Greetings my Wolves brothers !

I finally take that step into the light of the Aett, after months, (years ?) of lurking down here (and there).

With the ETL coming next week, it was about time happy.png

I will first show you some of my already finished model.

But ! For there is a but, the ETL is for me the opportunity to make a slight change in my painting process.

You know, I'm quite a perfectionist. And it takes me weeks, if not months, to complete a mini (depending of its size of course).

And I'm tired of my cabinet being filled with mostly plsctic grey minis.

So, from now on I will paint my minis in two major step :

1 - getting the mini bascally done : prime, first airbrush coats, brush coats over the details, washes, minor details, base, etc.

2 - completing the paint with my regular standards (finalising the details lights and shadows, blendings, battle damages, pigments, snow and blood/mud/dust on the base, etc.).

Would it be ok for the ETL standards ? Because if not, well let'ssay that I won't be bringing much point to the Rout…

Now, that being settled, Back to my production.

As you may have gessed, I don't have much finished. It's been nearly two years since I'm back with the wolves full time, and with a painting schedule.

Here's a tiny blurry shoot of everything that's painted. Sorry for the quality.

And I still have a fireraptor and a stormeagle, still on the go.

So That's all for the moment.

I'm preparing fot next week's ETL, with TWC and fenrissian wolves to base and prime.

Hope you'll like it. See you soon.

Edit : Ho, by the way, I'm french, so if you notice some english mistakes or strange formulations, please excuse me and let me know so that I correct it. Thx.

These models are wickedly cool!!

I am going to need to learn weathering and airbrushing from you.

As for ETL, you set the standard for what you consider as a completed model. So if you go with your first choice and class the model as complete, then it is completed.

Lastly, it does not matter how much or how little you do In the ETL, the important thing is that you took part. :tu:

Very nice stuff! I love the graphic look, its an awesome use of the brighter colors with really nice weathering. I try for the same thing and its flippin' hard sometimes. Looking forward to seeing more brother!

Freaking awesome. The only thing I don't like is the Sicaran, but not because of the paintjob, its the fact that it is a Forgeworld model and therefore, this Champion of Fenris army is not pure space wolves.

I love your Rune Priest conversions, especially the black one, Steppenwolf. I now see a use for all the leftover bling from Space Wolves Dreadnought and Stormwolf boxes. The other Rune Priest looks kinda young though, almost like a Blood Claw. I wonder where you got the psychic hood body though.

OK, now you're gonna make me blush. Wich is most embarrassing for a fiery space wolf, you'll admit it biggrin.png .

Joke aside, thank you all for your really kind comments et warm welcome.

I'll be more than happy to share !

I'll try to make a tutorial with photos for the first steps I'll do for the ETL. And later, the final steps with the weathering.

I have the project to make a vid too, but that shall not happen for the next few months. Maybe after the summer.

Anyway, if you like, I can post my recipe for the armor and the weathering.

I shall also take photos of my prepared minis for my first vow of the ETL.

See you soon.

Edit : Ho, I forgot some specific answers, sorry guys.

So :

@Jegind : Basically its blister foam chipping with rhinox hide. I have told about Rhinox hide ? Well then Rhinox Hide ! tongue.png

Lined with blue horror on the blue areas, dorn yellow on the yellox tripes, and administratum on the black parts.

@Kasper_Hawser : The runepriest was intended as young, that's the reason of the "fire" I included in his air, the runes and his name.

I havec another runepriest on bike, Whom Aesgir is the "pup"

As for the psychic hood, I sculpted it from GS. I use a small cooking ball for the pre baking of the pie (I don't know if there is a specific english word for it). It has the perfect size. Put it in place and added a few wire. That's it.

Hello my fellow wolves !

So, ETL is on, and I 've started the work on my minis.

Nothing spectacular. Just the aibrush preshading step. And I won't have the possibility to go on with the airbrush till tomorrow or friday evening.

So there will be more work done by the week end.

Early progress pics :

Hi brothers.

While not posting, I'v benn busy the all week. I figured I could have the airbrush done by the end of the week end.

