Hmmm I'm thinking go for a Freeblade to start with;

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/images-317_zpsj7tp4jjh.jpeg

something like this but using a matte black sort of like carbon fiber and a candy red that way it ties in with the red and black marines but will pop against the blue.

Perhaps calling him the blood of "insert whatever" and trialing him.

That way if you decide to go for another type of knight household you can still run him as a part of it or run him solo.

GENIUS!!!! Now to go and buy the knight. The way in which I acquired him is a tad bit funny.

When I walked into my FLGS with my brother I fougured I would start Skitarri. I grab a box of vanguard when my brother tells me :cuss that's :cuss get something bigger. I jokingly pick up the imperial knight and he says that he'll buy it for me. Greatest time I've ever had at my FLGS :D.

I then found out I bought the old 2014 box and I gotta go exchange it now...

Thanks Kurama!

DSCF0167

Warhound Titan Calix Asteldas  Princeps Bein Corain
Princeps Corain made a most unusual request when he asked his parent titan legion to allow him to join forces with House Dagarius. When his request was approved he chose to have his titan Calix Asteldas repainted to show his allegance to Seneschal Kavan.

pic was taken when his base was still cracking.

I just made a FW order to get the other 2 arm options for him.

20160617 180124

So since last Sunday i've been busy building transports for most of my knights and Calix Asteldas.

Along with the 2 warhound arms I'm getting the new Imperialis Red Book and an Acheron and Lancer.  only 2 more knights to get a Castigator and w/e they release the Porphyrion.

House Taranis

The first Knightly House to be established, House Taranis was founded on Mars before the formation of the Imperium. This truly ancient house predates any other by many hundreds of years. As the industries of the red planet developed into a vast metropolis of technological mastery, so too did it evolve to become the first and foremost of the forge worlds, and the Knights of House Taranis were its guardians. The STC technology supplied to many of the Expeditionary fleets during Mankind´s expansion across the stars included designs for armoured suits of exo-armour based on those first developed to be used by the Knights of Taranis. When the Knight worlds were first rediscovered during the Imperium’s Great Crusade many thousands of years later, it is likely that the Mechanicum used their intimate knowledge of the Knight suits worn by House Taranis to help win the loyalty of those worlds.

House Taranis remained loyal to the Imperium during the Horus Heresy, taking part in the Battle of Mars on the side of the forces of Kane. All but two of them were killed, fighting the forces of the Dark Mechanicum. Two members of the Knights of Taranis survived and went into hiding, but their later fate is unknown.

House Vornherr

House Vornherr was a Loyalist Imperial Knight House that had strong ties to the Imperium of Man. This Knightly housed hailed from the Feudal World of Luhnborg-IX, located in the Ultima Segmentum, and were known to be an honourable company of warriors with a record of distinction within the Great Crusade and had sworn their services to Roboute Guilliman, Primarch of the Ultramarines Legion. The majority of the Household musteref in the Veridia System for the auspicious Calth Conjunction. With the unveiling of the Word Bearers' betrayal, in what would become known as the Battle of Calth, most of these Knights in attendance were callously and cowardly cut down from orbit by a Word Bearers planetary assault squadrons. Leaving only a handful of survivors after the initial bombardment, the fate of these bold Knight-scions was a testimony to their stoicism and devotion to duty in the face of impossible odds.

House Vornherr was shattered and its survivors irrevocably changed. It was then that a new oath, even more potent than that made to Guilliman, would be sworn. It is not known if House Vornherr discharged their oath unto death or if they survived the calamitous events of the Horus Heresy and were reconstituted.

The Knight-scions of House Vornherr were renowned the length and breadth of the Ultima Segmentum, for they served with great honour and achievement, first in the Great Crusade's cause in the later Compliance campaigns of the 12th Expeditionary Fleet and subsequently in numerous operations across the leading edge of the wars of the Eastern Fringe. In terms of the number of war engines alone, the Knights of Luhnborg-IX were counted as one of the greatest Houses in the region and in bearing the most aristocratic of all their class. Each Knight-scion was a noble of high birth, refined in demeanour and lofty in ideal, educated not just in war, but in culture, philosophy, rhetoric and all of those pursuits that would raise Mankind from the darkness of Old Night and, in time, turn Feral World savages into civilised subjects of Terra.

