Ace job!

I do agree that in many ways he is a little bland and archetypal, but I figure a new character is like a new pair of shoes - you've got to break 'em in! It's all in how you move him from "cowboy in space" to "40k member of the Inquisition."

If anyone else is reading this and considering joining in, please feel free to speak up!

I wonder if the player of Tellon Rand is still available for this?

I spoke to you, Marovian and Brambleten - Brambs is busy with real life (and your Rogue Trader game), Marovian is currently battling to register here on the B+C (He's sent an email to the admins and is waiting to hear back.) Dave38x, Tychonaut and Cothbarton are all too flaky at the moment to take it up, I think.

Edit: So, at the moment it seems we have:

- Artemis Stroud (Marovian) - Arbitrator, Acolyte Prime

- Astelan (Easy E) - Scribe

- Asaph 6-72 (Noctus Cornix) - Tech-Priest of the Biologis

- Wyl Munny (The Psycho) - Desperado and Drifter

- XXXXXXX (JackDaw) - Criminal, Penal Legionnaire

The cell is relatively rounded, but there is scope for more players, if people are interested. I'll put a tentative start date of Monday 16th up so we can start gearing up towards the game.

Don't start just yet!

Heading to bed now but gimme 24 hours to make a character that would make a good addition. I wanted to do a tech priest, but Noctus already made a good one, Easy E then made a cool scribe >.< I'll have a good addition ready tomorrow.

I'm feeling tempted, but I'm still on the fence on whether or not playing in the first two RPG games to grace B&C is being a bit greedy. :P

I feel that temptation, bro. But way I see it, the more diverse the player and GM pool, the more this subforum will grow.

So I'll settle for just the one game. For now.

Well, it all comes down to how much time you're able to commit. I'm happy to have interesting characters and interested players! Olis, if you're interested, I'm happy to have you.

Skinrider, do let me know the type of character you want to play, and I am sure that we can sort something out. :)

Alright. Let's push the boat out a bit: I'd like to try a psyker. ^_^

Let's just say I like the idea of not playing her super-safe, just to see how short of a shelf-life she will have...

Playing a Sanctionite will be interesting; the cell has never had a psyker and i think it will be interesting to consider how one works with their fellows. Cool also that you are planning to play a female!

I look forward to seeing her take shape soon!

Perhaps I should have mentioned this earlier, but I will be unavailable for a little over a week (8 days) from 24 June to 2 July. In the scale of things it's a pretty brief time and I'm sure it won't affect the campaign overmuch, but I figure I should warn the other players (and Mol, of course!) ahead of time, so it isn't too much of a surprise. Obviously, if it's too big of a problem I can drop out of the game.

I do have a pretty clear idea of how I want to play Wyl now. His full backstory and character (though I won't disclose it, since it's sorta hazy still detailwise and I kinda want to keep it a bit of a surprise, though if you need more details, my PM inbox is always open) is really starting to take shape in my head.

My previous post stands - Septimus Cell was originally named for having seven members, and my game can certainly accommodate such.

Send me a PM!

Optimus and Olis: I've replied to the PMs.

Whilst the Lady Amaranthe hasn't been met, certainly all indications are that she follows a puritan (or certainly orthodox) leaning. Well, if your characters had any idea that the Inquisition is a fractured and divided organisation, that is. If she is radical, then that isn't something that she is going to reveal to the lowly acolytes of one of her many Cells!

Marovian/Easy: I'm currently considering whether to keep Zarkov as a character - he perhaps works well as a foil and the moral compass of the group. Unless, that is, a player chooses to create a priest as a replacement. Zarkov also works as a fallback instead of a character loss (or player gain) or a character death.

EDIT:

JackDaw: Your mementos are a marked deck of cards, and an Ork tooth. On other note - for whatever reason, white text doesn't show on the mobile version of the B+C, so just bear that in mind!

Would Zarkov be a GM controlled player or more of an NPC/bench? Based on the characters signing up we may need one! Should be fun to see Stroud's reaction to the penal legionnaire.

Nolan Reeve

Affiliation: Septimus Cell (The Lady Amaranthe)

Status: ACTIVE

Divination: “Truth is subjective.”

Physical Description

Age: 34

Five years with the Harlanite Interior Guard and three years of indentured service in the Penitent 134th  have hardened him to the vagaries of combat and left their marks on both his body and soul. Lean and rangy in stature, Nolan Reeve nevertheless has retained the physical attractiveness that was a major part of his success as a criminal.

