bluntblade
And so I'm thinking a bit more about his look. First thing is, he has a two blade setup as do most Lightning Bearers, but his longsword is a whopping great odachi twinned with a wakizashi. His appearance is very much aristocratic, accentuated by a samurai-style hairdo (I'm thinking it's a style that has entirely fallen out of fashion by the time Raiden and his contemporaries appear on the scene). His manner is typified by an overt watchfulness which contrasts with the legendary "grace of Madrigal". I want to take him on a different direction to just being another Qruze, so he's sharp as anything but hampered by his psychic scars. The appearance of one of his companions will be based largely on Toshiro Mifune, being quite a bruiser by Lightning Bearers standards. Muniza will have two, having been largely forgotten by his Legion.

Chief Captain Redd
Do the retinues of Hands have to be Astartes? I was thinking Daughters could be cool for Redblade.

simison
Gaius tried not to hurry through the hall of the Imperial Palace as he sought the Warmaster. Imperial aides scattered before him as the raven-haired giant continued his search. Of all of the Hands, the Hand of the Halcyon Wardens had always been regarded with mixed views by the rest of the Legion. To some, it was one of the most coveted positions in the entire Imperium. A Warden Hand was one of the few positions that was guaranteed to involve repeated and continuous interactions with their gene-sire. While the Legion Equerry often carried the Primarch's words to his sons, the Legion Hand could expect to have the Primarch's ear whenever the Warmaster was settled on Terra. For the more politically-inclined Wardens, it was a tremendous opportunity to learn from the master himself. In private, Alexandros was more than happy to help develop talents and skills of his sons. Yet, it carried its own disadvantages as well. While it was an opportunity to spend time with the Warmaster, it meant taking on a very passive role during the sessions with the other Hands, for who could better represent the Fifth better than the Voice of Terra himself? Furthermore, whenever the Warmaster had departed for the Great Crusade's front lines, the work of a Warden Hand dramatically shifted as they now had to fill the boots of the Warmaster, yet be mindful of accusations of preferential treatment and lording their privilege over their cousins. Were it not for the Warmaster's tutelage, Gaius could easily imagine a long series of Warden Hands being overwhelmed by the incredible fluctuations of activity that also required an extremely deft hand to maintain the delicate balance between timidity and audacity. The Insurrection would end this decades-old practice, as it did with so many things.
