Now I have the rest of the month to finish out the leftovers from October... and a banner bearer... and magnetizing my knight...

Right. About time that I made my own vow.

In addition to the Seeker Squad from last month, this month I'll be painting a 10-man Cataphractii Terminator Squad and Contemptor Dreadnought, both partly painted. I'll post pictures... tomorrow, I think.

Not tomorrow anymore, but here:

Alright then. Time to get everything updated.

Eidolon’s Weekly Update (Week 7)

Folks,

Well another week down and it looks like we still have a problem….

All change on Prospero – I got the recipe wrong on my next batch of 1k Sons, which led me to question the scheme on my test model, I then spotted this lovely Ruby Red, and well, had to have a bash…

http://i66.tinypic.com/vb48o.jpg

http://i67.tinypic.com/j6r1o0.jpg

I do think I might have to revise the list to incorporate some sons….

Review of Last Week.

I have made a concerted effort to actually do my vow!!

I’m doing a large batch of pouches and grenades to stick on my tactical squad to make them look war-ry as funk! ECs have to have all the Guchi kit!!

Made a little more progress on the speeder – couldn’t face the vehicle it’s self but maybe once these guys are done…..

http://i66.tinypic.com/v4xr2a.jpg

I have been working a lot on the Apothecary and am pleased to say he’s done! I’ll finish his base off and attach him, but ran out of time and didn’t want to rush things!

http://i63.tinypic.com/ao4cjr.jpg

I’ll take some better pics of him next week.

Plans for this Week.

Well aside from trying not to get distracted with Thousand Sons…..

I have actually made a start on the Praetor’s detailing, so I’ll get some WIPS up soon, hopefully I’ll find his missing helmet crest, which stymied progress on him!

I’ll get transfers on the Speeder crew and certainly finish them off, then time to convert the speeders weaponry.

Tac Squad should almost be done, I did the Sgts power weapon the same time as Von Kalda’s, so once the accessories are painted up they can be attached and that’ll have me with 10 complete tac marines!! msn-wink.gif Vows might be achieved this month! Lol

Future Prep.

I’m probably going to just play around with odds and ends, I’ve actually got an Alpha Legionary on the go, so all bets are off when it comes to planning stuff!! If I can utilize bits from the Prospero box, I might be able to do my crazy MKIII destroyers!!

When you're done painting him, paint my plastic dude men next.

I'm having a hard time doing white, how do you get away with that crisp look?

It's a mega pain in the ass! Haha, I use an off-white mix of white and ice blue, then shade with a more ice blue in the mix, then use really thin layers of the base, adding more and more white. I prefer to airbrush it, as it's quicker and easier, but the knee pads were all brush work!

To be fair, I'd be very tempted to paint up your Apothecaries!! msn-wink.gif

So I'm thinking if when my pay is in next week if I pick up 3 of these, the likelihood of converting them into contemptor dreadnought heavy bolters.

To achieve this I was thinking if I do a cut along the top and remove the section with iconography and along the back piping I should be able to plasticard up a joint from a normal contemptor close combat arm.

So my friends thoughts on this endeavour

I think the concept sounds like a blast Kurama... Wondering what a 'lay is in next week' is¿;)

Should just be able to add the blast master bolter at the top left to the temptor elbow joint with a lil GSfu.

We had a fantastic day temp wise- 65 and sunny and I had 90 minutes of free time to break out the airbrush... And it was sputtering like a champ. Threaded in a brand new moisture trap, adjusted my psi, thinned my paints like a boss... And after 30 minutes I had good red brown spray for my 6 allied blood angels and a pre shading color on my rhinos, Spartan and jetbikes.

Cleaned everything real good, chased the dog, poured in the yellow and mixed it real good and... Back to sputtering. Adjusted my needle, sprayed a bunch of thinner and it was a sputtering fool.

Broke out my baneblade urban combat vehicle and sprayed it with the spottering and sputtering as that tank is going to be the weathering master for sure.

Broke the airbrush down, cleaned it up, looked at the Iwata eclipse hp-cs and dreamed of the fun stuff that might allow.

(I have a pasche airbrush now and it's good... When it works:()

Well the pictures aren't the greatest, but I'm happy to say the first part of a vow is done!!

Von Kalda was an Apothecary of the Emperor's Children during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy. A follower of Fabius Bile and Eidolon's Equerry, following the fall of the Legion on Isstvan III Von Kalda began to explore the limits of torture, mutilation, and Daemonic rituals.

My take on him here is he is still nominally loyal, but perhaps the rot has started.....

Great idea! I think it will work. I've got bits of guitar wire for cabling projects, I was going to make a Sonic Predator before I got myself a one way ticket on the heresy train!!

Alright, guys - sorry to have been very quiet the last week. I am applying for a new position at work and this combined with my fysiotherapy and general recovery from my slipped disc is taking up a lot of my time. I did manage to finished a unit this month so far, though: the biker unit.