Personality

Nolan Reeve possesses a certain rakish charm and pleasant demeanour at odds with his status as a Penal Legionnaire but entirely in line with his past as a confidence trickster and black marketeer. However, this smiling façade covers hidden depths and after three years in a Penal Legion, Reeve is no longer sickened or surprised by the violence and degradation of life in the 41st Millenium.

Prior Life

Rank/Position: Penal Legionnaire serving with the Penitent 134th

A petty thief, smuggler and confidence trickster born and living on Harlan's World, Nolan Reeve was forcibly 'recruited' to the Imperial Guard during a tithed Founding and found himself enlisted with the Harlanite Interior Guard. Not relishing the prospect of a short but brutal experience on the frontlines, Reeve bent his considerable charm and talents towards ensuring that he would never be posted to a frontline combat unit and instead could profit from the various underground and illicit trading rings that are a natural part of life in the glorious Imperial Guard.

Five years of faked and coerced medical certificates, fabricated paperwork, favours, blackmail, manipulation of Administratum staff and dockets, outright lies and a profitable run in blackmarket trading ensured that Nolan Reeve avoided any frontline combat whatsoever while also accruing a sizable fortune in Imperial crowns and credits. When he was eventually caught by Administratum data-scourges and the Commissariat, it was joked that his standard issue lasrifle had never actually been fired in anger and still bore the trigger stud seal.

Standing trial at a military tribunal, the presiding Commissar-Judge decreed that in an act of karmic justice, the man who had so diligently avoided combat would not be executed but would be exposed to the most immediate horrors of combat in the form of transfer to a Penal Legion. There, it was hoped, Nolan Reeve would learn that duty was a serious weight to carry.

Three years of service in the Penal Legion known as the Penitent 134th has hardened Reeve into a competent killer and removed the boyish and jocular charm that he once possessed. Instead, Nolan Reeve is now as charming as a serpent, and as dangerous as one in the right circumstances.

Inquisitorial Service

Nolan Reeve has never had any previous direct contact with the Inquisition.

Weaponry
The indentured of Reeve's Penal Regiment are issued with a sole sidearm that they are expected to carry at all times, with ammunition being supplied as and when they are deployed. Additional arms such as lasrifles or autoguns are provided if stocks or mission circumstances allow. The standard issue sidearm is the Arrum 9 series combination laspistol, commonly referred to as the Jackal.  The Arrum 9 utilises a cylindrical breech-loaded charge pack for main offensive use and a single-shot hard-round chamber that can use specialist ammunition. These hard-round types were usually issued to fit a mission parameter and could range from incendiary to armour piercing to flechette.

e4b61404-5079-484c-8620-fcedd91df06b_zps

As might be expected of a Penal Legionnaire, Nolan Reeve also possesses a number of handmade blades and is skilled in the preparation and use of improvised weapons. Basic Imperial Guard training has also made him proficient with las and auto rifles.

Clothing

Nolan Reeve currently only possesses his Penal Legion fatigues

Equipment
Nolan Reeve currently only possesses his Jackal and a number of homemade blades. However, he is skilled at acquiring whatever he needs within a short amount of time.

Mementoes

An Ork tooth – a trophy from Reeve’s first deployment with the Penitent 134th against the xenos menace of the Grashkal Tribe. The Orkoid beast in question was responsible for nineteen deaths in Reeve’s unit before it was eventually brought down.

Marked deck of cards – a typical tool of the conman and trickster, this deck of playing cards has been marked so that Reeve is able to manipulate and control seemingly simple games of chance.

Easy: I think a little of both. My hope is that once the game gets going, people will find it interesting and want to follow - the OOC is in some senses a "spectator's area" for the game. With this being narrative rather than dice-dependent, deaths aren't as common as in the real Dark Heresy.

Jack: Thanks for the updated character sheet, and the detailed mementos.

I'm just waiting for Marovian to be signed up, and then we'll have Stroud back in the game.

Olis has PM'd me a Imperial psyker character with an interesting backstory, and Skinrider is in the process of creating an Ecclesiarchal Witchfinder - quite an odd pair! With those, we will have a Cell of eight and we can begin playing. I'll be starting the game very soon.

I finally have an account!

Looking forward to bringing Stroud back to life, should be good especially with a few old faces and some new ones as well. I can assure you guys that Mol knows how to run a good show.

At the moment, I need to fire up the wheezy old laptop, read this thread properly and then port across my character Bio from the old days. My plan is to get this done over the next 48-72 hours when real life allows.
