Going for really muted look but it doesn't work at 28mm. So need to add more contrast. So visor glass is going to be red, the tastle on the knife will go brighter and the scope will have red lightning which will add a triangle of red.

Born amongst the vassals of the Terrawatt Clan, brought up amongst the great steel clad and rad-fueled forges of the Ural Mountains, the boy known then as Rion-43 was selected as one of the aspirants for the tribute payments. These payments, hundreds of genetically-strong young adults and children were given to the Emperor for his use, along with cruel weapons of war and conquest for his armies. Going through intensive and bloody training under both Custodian Guard, and the more cohesive Thunder Warriors, those who survived from these tributes became the first of the Space Marines. The Angels of Death.

Reborn as a Legionnaire, Dumah, sorted into the second Host of the ‘Six Hosts of the Angels of Death’ bore his new name with as much purpose as his blackened plate and deadly weapons. Fighting alongside the early Legion, Thunder Warriors, Custodes and even Emperor on occasion in some of the harshest battles of the Unification Wars he proved himself capable time and time again, earning praises from allies and brothers alike, rising to the rank of Lance-Decurion; one of the handful of leaders of the Host.

At the peak of the Unification however Dumah fell amongst the barren wastelands of Hy Brasil as a counter-attack force of millions of psi-shackled conscripts and elite Dracos soldiery, the last in a desperate gambit to prevent the Imperial forces from reaching Dalmoth Kyn’s seat of power. As disintegration weaponry lanced out from the Legion’s lines, it was met in kind by vortex cannons, bi-phage projectors and other weapons of atrocity. Nuclear weapons were used in last ditch attempts to slow down the implacable Angels, the blasts costing hundreds of thousands of lives on both sides, and splitting the very continent they were used on. Almost the entire second Host was wiped out in the conflict, a sixth of the total legion forces at that time. Though through the sacrifice, the push was halted and within the week, Hy Brasil fell to the Emperor.

Rescued as one of the few who lived yet at the end of the conflict, the imperial forces found Dumah’s body addled with radiation and cancer, broken beyond repair, even for the skilled gene-forgers and bio-technicians. But he yet lived. Interred in one of the first experimental contemptor-pattern dreadnoughts, his mind was brought back screaming from the pain as body and metal became one. With sophisticated life-support modules preventing the last of his living flesh succumbing to the decay that had ravaged him, he was reborn a second time, brought back from death itself.

With the armour still in development and subject to alteration, the contemptor chassis Dumah now resided in would later be known to have more similarities with that of the Contemptor-Cortus suits created during the Ullanor Crusade than the true Contemptors created during the early years of the Great Crusade, once contact had been re-established with the forges of Mars. Later transference of Dumah to a more suitable dreadnought was found to be unfeasible, with the neural shock of such an action quite likely to end the worn mind, and kill one of the oldest surviving members of the Legion.

Winning countless battles through the years of the Great Crusade, Dumah proved his worth in both front-line combat and imparting the wisdom accrued through centuries of war. By the time of the Horus Heresy, though it’s outer layers were updated and strengthened, the inner workings, life support, and complex neural strata were worn and frayed. It was obvious to the legion’s techmarines, apothecaries, and the occupant himself that by another century whatever remained of the honourable warrior within would be faded and gone. His mind broken, and body finally wrought through with lesions and cancerous tissue, Dumah would suffer unending, living in unescapable torment in the realms of his own broken sanity.

It could be seen as a mercy then, perhaps, that Dumah fell only a handful of years later. Sent along with the bulk of the Dreadwing to the Thramas Sector to combat the delaying actions of the VIIIth legion, Lance-Decurion Dumah of the Dreadwing would die amongst the rubble and ruin of Tsagualsa. His chassis would later be recovered from the piles of fallen Night Lords, and ceremonially burnt in purifying flame to mark the passing of one of the oldest of the Legion.

So I've not completed the Assassins and I've started painting up some DW. :(

I've also got even more hobby butterflyish and started building my SW Legion force. I'm forcing myself to not start painting them until after the challenge is completed. But this does mean I will be building them as an ongoing thing from now on.

So no excuses this month I'm going to complete the assassins and 5 DW in March. If that gets done I have another 5 DW started. Black has been airbrushed. Metals and reds blocked in and initial wash applied.

Okay so March just dropped here in the Land Down Under Down Under and that means I am three marines short of completing my second vow for Feb but at least I completed something.  This brings me onto the purpose of this update:

I, Brother SP, vow that this shall be Motorpool March.  I shall complete (along with the three guys left from last month) two Rhinos and a Razorback armed with a twin linked Lascannon coming to about 165 Points.  When all these are done it shall bring me to approximately 1720 of 1850 Points.  So close I can almost taste it...

