@Vampyr I really like the weather effects did you drybrush something on it or... I also like the small details like the skull on the hood or bonnet what ever you prefer. I like the camo aswell.

@ CofeeGrunt I like the sand theme that runs along in all your Guard force. A very clean smooth finish. One can imagen that the Ghostdog have been in a severe sandstorm(s) due to the paintjob that have been chipped away, nicely done. I also like the command squad, great job.

@ Our_Baz It is coming along very nicely, looking good so far.

@WarriorFish Wow it is a massive custum project that you have undertaken, with LEDs and more, it looks great. When I am finished with my Ratlings and got the time to follow the ETL more closely unlike now when it is breif moment every now and then, I will absolutely follow your WIP page. Would you mind posting the link again so I can bookmark it?

@ UltraRich That is a very crisp yellow. A IF player said to me that yellow is very hard paint to pull off weather wise, without it looking dirty. So I wish you the best, but I know you will have no trouble getting a great result. So I eagerly waiting for your next update.

Great stuff! What a brilliant way to round off the week well done comrades! Lovely red on those Kasrkin, if they look good in poor pictures I can only imagine how much better the look in person msn-wink.gif I'm also keen to see Rich's Knight with such vibrant colours even if it'll probably be finished before mine at this rate laugh.png

I like the small vow too, now that's dedication Sviar tongue.png I really like the older Ratlings, makes me wish I had a few more of them... you can follow my Knight WIP here, it has everything I've done which is more than I've linked to here smile.png

Well, with these completions you jumped to 30% completion rate - virtually at the ETL average... This is fantastic progress and the results are of the highest quality!

Keep it up, the Guard is the beacon of the IFOR faction around which all other forums gather! Excellent performance gentlemen, excellent! :)

UPDATED TO THIS POINT!

Thank you!

The effect you see is from multiple oil washes after the initial layers of paint had been laid down. Do a quick Youtube search and you will find many tutorials. It is really quite easy and almost mandatory after you get the hang of it, especially for all the AM tanks.

Oil washes are the way forward, especially if you get a little Burnt Umber and Black, and mix some gloss in there. Perfect oil paint for painting...well, oil. tongue.png

Still to finish assembly, then it'll be on to painting. I put Camo Netting on after painting, so that'll come last. smile.png

Got a bit of painting done last night. Hoping to power through these as I find vehicles far easier to paint than Infantry:

Liking the old Ratlings Sviar - some of the older models are still better than the new ones msn-wink.gif

I agree with you. I think that the new Ratlings don't look good at all, in any way. Luckely I purchased some Ratling before GW released the new ones.

Thank you!

@ Vampyr and Coffee Thanks for the replies. I searched the webb and I saw some fantastick results, some great time consuming resultsmsn-wink.gif. But if you put in some time it will look better. I remember the time(sounding old, I know, but I amtongue.png) when washes was not on the market and you would have to thin some black paint with water to get a shading effect.

Thank yousmile.png

@ Coffee Great progress.

Small update, no photos unfortunately. 1st vet squad 99% done, just need basing (is that required?).

I'm in the same boat as you (powered by the Emperors wrathlaugh.png), but you are probably done by now.

My Ratlings are complete, but I feel that I can afford the time to base them, so that will be done on monday next week. Because within an hour I am taking a trip up north and back in time, switching the paintbrush for a musket. For the annual 1700 weekendsmile.png

That's the second week with no mention, do we need to pull out more stops? I got some additional work done on my vow yesterday and plan to get more done today - I expect to have the model's main bits finished leaving just final details and the base :D

Come on Guard yes.gif

Although I have vowed for the 1st Legion this time around I am keeping a close watch on Guard progress (and building the painting queue for later Guard projects) ;)

With today I can finally feel like I'm nearly there! While quite a bit was done - full details in my AdMech WIP as always - the main thing was the near completion of the arms:

gallery_30308_12009_21074.jpg

Along with the two outstanding masks being finished I'm definitely on the final stretch :tu: The final details and base won't take long individually which means I should be able to plink away at my vow over some evenings too :) Keep pressing onwards comrades - not long left and we can rest on our laurels*!

* the commissariat will graciously allow an additional 5 minute break for all successful completions

Basecoats completed, oil washes started. Then it's just a drybrush, some weathering and the camo netting:

Finished oil painting, didn't take pics. Just paint chipping, weathering powders, detail and camo netting to go. Aiming to complete it by the weekend and leave myself two weeks to finish my final vow. :)
