Good to know. I performed a search on the rules and there was no specific mention, but I guess they are covered under the source books caveat?

Vow 2 complete!

Still working out vow 3, might take a day or two.

Congrats on vow two being completed! What did you have in mind for a third vow? Anything we can help with?

I have compleated my second vow. a Chaplain with Plasma Pistol and Jump Pack for 120 points.

I think my next vow will be a Predator with Lascannon.

That awkward moment when you've had a typo for the whole time and didn't notice. :/

Here is vow number 3:

I, Sir Ovbov, first of his name (and most likely last) rise to the challenge of E TENEBRAE LUX and vow to complete one Predator with Lascannons all round, a stormbolter and hunterkiller missile, A 5 man tactical squad with heavy flamer and Sergent with a combi-melta and powersword and a captain with plasma pistol and powersword from Codex: Blood Angels of total value 380 points on or before August 15th, 2016. Success will bring eternal glory to ETL Faction Blood Angels and failure will doom me to bear the Badge of the Oathbreaker until my vow is complete.

Two months left and on vow three? Excellent progress so far thumbsup.gif That Chaplain has turned out ace too and I like how you've kept the red Crozius handle ;)

Already started poking my second vow, though I'll be doing less unfortunately as work has gotten very busy. Still, better than no vows at all! msn-wink.gif

Excellent work there. Especially like that you've mixed the new and old DC parts so seamlessly. Looking forward to the next installment and yes, even a small vow is better than nothing at all :)

I, LutherMax, rise to the challenge of E TENEBRAE LUX and vow to complete Gerantius from the White Dwarf Dataslate for Faction Blood Angels to the total value of 500 points, on or before August 15th, 2016. Success will bring eternal glory to the Blood Angels and failure will doom me to bear the Badge of the Oathbreaker until the year-end.

Not much to add other than that has to be a on the shortlist for Badge of the Artisan. As for Gerantius, we wait with baited breath (no pressure, honest!)

Congratulations on completing your first ever ETL vow! Do you feel like vowing again? Can make another four subsequent vows all to be completed by the 15th August 2016.

I can vow stuff still on a sprue technically? Man I could have started my vow days ago then... Will get picks up after work so I can paint again!

So, strategic discussion. I've done all my airbrushing, should I paint individual units to completion or bathh paint everything in steps. I.e, block out all the colours on everything, wash everything, first highlight everything etc.

 

Thoughts?

If you can keep the motivation go for batch painting. Thats faster but i find that i get boored really quick. Allthough when you finish up you got an horde of models ready.

3 Stormravens

4 Rhino Chasis (preds, command vehicles, razor back)

1 LR Chassis

3 Dreads (2 'temptor. 1 Libby)

20 termies

 

I see how the batch painting goes I think...

You could always batch paint it as you've listed, but break the TDA into four lots of five.

I find batch helps a lot, as you get one big completion as opposed to:

 

HELL YEAH MY DREAD IS FINISHED!

 

...Now to do the other 5.

 

I beg to differ, at least you get to think "ok, I'm 20% finished" as opposed to going from 0% finished to 100% finished in one go!

 

Also, if you run out of time, fewer models to rush!

Batch painting is useful but can be hard going. You'll spend what seems like forever getting no-where then all of a sudden your models will look almost complete. If you have a large amount of models then I suggest seperating the batch painting down into multiple batches :P

 

My DC Vow for example had 21 foot Death Company so I split them into 3 batches of 7 models. I find it more efficient to do one colour for several models in one go but of course this is a personal preference.

 

That said when I am painting a single model, watching it progress quickly is very satisfying (but I only do it for one off models) so I can see the appeal!

I'm trying to avoid Fire Dragon Bright, except on some of the blood drops.
