I'll admit I'm planning on redoing the grey on all of my Word Bearers, but for now I'm calling these done for vow completion sake. I decided to experiment with a heat stain effect on the Plasma Guns. It came out alright. Now that these are done, I'm... still screaming internally due to having 40 more Marines to paint... damn my over zealous vow! I guess I'm just keeping in character of the Legion with that trait. With this guys, I tried out a new grey recipe, it's metallic (although it's not as easy to see in the pics) and grungy, as it should be. So with these guys done, I have 3 more Support Squads to complete, and I need your help deciding which should be next: Volkite Caliver, Melta Gun, or Heavy Bolter. I'll see what everyone says by tomorrow afternoon and go from there. I skipped updating last week due to life getting in the way and not feeling as though I had enough completed to warrant one. The good news is, I've completed the Volkite Caliver Support Squad and also 3 of the 10 Melta Gunners, which means I'm 7 Melta Gunners away from completing my ETL vow! There's a few things here and there I'd like to touch up on these guys or add some shading to, but for the sake of completing my vow, they're done. I'll have plenty of time to nitpick after I've succeeded. At the risk of losing it all, I will not be making another vow. I don't like posting WIP photos too much, but I've made some decent progress and I'd like some opinions. First up is the Contemptor, who is almost done... honestly, I thought I'd be concentrating almost totally on the Librarian, but come to find out I found myself enthralled with the Contemptor. There's so much detail in the trim that I couldn't stop. I'm not too sure how I'd blend from green to red, though. I believe I said at the beginning of this thread that I had planned on doing their robes in red. Well, here it is... at least, the start of it. I'm trying to decide if I should do them in a dark red or bright and popping. Any opinions? Also, I'm thinking of doing their skull "masks" in gold, but I'm not 100% on that. Their flesh will obviously be red, and I'll be blending it up with a final highlight of yellow to really make them pop, with a light coat of BftBG when all's said and done. I felt that green flames would give the feel of something both arcane and contrast the deep red of the armour, and it's a theme I've been carrying throughout the army.