Tadaa:

VIII Assault Biker Squad

Consisting mostly of relatively young astartes, VIII Assault Biker squad functions as Fifth Company's a shock assault unit. It is frequently deployed in missions where decisive blows to enemy elite units and armour is required. The unit has developed a friendly rivalry with VII Assault Biker squad, a sentiment that is encouraged by Sergeant Langsdov.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/WP_20161115_019_zpsgj9rf0bv.jpg

Veteran Sergeant - Askel Langsdov - Lord Commander Eidolon

As a promising initiate, Sergeant Langsdov was inducted into 8th Company, where he quickly rose to the rank of Sergeant. He was noted by his superiors for his inspiring leadership and battlefield cunning, displaying an aptitude for precision strikes. As such, Captain Landa requested him specifically to take command of VIII Assault Squad, after the death of its former Sergeant. Despite some initial reluctance by the rest of the squad to accept a new member in their ranks, Langsdov has proven himself to be an inspiring leader. His years of service, combined with his friendly rivalry with the commanding officer of VII squad, Sergeant Yegar, have earned him the respect and friendship of VIII Squad.

Weapon Specialist - Horatio Ghaer - Obscura

Specialist Ghaer is a vindictive astartes, who is known for swearing to kill specific enemy leaders or destroy specific enemy vehicles on his oaths of moment, often with elaborate descriptions of how and when he will perform those actions. As such, he has grown into an invaluable asset to Sergeant Langsdov - his determination easily converts into planning out the tactical issues of specific missions.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/BIker%20Squad%202%20Weapon%20Specialist%202_zpsnheggbpz.jpg

Weapon Specialist - Kato Ikaeinade - Kurama

The youngest member of VIII squad, it quickly became obvious that Specialist Ikaeinade would be at his best if given a destroyer function. He has quickly adopted to his role as a weapons specialist, and has proven himself an excellent shot, being laureled for crippling and immobilizing enemy vehicles on numerous occasions.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/BIker%20Squad%202%20Weapon%20Specialist%201_zpsnb49qqtv.jpg

Comms Specialist - Sierad Gault Uveron

Where Brother Ghaer´s strengths are in tactical acumen, it is Comms Specialist Gault who is valued most in the squad for his Strategic insights. His calculating character aids him in analysing the enemy's movements. It is these perks that have earned him a reputation as a cunning strategist, not just in his own squad, but in the entire Assault division of 5th Company.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/BIker%20Squad%202%20Comms%20Officer_zpsyn4y9ips.jpg

Battle Brother - Estedan Slaega - SW1

Brother Sleaga is the soul of VIII squad. Being the oldest member, Slaega was initially hesitant to accept a far younger commanding officer, and one from a different company to boot. He quickly warmed to Sergeant Langsdov, though, and has offered his experience to his Sergeant with grace. Sleaga often offers words of conservatism to balance Langsdov´s eagerness to meet the enemy, offering alternative tactics with graveful words of wisdom.

I hope you like 'm. Thanks for naming them to the five who have named these guys. Feedback welcome.

@ Kurama: I'll be the odd one out and ask why not just buy the normal Dreadnought Twin Heavy Bolters if you're not going for the iconography?

It looks like everyone's had another productive weekend ;) awesome work all around. I didn't get quite as much time In this weekend as I'd have liked thanks to family being in town. I did however start adding final touches to ancient Iram. And the nameless contemptor got a name thanks to my oldest daughter.

He will be known as ancient Alexion now to decide about the beamer I'm seriously considering chopping it up and building some more choom what do you guys think?

So I said the TDA was finished but then spotted I'd missed a few bits. Here's him finally finished:

gallery_25187_12379_39512.jpg

The black is showing a bit closer to what it looks like in person.

So that's now a total of 855 points for the challenge ...

605 points for the Inquisitors and Priests

190 points for the Watch Master

60 points for the TDA

Next up is 5 Custodian Guards for 260 points ...

Ooo ... I've picked up the 4 plastic assassins for £27.50!!! Not sure on points for them but I'm guessing somewhere in the 500 points region? They are likely to be up after the golden boys get done and then there's the golden ladies to do as well.

Maybe I'm better of alternating between DW and these?

Uverons Weekly Update 6th Week.

Review of last week.

That was the week that was; Between the US Elections and an Uptick in Seismic Activity in Oklahoma, painting fell to the wayside slightly. But I saw that coming so it’s not a huge deal to this months plan. I do have a week off coming up and should be able to finish my 1st vow of the month, my Call of Chaos Vow and may be even start 2nd Vow for the month.

Anyway this is the one and only WIP picture I have this month, did some basic color blocking and basing on my Assassin. Should get it done with a few more hours work to add in some tones and depth to the colors.

gallery_63905_11231_114977.jpg

Plans for this week.

I need to get this Assassin finished so I can finish my Call of Chaos Vow. But given the fact I will spend another week stuck in the office, I expect I shall also try and do some more editing on my fluff for the chapter (Check it out what I have so far here), and while I think of it I am still trying to name all my marines you can see that list HERE and it would be great if everyone reading this can join in and help me pick some names.. Pick a 2nd if you want. Would love to get the scout squads and named, and the combat squad with the Melta-gun.

I was fortunate enough to get gifted a ton of SM/IG that were either NIB or left overs from previous projects, my plan is to eventually litter the battlefield with enough corpses so as to make the table more believable as games of 40/30k are usually depicted as ever evolving battlefields of asymmetrical warfare and casualties of some sort would always be left behind given the rather cold disconnected approach to life and death.

Plus I already have enough SM/IG armies and I've gifted enough to people to start their own 1000 point armies ( they never play ), figure I should at least use the rest to fulfill my version of the WH narrative.

I just need to pick up more 30k Mk shoulder pads, those things are stupid expensive. . .
