Everything in this thread is beautifulllll. Especially love all the fluff that goes along with each post. Keep up the awesome work all around!

(The ZM board is also quite good looking... Glad you took pictures of your DA kickin butt and taking names on it!)

@Charlo: Thank you! ^_^

@BlueBelly: Yes, the Zone Mortalis board is rad... a real pleasure to play with. The amount of detail really takes the game to the next level!

Also, Facebook reminded me that a whole year already passed since I started working on my Angels.

Happy birthday to Arael :P

But God, how slow I have become.

Not even 2000 points ready...

Just paint a Praevian Consul with two Castellax equipped with Darkfire Cannons.

That'll bring you to 2000 points. ;)

...And here it is alongside my other Land Raider, "Silent Retribution".
I think the first one looks older, but overall the style is pretty consistent, and I'm happy about it.

What do you good people think?

Looking great brother. If anything I would say your newer raider looks older/more weathered, but maybe that's just the lighting. They look very consistent alongside one another though

Glad to hear that, brother!

Thank you very much :D

Well, they are First Legion.

Off course they are stylish! :P

Thank you for your comment, Gorgoff. Good for motivation! In fact, I have almost finished another five heavy support dudes.

Then I'll finally get to 2k!

...With no Praevian, sadly XD

Well, thanks a lot.

I'm glad you like them! :D

...and as I was saying, a WIP.

Just the heavy bolters missing.

This guy has a face only his Primarch could love.

Knowing the Lion, maybe not even him...

"Noice haircut, DORK!"

;)

But great black. Really like it.

"What do you know of the sorrow of Angels?

You will speak of ambiguity, opportunity, treachery.

But you were not there.

I have witnessed every bullet, every life spent so that a single, more second could be bought on the rush to the Throneworld.

Too late, alas!
Too late to serve our father, too late to save our Emperor.

But it is said that when an Angel's tear drops, the worlds of mortals drown.

And when the time came, no one could stay from our wrath..."

"Hey Techmarine Bob, who did you put in that super-dreadnought?"

"Iunno."

Lol:biggrin.:

Then again, Leviathan engines are known to squeeze the juice from the marine inside them rather quickly.

Perhaps it is better not to know that the dude suffering madness and agony inside that useful box of death is your beloved brother Billy, the one you were inducted with :P

I tought it would be like a sad, short lived version of the Lord Cypher, who loses his own identity as he assumes the title.

Excellent work brother!  Really tempted to build a heavy bolter squad for my army now (and to treat myself to a Leviathan! :biggrin.: ) I also really like the idea of the nameless marine entombed in the dreadnought, and the comparatively stark, utilitarian paint scheme is both really appropriate and quite striking.

Thank you!

The heavy bolter squads of the First are probably the best weapon in our arsenale at the moment.

Everyone fears our molecular shells, and if they don't, they learn to after a game :P

Glad you like the Leviathan.

It hasn't received great feedbacks in my group - too dark, they say.

This may be true, maybe it needs some more white and red spots, like symbols and checks, for more contrast.

On one hand, though, I wanted this... savage weapon feel; on the other, until I have Angelus in my hands, I don't feel like risking it with decorations that may be contradicted in the book.

One suggestion to counter the “too dark” comments is to adjust the basing method you use. You have black models on dark grey bases - one washes out the other. Test out your next squad on different themes - snow, desert, light grey urban, etc. - to see what looks good.

Either way, loving your work. Keep it up! :)

Solid idea.

This is certainly true - I will try more brown and/or a lighter grey on future bases.

I think the light brown parts in the back of Leviathan's base may be a good starting point, to be given more space and repeated on future models.

I'd rather not rebase the whole army at the moment, so i think that going for mixes and variations of this kind may help me get more contrast between models and bases, without giving the feeling of having two different armies splashed together.

What do you think?

In the meantime, I did a thing.

I believe the red stripes can help avoid the "monochromatic black cube" feel most of my friends told me about, giving the model some needed contrast.
