Throne is looking good, what's it made from?

Thanks! Its made from two buttresses of the basilica administratum scenery piece, plasticard for the seat and greenstuff.

I'm currently debating whether or not I should change the BA captain's regular hand to be holding a helmet or leaving it as is. Or if anyone has a different suggestion that would be great too :smile.:

Will you add this to a scenery or is this a playable figure?

I'm more of a collector than player for warhammer. I'll convert a whole bunch of random things before actually doing something I'll end up playing haha. So far in this thread the only things that I'll field someday are the deathwatch squad, raptor lord, the Inquisitor & retinue (currently building), and possibly Khârn.

Nice work Vacarium, the green fu is strong in you.

Thanks BrotherJim! I can't take credit for the lattice work on the throne though as that was from a push mold.

So back on track this week with the deathwatch squad. I've finished a Blood Angels marine and an Invaders marine. The BA marine's pose based off of Dosjetka's 30k Ultramarine champion. I couldn't find a good description of how Invaders were supposed to look so this was my take on how they would look. I still have 3 marines to build: a Raven Guard, a Warmonger, and a Dark Angels captain. On a side note I picked up Burning of Prospero yesterday and am considering doing a small force of Sons of Horus cause I want to try 30k.

That guy on the throne is brilliant. Very nice conversions you have done here Vairocanum :smile.:

Nemac

Thanks Nemac! Figuring out how to build the throne was a bit of a pain but I'm happy it worked out ok.

I was a bit :ohmy.: about the power feet marine - not my thing at all - but then you drew me right back in with the throned captain. What an inspired conversion! Love it, love it. Well done.

Thanks Augustus! I like the comedic side of 40k a lot so stuff like Angry Marines and Doghouse's Cosmic Space Knights of Doom are right up my alley. The BA captain basically started out with sanguinary guard legs and sort of developed from there as I have a (bad) habit of building an entire model just to use a certain part.

This week was pretty productive, I finished a primaris psyker for my INQ28 warband, a Raven Guard DW marine, and a Warmongers DW marine. I don't really have that many non space marine bits so I've had to make a bits order so I can progress with my inquisitor warband. But with a few simple changes I converted a vampire counts wight king into a psyker. Since my warband will all be wearing hoods of some sort I wanted to use the one from the Deathwing set but it was too big so I shaved down the sides and top to make it fit the model better. For the Raven Guard DW marine I tried to make him look like he was just touching down after a jump. For the Warmongers marine, due to lack of fluff I wasn't sure how to model him so I went for a simpler look and posed him reaching for his pistol. Next week I'll finish the Dark Angels Watch Captain and my DW squad will be complete.

Finished the deathwatch captain this week which finally completes the squad. I wanted to give the captain some terminator armor but didn't have any spare terminator parts so I ended up taking a really old objective marker made from a black reach terminator that I didn't use anymore to make this captain. I reposed his legs and mixed in some parts from the Deathwing command set. I wanted him to have a more "knightly" feel so I used a grey knight helmet and the top part of the armor was looking a little bare so I added scrolls and purity seals from the old Ravenwing set. Haven't managed to acquire one of those new deathwatch pads yet so have just tacked on the regular crux as a stand in. I'm working on more inquisitorial stuff and will continue with my INQ28 warband once my bits order comes in. C&C is appreciated

They look great dude! looking forward to seeing them painted :biggrin.:

Nemac

Thanks Nemac! Sure I'll get them painted....once I overcome my desire to buy new models instead of replacement paints. Luckily deathwatch are mainly black and silver only haha.

This week I attempted Doghouse's new true scale method using the BoP Tartaros torsos. I was originally going to do a 30k Death Guard marine instead but I wanted to use the thunder hammer and thought it was more Iron Warriors than DG (plus Doghouse's Iron Warriors looked really good so that also swayed me). Doghouse's method was super easy and had a really nice look when finished. I didn't trust myself to paint on hazard stripes so I greenstuffed them instead. I think I'll also try a true-scale Death Guard and Space Wolf at some point given the simplicity of this true-scale method. C&C is appreciated

Haven't been to your thread for w while, which I now regret.

That truescale guy looks amazing and I actually think this one looks even better the concept one from doghouse! (don't tell him ;) )

But the prize goes to the terminator captain. That dude looks totally bad ass, dude.

The Terminator Captain is fantastic, and so is the true scale Astartes! Consider that last idea stolen ;)

I do think his waist needs a little bulking out, however, as that is the one part of him that looks a little dubious from an anatomical standpoint. I would normally suggest adding some pouches and/or grenades there, to camouflage the thin waist. Apart from that, he's just fantastic -- I particularly love the combination of the high gorget and the rebreather head!

As both before me have said that true scale iron warrior is freaking epic brother. You might have just set the new bar for this conversion I know I'll definitely be giving it a go once I can finally afford a BOP box keep up the awesome work man. Any chance of paint any time soon?