How foolish. Had the elder daughter keeping asking after me, end the 10 month one not interested in taking her usual naps… (haaa teeth issues, so lovely!).

Anyway, managed to get some time for me when every one was to bed at night, between 10 pm (after the wife got asleep afeter he 12 hours shift at the hospital) and 2 am.

Soooo. I've only been able to finish the airbrush on the marines (wolfguards, ironpriest and runepriest) and the stormfang. I wish I could have finished the airbrush steps on the thunder and fenrissian wolves, meh…sad.png

And I have to rework the Stormfang, as the brown filter was not thinned enough and was then not transparent enough. All that to say I'm not happy with the transitions between brown and blue grey/grey.

Here's a little picture of the marines with the airbrush done.

Hope to update this post quick with further advancement on the painting.

Fenrys Hjolda Brothers !

So, I did manage to get some time to work monday and yesterday evenings, while my wife was getting asleeped on the coach in front of whatever was on TV. biggrin.png

So, I could finish the airbrush on the fenrissian wolves.

FenrissianWolves airbrush ALL

FenrissianWolf airbrush 2

FenrissianWolf airbrush 1

Next steps are to do the airbrush on the thunderwolves and the bases.

Then I will go back to regular brushes. I hope I can do that by next monday. But it surely is a bit optimistic.

This ones should be quite easily finished. A fex washes, a few dry brushes and some details and that's it.

See you soon.

Thanks Dantay ! smile.png

Can't wait to get the airbrush part done to see my vow move forward.

The thunderwolves will be quite long though.

I don't want them all to have the same fur. As I have 12 + those of the Wolf Lord and the WGBL, I was thinking :

- 4 different fur schemes, on a 3 miniature frame box. Mixed within the two units that should do the trick.

+ 2 specific schemes for the 2 characters.

That should be a god compromise between enough variety and speed for not having 14 specific schemes to work on.

What do you think brothers ?

Ok, so my wife fell asleep on the coach yesterday evening.

Yes, you know what that mean. biggrin.png Airbrush time !

Well, I dealt with the 6 first thunderwolves. As I mentioned above, I will use 4 different tones, with variations in order to have wolves that do not look too much like each other.

Yesterday I starded with the neutral grey and the blue grey which are close.

TWC airbrush 1

TWC airbrush 2

TWC airbrush 3

TWC airbrush 4

TWC airbrush 5

TWC airbrush 6

The result is still quite "flat" but it's quite normal with the airbrush on such a texture. A few washes and (not too) drybrushes will make the fur sculpt pop.

Tell me, what do you think of them so far ? To me, some wolves are still too similar. I'll try to mark the difference with regular brush and the washes (might add on some a brownish wash).

So next to the 8 left. I shall run them as 2*3 brownish tones, plus a black-black one on the wolflord's wolf and a red-brown on the WGBL's one.

Really loving the skills your using with the airbrush. I have an airbrush and it's just about basecoating. My skills stop there really.

A good mix of different colours can look good however you'd generally have a dominant colouring in a wolf pack so don't worry about several being of similar colours.

Keep up the good work. :tu:

Hi guys !

Thanks for our answers.

Quite a big update today. I've been able to have airbrush sessions threoughout the weekend.

And the Airbush is over on the first vow batch ! Tonight I'll be back to regular brushes. Hope I will keep up with the schedule.

So :

Second batch of thunderwolves. They're more brown than the first batch, while not as red as the fenrissian wolves.

TWC brown airbrush 1

TWC brown airbrush 2

TWC brown airbrush 3

TWC brown airbrush 4

TWC brown airbrush 5

TWC brown airbrush 6

Ive also done the wolves of the Wolflord and the WGBL :

WGBL TW airbrush

umbra ferox

And all the bases :

bases airbrush

I also had to prime and paint CC weapons for the marines that I will have to use in a game this summer.
Only primed picture there, but it doesn't count for th ETL.

optional weapon primer

While painting the CC weapon, I smoothed the blue/brown transitions on the Stormfang, but forgot to take a picture.
Try to think of it tonight.
And tonight , back to brushes !
