Hail Brethren,

So I figured I should probably set up a thread to show my ETL progress. Things have been going slowly but surely until today..... today I seemingly decided was a good day to try removing the whole thumbprint off my left hand lol. I was sure it wouldn't affect my painting as it's only my left hand but I can't even see the models behind the dressing so I'm out of action for a few days at least :(

So here's a few pics (apologies for the quality) of what I've been working on so far....

First up is the Long Fangs ..... these guys are almost done just need a few final touches, company markings and bases to complete (and barrels drilling too but broke mine awhile ago and not picked another one up yet)

Next up is a few shots of Cypher..... not entirely sure I like him anymore and feel like he is missing something, but not sure what to do with him short of stripping and starting all over again (if I do that it will be after the ETL though).

Quick note about his backpack.... I originally thought to have a worn gilded look to it with the gold worn away to show bone beneath, however, it looked too flashy so settled with how it is now.

Regarding Cypher, I think it's his plain jain legs that detracts from his overall appearance. Otherwise he looks quite good.

I see you are using Anvil Industries bits, how are you liking them? Are they easy to work with? I've been considering using some stuff from them for conversions, I just like to hear from other people first before I purchase from a third party.

Thanks Runefyre. I think you may be right..... I'll try drawing up a few designs for one of his legs whilst I'm waiting to paint again and see what happens :)

 

As far as Anvil Industry goes, I too was wary about ordering 3rd party bits but i'm glad I took the plunge with these. I went for the strike force so the arms, torso and legs come as one part on most of the models (they do it all as separate pieces too) but the parts are amazing.... little to no flash, a load of extra customisation bits and the resin is durable enough to take a tumble (as demonstrated by my youngest son). The order was sent nice and quickly too so all in all I highly recommend them - I already have a list of other bits I plan on purchasing at some point in the near future.

 

Oh there is a slight snag though..... I also bought two of their heavy fusion cannons (which come in one piece with power pack attached), and it may well be my own incompetence, but they don't quite fit GW torsos properly. It's only minimal though and a slight shaving on either side of the torso seems to put it right easily enough.

Apologies for the delay in updates but been busy as hell recently. Still it's not all bad.... in dribs and drabs I've finally managed to finish my first vow.

So without further ado here's some pics of the finished articles - apologies for the picture quality but had to use my phone camera and it's absolutely horrible lol.

Yep it was a snap fit freebie from the local store - first time I've used any of the AoS models and until then I hadn't realised how much larger the AoS models were. I like it though, helps him stand out on the battlefield, and I'm tempted to pick some more up just to have some fun with.

Phew...... So after going away on a mission of mercy and leaving my vow behind, a temporary job that had me out of the house for 16 hrs a day, 6 days a week and the kids being on summer holidays I almost thought I was going to fail my second vow :(

Thankfully I'm pleased to say that is not the case and i managed to finish it off last night :)

(Please excuse the shoddy picture quality they were quickly taken with my phone just to prove I'd finished lol)