Thanks Augustus! Wow that's really high praise, I'm glad I managed to pull off the conversion. I wanted the terminator captain to look as imposing as possible and two handed weapons usually mean business :laugh.:

Thanks Kraut! Ahh I see what you mean with the waist, I just followed directly from Doghouse's tutorial so I didn't really think about bulking the waist. I'll try to do something about that later with either GS or thin plasticard. I'm quite fond of the high gorget and rebreather head as well, I almost went with one of those 40k Iron Warriors head but changed my mind as I was starting to glue the model together.

Thanks Pyroclast91! Glad you like the conversion! It was really simple to do with a really nice finish. BoP is one of the best box sets released by GW and is worth every penny!

So the recurring comment that I've been getting recently is "When are you going to paint something?" I briefly mentioned in the first post of this thread that my paints had basically all dried up after 4 years leaving me with only a few washes left. I have yet to buy some new paints and for the one model that I painted this year (true-scale CSM) it was completed with borrowed paints. That said, I think my recent bits order will be my last purchase of "new stuff" so hopefully I'll start to replace my paints soon. In the meantime I thought I'd share some of my painted models from 4 years ago.

You should make new pictures of all these miniatures (they're all slightly out of focus) because they deserve great pictures. I love these conversions, man. Stunning work. Talos is, of course, one of my faves - send it to ADB!

Also, your Eidolon looks more like a badass than the original FW miniature. In fact, in think you have a real knack for making minatures look menacing.

Thanks Mikhal! I'll probably have a go at your MKIII true-scale too in the future :happy.:

Yea I should retake some pics, but I'll have to find the models first. I packed away a lot of finished models in a "safer place" but also forgotten where they are. I'm planning on making an Argel Tal soon (power-armored lightning claw form) so maybe I could send a pic of Talos to ADB and confirm some details about Argel Tal at the same time. Also thanks, glad you like Eidolon! I've always really liked making an "army of one" model rather than actual armies, so I just do endless conversions instead of working towards a playable army. I'm definitely going to start a 30k army at some point in time so hopefully I can make the regular marines look just as menacing :biggrin.:

That Terminator Captain is fantastic, he has a great sense of movement, I agree with Augustus's, I remember some of those older models of yours and they definitely deserve some better pics bud.

Thanks Biohazard! I think he turned out pretty good for what started out as a dead body objective marker. I'm happy that someone remembers my models from before! I was never very active so I'm glad some of my old models are still remembered after 4 years.

This week I finished my Dark Angels Fallen. It is based off of the artwork of DiegoGisbertLlorens. I had seen this art before I even started the model. I picked up two khorne lords (one on foot and one on juggernaught) for 20 bucks back in August from a garage sale. I originally wanted to use the khorne lord for an inquisitor conversion cause I had seen a lot of good looking ones previously. But then I saw how similar the knee pads were to the fallen art I started gathering bits and planning out this conversion instead. Finally two and a half months later the full model is complete. Changing the tip of the sword to fit seamlessly with the chaos one was the most annoying part because the tip kept falling off. I find working with metal pretty difficult but I managed to patch up the mistakes I made while dremel-ing. This is definitely one of my favorite models now, so I think the extra work was worth it. Also does anyone know what kind of iconography fallen would have on shoulder pads (only legion symbol or something else)? C&C is appreciated.

Excellent work on that Fallen! He has a fantastic Black Knight feel! As for the iconography, what about using the Dark Angels' classic winged sword, but with a chaos star painted/sculpted around it? The effect could be achieved via a freehand, but also by splicing together existing bitz -- or simply by combining different decals.

Fantastico!!!

Really cool fallen and I am looking forward to your mk3 truscale attempt. I will try your approach too^^ maybe for special chars to make them more imposing^^

Thanks Mikhal! I'm just sourcing some bits before I start on the mk3 truscale. And your Wardens of Light look so bling-y that they could all be special characters  :biggrin.:

Thanks Kraut! I think that's a really great idea for the shoulder pad, I'll have to find a small DA icon that won't cover up the chaos star. I wonder what other kind of iconography would they have on the other shoulder pad, I should look into DA personal heraldry.

Since having bought BoP I've been really wanting to make more 30k stuff. This week I finished this Ultramarines Praetor. I've always quite liked the chapter champion from the Calgar honor guard set but didn't like the legs on that model. I wanted to try and copy the arms from the FW MKIII command and this was the closest I could get to it. Still need to fix up some places with GS but he's basically done for now. Also the scabbard is looking a little bare, if anyone had suggestions for what to put on it that would be great (not the omega symbol though). C&C is appreciated!

Wow, that's fantastic.

Thanks sockwithaticket! I'm glad you like him!

Really cool, the pose is badass!

Thanks Traitor! Glad you like the pose, arms kept shifting all over when putting him together.

I had finished this model last Saturday but forgot to take pictures and post due to frantic cramming for finals. So I have finally started working on my INQ28 warband again after continuously getting side tracked by kitbashing stuff from BoP set. As mentioned before the warband members will all be hooded so the IG engineseer worked well with this techpriest conversion. I originally was going to make servo arms, but changed my mind and made ranged weapons of some sort for the extra limbs. He is tentatively named Artisan Decimus Epsilon (might tweak the name later when I start figuring out fluff for the whole warband). Will update again with another member of the warband on Sunday. C&C is appreciated.