Just to give totals/summary of where I'm at ...

Finished:

Inquisitor with 10 Priests - 605 points

DW Watch Master - 190 points

DW TDA - 60 points

5 Custodes - 260 points

Total finished: 1,115 points

I've also been working on some (11 teams worth) other models that I can't share via the B&C due to them being Bloodbowl related.

Now since my last post (yes it was an hour or so ago) I've been thinking about how I've currently been painting and what's got the most out of myself in my current headspace. One thing that's certain is that I just don't currently have the focus to finish certain models and if I do force myself to stick to completing certain models I'll let the quality slip. While I may not be the way the challenge was set up going forward I'm just going to work on whatever takes my fancy and what I end up finishing will be posted. This way I'll be able to get as much production out of myself as possible without letting my quality slip.

This bit is really important as I'm not wanting to rebuild/repaint anything I produce from now on. Its been getting me a bit demotivated that models I'd done last ETL for my SW Legion don't quite fit what I now have in mind for them. Weapon load outs not being right or pack icons not being right. So this week has found me breaking up models and rebuilding them. Just wish I'd used more superglue than plastic cement as some are being difficult.

So The B&C friendly models I'm currently painting:

All 4 Assassins

DW Kill Team Kickass:

Sergeant - thunder hammer and shield

Blackshield - power sword and power maul

2x Vet - shotgun

2x Vet - shotgun and shield

3x Vet - heavy thunder hammer

Vet - heavy baseball bat (aka heavy thunder hammer)

I've also got built/part built/sat ready to build:

60ish DW of many different flavours in PA and TDA

5 Sister of Silence

10 Grey Slayers with shield

40 Grey Slayers with bolter

SW Legion Standard Bearer

10 Deathsworn

20 Destroyers

Lol ... I think my hobby mojo is currently stuck in build stuff mode. But it's likely to swing back to paint more stuff soon.

Oh Christ. They're looking amazing. Ridiculously so. MKIII helm guy is probably my fave but they're all perfect, between the yellow, poses, and smooth colours.

Lion: Spartan's coming along really well, should look boss once its (even more) weathered. If there's any criticism I could level, it would be that the tracks could use a bit of a highlight in areas, just a slightly lighter metal, in my opinion.

Now onto march. I vow to complete one lightning strike fighter with (2x Storm charges, 2x Kraken missiles, 2x Sunfury missiles, Servitor control, Auguries) - for 220 points.

IAM BACK!!

Well mostly, AOS and work has still eaten a lot of my brain. (Still out on rig, day 23 away from home). Next few days I am going to work out what I need to do to get my Blood Angles to 1850 pts (So I can start losing comp games with them!).

First up I think will be my final 5 Scouts.

Therefore; I Uveron Vow to complete: 5 Scouts with a Sergeant, 2 Scouts with Shotguns, and 2 Scouts with Combat Blades for a total point cost of 55pts.

Isn't a combination of work and AoS like a zombie, Uveron? :p

Here's my vow this month:

March Vow

I, Augustus b'Raass, vow on the honour of the Emperor, Dorn and my humble self to paint at least a ten-man squad of Assault Marines with two flamers and a veteran sergeant armed with an eviscerator and meltabombs, and a ten-man squad of Devastators with four Grav-Cannons and grav amps, for a total of 460 points out of a lot of points before the end of this month. Failure will damn me to paint these units at a later date. ohmy.png

Here's a WiP pic of all marines in various state of WiP.

So turns out this was not meant to be my month the RL drama and complications keep rolling in it seems grandfather Nurgle has decided to take up residence in my residence and there's yet to be a week this month where someone in the house isn't sick. On top of that I've started being Garnished at work thanks to some medical bills I neglected to pay when I was in college meaning on top of the almost %30 of my paycheck the government normally takes they're taking an extra %20 effectively wrecking me financially :( so while I'm trying to sort everything out and try to find either a better paying job or a second one my hobby time has taken a pretty big hit and the thought of a hobby budget at this moment is a ridiculously sad joke. So unfortunately things will probably be pretty slow here hobby wise so as much as it pains me to do I think I'm gonna have to bow out fellas. I just want to thank you all very much it's been an awesome experience and I've learned a lot. Keep up the awesome work fellas

So much yellow on this page biggrin.png Great work from everyone as usual!

I missed the end of month post, so I shall make my vow now!

***Complete one Cerastus-Knight Atrapos by the end of the month, armour and all! This will complete my pledged army of roughly 1800points dependent on Knight ranks taken etc.***

I got around to prepping the parts last night and giving him life, I've gone for a more menacing pose to match his lethality and rank as the warbands Cheiftain. Let me know what you think!

