To be frank I have quite missed you guys, but the son is finally a bit older and now I have my life back (partially). To get started, I have been fantasizing about a 1st company elite force for some time. I have been motivated by the new member of Battlebunnies blog Darien http://battlebunnies.blogspot.de/2016/03/sons-of-horus-first-company-update-9.html. Vect Posted September 18, 2016 Author Share Posted September 18, 2016 Good evening, I have finally finished Maloghurst, who will be my counts as Master of Signal for my 1st company. I had two reasons for taking so long: 1. My equipment was in Slovakia. 2. I was searching for motivation and collecting tutorials on everything. To be honest I almost went crazy :-), but I am satisfied with the final result. Firstly I started with a test model from the BaC boxed set (on a side note I must say that the quality of the model is quite lackluster, as well as of the entire boxed set), I had difficulty doing the edge highlight, and to be honest I was not quite sure of the palette, afterwards I selected a much darker tone of red to suit the menacing look of the 1st company. Also I change a bit on the gold/silver as well as weathering which is quite difficult IMHO on black armor. In general I stuck to the color plate in the HH books, as well as I tried to portray the ideals and image of who they represent on the battlefield. Further below are the pictures of Maloghurst. Thanks! The master of signal looks great! The Loken conversion is also really imaginative. I feel that the length of the maul/axe is a tad long to be a one handed weapon. Cool conversion regardless though, looking forward to seeing more In the beginning it was shorter but optically it looked too stubby, so I added the second handle on the rear part, from my perspective I am considering it a two handed weapon. Nice stuff man Yep, but I also slightly increased his size in order to give the base a proper look. Vect Posted October 1, 2016 Author Share Posted October 1, 2016 I have assembled last night the heavy support squad, I must say the resin MKIV torsos are much smaller than the plastic hands/shoulder pads. I wanted to use my resin bits, as the whole squad is a sort of mix of remaining parts (same as the shooty reavers). Anyways once I have glued on the Lascannon followed by the shoulder pads I noticed the absurd difference and was absolutely furious.