Upon taking its place alongside the crusading hosts of the 12th Expeditionary Fleet, House Vornherr was allotted a nominal Household grade classification of "Primus Belicosa", a rating that recognised the very high number of Knight armours the House was able to field. While the majority of the House took its place in the Great Crusade, the preparatory stages of integration into theImperium of Man progressed on its home world, leading to its eventual recognition as an autonomous domain in line with many other planets classified as Knight Worlds. Part of that process was a thorough survey of the world's military potential, as well as its ability to produce new Knight armours, and it was during this stage that the Imperium's assayer-adepts discovered something of the wars fought across the Luhnborg System during the Age of Strife, and that the reason for Vornherr's numerical superiority was its defeat of the six other Households.

Further investigations into the matter yielded very little, for the masters of House Vornherr would not allow the assayers to make a full account of their arsenals. All that could be estimated was that the five hundred or so Knight armours fighting with the 12th Expeditionary Fleet represented the upper level of available Knight-scions, but many more armours were stasis-sealed within the House's inner armoury vaults. Only as the bloodline issued heirs entitled to don these armours, and then trained them in the arts of war, would these reserves be drawn upon. This fact made it entirely unnecessary for the masters of House Vornherr to enter into compact with any of the many Mechanicum Forge Worlds whose envoys sought access to their vaults, and while it was never determined how many Knight armours laid within those hallowed chambers, it must have been a large quantity indeed for the House to feel secure in rebuffing the Mechanicum's advances.

It was only in the field of conveyance across the stars from one war zone to the next that Vornherr was deficient. In practice this mattered little, for the vast armada of ships of all imaginable type that was the 12th Expeditionary Fleet was well able to accommodate their arm ours, and after years of service, many of these vessels were permanently assigned to the service of House Vornherr.

In composition, the House was able to commit a wide range of armour types to the field of battle and displayed a singular organisation in this regard. Unlike many other Knight Houses, the Vornherr deployed their Knights into broadly homogenous wings. The largest number were the Knights of the Line, generally equipped with Questoris class armours, predominantly Errant and Paladin types. Other Knights were fielded as a vanguard phalanx, invariably equipped with Questoris Knights-Lancer and similar types of armours. The duke himself favoured an ancient suit of Cerastus Knight-Acheron type armour called Surcease of Sorrow and he was ever attended on the field by a veteran Life Guard formation equipped with Cerastus Knight-Castigator suits.

On the eve of the Calth Conjunction, as House Vornherr mustered for review by its Grand Master Duke Bhaevenwulf, it was numbered at almost six hundred Knight armours and thus rated as the largest Knight House known to be operating along the entire Eastern Fringe. Less than a day later, the Word Bearers would erase that honour, along with the entire southern island city chain where they were mustered.

House Vornherr's colours are bloody scarlet, sun-fire yellow and black.

The House Arms of House Vornherr is a skull-headed raptor.

Questoris Knight Paladin- Chassis Overview

Amongst the most widely used mark of Knight Armour, the Paladin is renowned for its rugged dependability and the versatility of its Weapons array. There are few challenges on the Battlefield that cannot be met and overcome by the combination of brute force, agility and stubborn resilience represented by the Paladin Armour. A Scion mounted in a Knight Paladin Armour can lay down a withering hail of blast and shrapnel, yet despite the utility and firepower of the battle cannon, many scions still favourite the use of the Reaper chainsword, considering it more honourable to stand face-to-face with their enemy.

These armours are little different from the ancient war machines carried to the stars by the first long March colonists. Only the hand-forged and intricately embossed Armour plating separates them from those early exo-armours, and many of these machines have fought in the defence of mankind for long centuries, bearing the honour markings from wars long since forgotten on their plating.

