all ships in a legion fleet are to transport Astartes, pure weapons ships would be a misuse of Transhumanist man power.
simison
I ask because the Advance of Progress was designated a light cruiser, but canon says only a squad for a light cruiser. This is in spite of a light cruiser having a crew of 65,000. So, I'm wondering why only a single squad is allowed given the thousands already on board.
Beren
As Redd said, its not so much a matter of being allowed as being needed. You don't need more than a squad of Astartes on a ship that isn't supposed to board others and ideally shouldn't be boarded itself. Ships actually meant for boarding or Astartes transportation will probably have more.
simison
To cut to the heart of the matter, is it realistic for a light cruiser to have a hanger and 100 marines onboard if it was designed that way?
Beren
I'd say so.