Eidolon’s Weekly Update (Week 19,20,21)

Hi Folks,

Well it has been a while and I am disturbed by the amount of yellow on display here.....

I have been a little slack on the whole updating for a while. Lots of stuff going on, and sadly progress has stalled, if not for a lack of trying. I have however failed miserably with February’s vow!! I don’t even think I properly made a vow!!

Review of Last Few Weeks.

Ancient Kurama is pretty much done – despite my best efforts at self sabotage!! I’ve actually re-done the head since the pic and kneepads, I wasn’t happy with the eyes or the silver! I’ve been back and forth re-glazing the pink as it wasn’t pink enough! I mean, if you are going to paint marines pink, it does need to be obscene!!

I’d got to the point where I was about to call him done only to find out the magnetization of him caused a major headache, once the missile launcher was added it had a tendency to over balance. I have however reticifed the ball joint at the waist of the beast, I am just attempting to hollow out bits at the back and counterbalance the front with ball bearings.

So, once that’s taken care of, I’ll add some scorch marks to the las cannons, re touch the gold rivets and add the cables!! Fingers crossed it gets done!! Here he is as it stood on Saturday post surgery on the magnets!!

http://i66.tinypic.com/34do31v.jpg

So, now I have been distracted by the Thousand Sons, again this caused me some nerd rage, and the whole lot of the ones I’d painted up got stripped! I went a little crazy with did a one off model I was showing a friend how to paint metalics, I used the wrong red and couldn’t figure out why my existing ones didn’t match, so I get tinkering and well, the rest is a date with simple green and alcohol!!

I’ve batch painted the base colours on 9 marines, a Sorcerer Sgt and 5 Sekmet Termie conversions, so a lot has been done, however not that much is finished!!

Here is a sneak peak!

http://i63.tinypic.com/296f3fd.jpg

I have of course still got a EC contemptor to get on with.

As I need to actually vow, I will go for 2 Apothecaries! I am going to use a Kakophoni base for one, as homage to one of Obscura’s minis and I’ll do a more loyalist version; It is essentially a re-do of one I did for the ETL but the pink wasn’t pink enough!!

http://i66.tinypic.com/nd96s7.jpg

Plans for this Week.

I’m definitely going to get the Deredeo done this week, fingers crossed it’ll properly balance or else it’ll be flung somewhere….

I’d like to finish off a few more sons, particularly a couple of termies – I’ve actually done the white stripes and highlighted the gold a little more

Future Prep

I doing the Sons for the Loyalty and Treachery, so shall try to get a wriggle on with them! I have also got some more jump packs so shall look to get my Assault squad moving!!

[David Attenburough voice] It is mating season for Thunderbolt Fighters. This male specimen has just finished building its nest and has started its display dance; the yellow of its nest's tower-like construction reflecting that of its marvelously coloured panoply. What a splendid display of mother nature´s sexual phenotyping! [/David Attenburough voice]

[Tweety voice] I thought I thaw a puthycat! [/tweety voice]

Ok I'll stop now. tongue.png

Haha I'd love to hear it! Bring it!  :D

Tower looks surprisingly good in yellow and black, btw. At first I couldn't imagine it, but it kinda grows on you, doesn't it? Must've something to do with it being out legion's colour. ;)

Long weekend almost over and I am quite happy with my progress, my initial goal was to get all the base colours and highlights done on the Knight chassis and armour panels...I went a bit further and weathered and sealed them as well. I might go ahead and do some oils tonight if I get time!

gallery_81212_9961_350189.jpg

gallery_81212_9961_874574.jpg

And that brings me to the next Knight, which admittedly is a new issue...I ordered doubles of the Acheron so I had spare weapons/head and so I could use the main chassis with a Magaera kit...problem is, and I didn't realize until I got round to actually working on my Acheron, the chainblade arm has a few extra pistons and stuff that will affect the build. So, not sure what to make of that just yet. I could chop it up, but right now I am thinking that the Magaera is such a lackluster Knight that maybe I could goof around and make a standard Knight on the chassis, that will be something I need to look into as I have no idea about the GW Knights or their rules/weapons.

Yes to that aug... I did not know for sure at all if the glorious yellow would work upon the Bastian. Of course that means I had doubt and a lack of :-). Looking at the pics realize I probably should have hit it with another layer of yellow.

rangaman... I absolutely love the aggressiveness of that pose! Looking forward to seeing what you do with an imperial night :-) I have an Archeon and Vader almost all the way assembled and I am wanting to make her eyes my Imperial night to match the other two. Looking forward to see what you come up with