So the Questoris Knight Paladin is a very decent troop choice when put in perspective, at 375 points stock you get the option of 2 Battlecannon profiles;
•The Questoris Battlecannon- a 72" Strength 6 AP 3 weapon that fires 3 ordnance level 5" templates at the enemy, perfect for nuking power Armoured marines in a highly Marine dominated meta.
•The Rapid-Fire Battlecannon- a 72" Strength 8 AP 3 weapon that sacrifices a 5" template but can glance AV 14 on a 6, perfect for Tank hunting and can even help in wrecking higher profile units.

Now looking at the start line your pretty much guaranteed to hit most things on a 3+ if you don't change him to a Scion Aspirant (admittedly -35 points can help if your finding yourself points heavy but ultimately you need to weigh up the pros and cons of a -1 WS/BS and 5+ Inv save). Now if your versing xenos or lightly Armoured enemies don't pass on the bio corrosive rounds for the heavy stubbers; 10 points each is a pretty decent Upgrade for 4+ poison especially with the likes of high toughness units such as primarchs running around the battlefields.

Now as tempting as it is to charge head first sweeping your Reaper chainsword just remember we can stomp the enemy to death which sometimes is the best option.

So utiliser your paladins, realise they can work in any rank but if your running them consider them alongside the Errant to fill your troop choices and hold those objectives.

Please note: I do not yet have the latest Crusade Imperialis list but I will edit in the cost of equipping carapace mounted Weapons, you can now equip all Questoris Knights (minus the Cerastus chassis variants) with the Iron Spear, Storm Spear & Twin Icarius Autocannons)

Bud this thread is for anything knight related were here to offer help in any way shape or form, it's not just for showcasing that's just to be a member anyone can ask questions comment etc so feel free

Okay i'll shoot!

If I were to get a Styrix, how do people find it's weapon? What rank would you give it?

Even though it has Deflag and will mulch anything short of terminators, having only a 5 shot gun and a grav gun at any sort of range doesn't feel like the most firepower. They can't take the carapace weapons that the 40k Knights can take either can they?

The Flare shield and Simulacra is nice for surviving but it seems like the damage output could potentially be pretty low?

ALSO assuming I were to take it as an Oathsword detachment, what Knight (and rank) would you pair it with?

FINALLY - I am a little muddy on the full rules, but the Mechanicum are the only faction that can simply take a single Knight as a LoW in 30k right?

I like the Styrix. Hard to kill thanks to his flare ion shield and Autosimulacra. I run him as an Arbalester with a Preceptor close by his side. With 45" heavy5 he´s a fairly good choise to take down a flier or two. light and medium armoured vehicles are also no problem thanks to tank hunter. And he´s my favorite choise as an inducted Knight for my Taghmata.

Much appreciated!

My question is related to becoming a Knight pilot.

Most of the Knight houses so far seem to be pretty much feudal or clanlike in blood relation (which is very "knightly" and encourages the "household" theme). But there is no major genetic requirement here - am I seeing this right? No "Knight gene" like the Navigator houses? There are certain biological and psychoöogical requirements (like selection of Astartes candidates) but the process in itself would on a matching candidate?

My current fluff idea is for a more monasteric set up in a mechanicum cult aligned force with the Knights piloted by sort of like shao lin warrior-monks. So potential candidates could be offered up the temples or aspire to join them.

Any major concerns with this Set up fluffwise from you, my sisters and brothers of the Machine?

Each Knight World has it´s own cultur. Some, like Makabius, are a bitter brute fighting against eachother for the right to field a knight armour, while House Taranis never followed the feudal way but organized themself more like a Titan Legion. House Vyronii is a noble house, that follows the feudal way, while Aerthegn act more like space pirates. If you wann have a more monk-like house just do it. But maybe you should keep in mind that religion is, by the Emperor´s decree, not in high favor.

The Lance of Dawn

Cerastus Knight-Lancer

++++++++

The ground lay barren, the windswept plains, once full of grass, turned to an ashy wasteland.

