+++E Tenebrae Lux V - Horus Heresy Strategium+++

Okay, I now find myself in a position where I'm able to set my second vow:

1x Cataphractii Siege Breaker w/Combi-Melta and Chainfist

1x Delegatus w/Artificer Armour, Thunder Hammer and Boarding Shield

5x Tactical Support Squad w/Plasma Guns

To the tune of 432 points.

I see choom brother. They may be proxying for plasma, but I definitely see choom. ^_^

Well ... I've been living in ignorance for about 18 months XD

I bought these guys alongside a number of regular Marines quite some time ago and, being naive and uninformed, was led to believe that they had plasma guns. I guess I never actually bothered to check and didn't know enough about volkite to recognise my mistake. My thanks for enlightening me; I'll adjust my vow.

Wow! We're totally in the lead, guys! No need to hurry, we have all reason to glout in our own glory and just take our time to finish our vows. The rest of the teams have a super low completion and revow rate, so we can totally take our sweet time with things. So enjoy the nice weather and take a break from painting! We'll win anyway! Life has so much else to offer besides building models and painting: Working out, drinking beers, whiskey, whisky, wine, and eating. Dudes. Eating, omnomnom. Burgers and steaks... Think of all those evenings spent enjoying life! Painting minitures is for the weak. Don't bother, we have such an enormous head-start in the ETL, we can totally take our time!!! :tu: :tu:

While waiting for more paint in the mail, I figured I'd start on this little guy! :)

Oh, and, like a homeless doomsday prophet with a cardboard sign, I'm telling everyone that will listen and even those who don't that Forge World Air paints are the best thing ever. Even better than sliced bread.

Those skeletal wings are lovely!

You did a great job of breaking up the monotony FW left you to work with biggrin.png

Thanks, Flint! It's a conundrum with the Gal Vorbak models... they're absolutely gorgeous, but they're so mono posed that it makes the possibility of running a "Last of the Serrated Suns" list or even just running multiple units without redundancy. I would hope that FW would eventually release variants, but I don't see it happening anytime soon sad.png

Dear gods man! Those are spectacular!

Thanks! Hopefully I'll have them done in a day or two, then it's on to the next unit!

Ready to drop the hammer and dispense with some indiscriminate justice fire support.

With this Fellglaive done, my lil vow is 1/4 complete.

That's a beautiful Fellblade.

The best part is that Tank Commander w/ chainaxe. Something about it really nails home the "Drive me closer..." concept, but in true WE style. biggrin.png

But in all seriousness, that's a great blue you've achieved, and if I may ask, how did you get that heat effect on the engines? It looks really good.

@ MindofMetal: Excellent follow-up!  Good luck mate!

@ Scrub Eraser: Awesome looking stuff there - lovely 3rd Legion! congratulations :tu:

@ Brightstar: and another follow-up vow! To choom or not to choom?  :P

@ Flint: Impressive work - the WE colour look amazing at this scale! And the blue... *mesmerised*

@ Kurama:  Very impressive array of hardware there! I think it's a great opportunity to attempt the burnt metal effect on the super-choom nozzle... But even without it, it looks mighty impressive!

UPDATED TO THIS POINT!

I'll have to order some washes for a burnt muzzle effect but what the hell it's etl might as well go all out!

I'm progressing on the Storm Eagle, the metallics just seem far to much of a contrast to the rest of the hull, then I'll follow up once my next paint order arrives on the sicarian and the 3 Spartan hulls

You can see on the closest fuselage/engine block after I've given it a heavy wash it's sort of really dark, I know I could Dry brush it back up but I want it to keep with the rest of the tanks with the dark metallic look, im thinking maybe I need to throw some vallejo copper in on some panels just to bring the light back into it.... If that makes sense

@Kurama. Dark would work, this is how I did mine.

A little purple red and brown on the engine for heat stess, I used the bunt muzzle technique for the engine exhausts and did the flappy bits black, edge highlighted with grey

The front was Balthazar gold, heavy washed with flesh shade and highlighted to pure Gehennas gold before washing wit sepia to dull it slightly and make it look a bit brassy.

I guess I should join the fold especially after failing so spectacularly last time.

I Vazzy, Once Ultramarine and now follower of the Glory of Lorgar, exalted be his name, vow to paint:

Zardu Layak: 175 Pts

9x Gal Vorbak :350 pts

Artíficer Armor

Tainted blade

Power Weapon.

Should I fail, I shall sacrifice my soul to the ruinstorm.

Cap, I'm curently in Europe until the 28th of June, is it cool if I upload pictures then?

Admittedly slow progress recently, but with exams finishing up speed should ramp up.

Wow hi res is unflattering.  On his first outing the cloak broke off, in fixing it I got a drop of super glue which I thought I'd cleaned up.  Guess I've got some touch up to do.  BATTLE DAMAGE!

Of course he has a chainaxe. What if he has to repel boarders?

The heat stain on the engines is super super simple (bc i'm super super lazy :D )

It's a ring of gulliman blue on the very tips of the exhaust, a ring of druchii purple just barely overlapping the bottom of the blue ring and then a light ring of Seraphim sepia under the purple. I've only used it on smaller leman russ sized exhausts before, so I was surprised it came out essentially the same even at this larger scale.

@ Flint: Impressive work - the WE colour look amazing at this scale! And the blue... *mesmerised*

Thanks Cap! I'm glad people like it. It's pretty amaze what you can do with basic airbrush skills in the toolbox (as in I actually take the 30 minutes to figure out how to use it for stuff other than basecoats :D )

I was a little worried that the chipping would fudge up the blue, but it looks like it came out ok.
