Making black interesting.

Recommended Posts

I did mine with an airbrush. Primed the model with black spray paint, and then highlighted the armor with eshin grey. The few edge highlights that were done was with dawnstone.

Apologies GrandMagnus I gave you duff information. I checked and I actually used Skavenblight Dinge. I took a picture to show you, again you'll have to accept more apologies as my camera is poor. I hope I've been of some help anyway!

No problem, everybody makes mistakes ;)

That black looks nice, a bit greyish but I guess that could be the camera. I will still have to test it on a model so I can see it for myself. Thanks for sharing.

I gave it a wash of Nuln Oil, I guess repeated applications would darken it still. It's not too grey (in my opinion) IRL, the photo isn't great quality I'm afraid.

Yeah, that's what I figured, that it is probably the photo quality. I will stll try it out thought :)

There are three really nice tutorials on Tale of Painters you might want to take a look at. All black armour (Death Company and Iron Hands), slightly different recipes:

Iron Hands

Death Company 1

Death Company 2

Thanks for sharing. The last one, "Death Company 2", is really nice.