Rhoryk slammed the lance into the foe-enemy’s shoulder, blowing a massive wound into the venerable armor of the Leviathan and knocking it on its back.

An angry sky shook, wrathful at the desecration below, lashing out with all its might.

His brothers fought beside him, their weapons covering him as he shattered the enemy line, Battle-Cannons and Gatling-Weapons chewing through the infantry below, Flame-Projecters and Missile Racks bracketing the earth with a barrage of shrapnel.

He stood in the deluge, his tears mixing in with the angry rain, orphaned by the madness that had consumed his kin.

The carcass of the dreadnought was crushed underfoot by Rhoryk’s advance, its screaming occupant silenced forever by the tread of his heel, all the work that had been done on the machine rendered into scrap by his armor.

“Now,” spoke the giant behind him, “You see why you belong with us. Belong with my legionnaires, fighting against those who cast you aside- who betrayed your honor and trust.”

Swathes of Iron Warriors followed his advance, their merciless advance sweeping aside the already broken Word Bearers. But Rhoryk paid them no mind.

He nodded dumbly, accepting of his fate, but still too in shock- too angry- to fully understand what it meant.

Rhoryk’s heart and soul was set on the bastard before him, the Shadow-and-Bone hue of his armor an affront to his very existence.

“I will serve, Lord Khyze. I, and my brothers, will serve you- and will fight to the ends to avenge this unforgivable slight."

His momentum carried him into his target, shield deflecting his foe’s chain-blade, lance crashing through the Knight’s head and chest armor, skewering the foe-pilot on the end of his weapon.

The oath of loyalty spilled from his lips, and Rhoryk didn’t care. This- what he saw before him- was inexcusable. There was no coming back from this.

With a feral snarl, he pulled the foe-pilot violently from his throne, and repeatedly ran the weapon into the concrete below, only stopping when he realized there was nothing left on the end of his weapon, no corpse to vent his anger upon.

"Then I welcome you, Seneschal Ataman, of the House Makabius, to the Wayward Sons.”

Brother Ninjaman, what color did you use for the blue-ish grey?

@Dark Bjeorn- I used Vallejo's sombre grey for the base color, and then after washing the armor with nuln oil, I stippled with a mix of Ceramite White and Sombre Grey.

Beautiful household as well- that WIP Atrapos is one of the best I've seen. You've done a great job on the weapon effects (and everything else). thumbsup.gif

Thanks, Brother! I ask cause the fallen Knight on the Atrapos base shall be a Makabius Knight! but i fear i will have to go another way to paint him cause i used that grey already for the rumble on the base. Maybe Altdorf Guard Blue will do it.

As long as it's a fallen traitor knight, I'm all for it. biggrin.png

I would maybe bring the altdorf blue down- with fenris grey or something like that- to get a good blue-grey effect. The altdorf blue looks like it may be too bright on its own.

Hey knightly peoples. I am currently building a pair of knights, and I have a question regarding loadouts. Is it possible for a knight during the HH to wield 2 Avenger Gatling Cannons? Or is it restricted to the same loadout types as in 40k?

Same as in 40k. No double Gattling. Sorry.

Well in the renegade box set it is allowed for the renegade knight.... So I'd say eventually yes but really it's up to you as the owner. I originally built Viridian with that concept prior to renegade and was house ruling it.

Now we first had no carapace Weapons but now we do for 30k I think it's going to happen if it has already in the renegade box

Figured that I would show how easy it is to convert plastic Knight parts to make both a Lancer and an Acheron. I had these on a couple knights until recently. Not sure what ill do with them now that I have ordered both from Forgeworld.

20160620 145627

Acheron Parts. The chainfist was made with dual chainblades. Cut the chain part off 2 of the arm's and glued both back onto a single arm. H Bolters were some extra bits.  Minimal Greenstuff to fill the gap.

20160620 145653

20160620 145622

As you can see I made it so the Lance can move.  Made the Lance out of a solid piece of plasticard.  The shield was made using some plasticard channel filled in with some greenstuff.
