Imperial Fists - "welcome to the suck"-edition

Greetings,

I like to introduce myself with my newest army - the Imperial Fists: "welcome to the suck"-edition.

All my army builds and paintjobs are not based on fluff or gaming, for I am not a gamer nor very familiar with the fluff. I paint everything the way I think it looks good. smile.png So, no - they are not all Veteran Sergeants. tongue.png

What all my armies have in common though, is a dirty, worn and censored.gif up look. I don't like my Space Marines all clean and shiny like they're having their first day in Astartes-School.

Anyway, I hope you like them. Oh, and sorry for the large image size, hope that doesn't go against the forum rules...

Thanks to both of you!

"Welcome to the suck" refers to the situation these marines are in right now: why they are dirty, wrecked and damaged. And why the bold sergeant has a look on his face like he is willing to blow your head off if you look in his direction... you know? ;)

Okay, that's some *damn* fine weathering you've got, man. Thanks for posting them! Pictures have been saved and put in the inspiration folder on my PC.

Thank you all for your kind words! And the standing ovation of course. ;) It is very appreciated. Keeps me up posting new (or older) stuff.

FYI - There is still one mini in the making, every Army needs a leader. I can't say how it comes out in the end, but I will post it as soon as he is finished.

Not usually a fan of heavy weathering or OSL- but these are really nice. Definitely like em. Still not sold on the headlight OSL effect on the razorback (and presumably on the vindi) but if you like it that's cool. Also the 'veteran sergeant helmets' really bother me (ultramarines player) but I won't deny that they look great! Really great job! Looking forward to more!

Yeah...those are the best Fists I've ever seen.

I love the concept of the "well worn" IF.  Fits their style of fighting nicely.

Great weathering.  Oils?

Only complaint is the OSL on the one Rhino's headlights...just a bit too much for my tastes and the white doesn't contrast enough with the yellow.

These are super awesome dude. I love seeing marines who have been knee deep in the :cuss. These guys definitely have that feel. The yellow looks great and despite how worn they are the paintjob itself is super smooth. Excellent work!

Thanks guys! Actually these OSL on the tanks are the only things that are really bothering me too... but I was to lazy to make it right and now they are gone.

The whole wheathering process isn't that complicated. I began by beating them up with a Dremel tool. (not sure if I do that again :D) Then basecoat everything except for the eyes or lenses, and give them a gloss varnish. After that, drown the brothers in AK Interactive Track Wash (goes great with yellow) and let it dry. Clean up by using white spirit with a cotton bud or a brush and cover it with matt varnish. To finish up, set some highligts, put them on their bases and cover the ground and their feet with a combination of pigments. Finally they get a covering coat of matt varnish again. That's the whole magic.

I'm probably going to paint some more Fists in the near future, so I could do a more detailed tutorial.

These are amazing!!!!

You know what else is awesome? When you said "no they aren't all veteran sergeants" you actually are correct. The imperial fists during their early years had red helmets with white stripes to honor the "blood and bone of the imperium".

To be honest, it was my laziness that kept me from adding grenades and gun holsters. Besides, I don't like the look of those holsters. In my opinion they don't fit to the power armor, since they look like they're made out of leather or cloth. GW should make some new ones with the look of metal or any other "hard" material.

For the varnishes I used the ones from Vallejo, thinned them down with water in a 1:1 ratio and applied it with the airbrush.

I actually read about this "blood and bones of the imperium" thing somewhere too and that was the main reason why I finally decided to make the helmets red and white. :)

Thank you!

More tanks are coming soon. Maybe. ;) The guy who bought them is building his army and told me that he plans on adding some Rhinos. If so, I'll keep you updated!

Unfortunately I forgot to make some good photos from the Captain before I sent it to the customer. :/

I made some pictures with my mobile though. Going to post it later. :)
