So an interesting tid-bit from the Rubrics datasheet that came out yesterday. The "All is Dust" rule:

 

 

Add 1 to the saving throws for Rubric Marines if the attack has a Damage Characteristic of 1. In addition, the -1 modifier for moving and shooting with a Heavy Weapon does not apply to Rubric Marines.

 

This rule basically makes Rubric marines have a 2+ save and effectively ignore any AP of 1 (reverting them back to a normal 3+ save) against damage 1 weapons (so any small arms).

 

NOW - if a scarab terminator had this rule (which they may well do as they are Rubrics too), unless there is a "1 always fails" rule, they would be immune to small arms fire, unable to roll lower than a 2 on the dice.

 

The Heavy Weapons thing is also basically relentless in all but name (though we don't know if firing a heavy weapon still prevents charges, so that's an interesting change if so).

 

It's an interesting rule, as it could quite easily be ported over to any other terminator with a different name to give them the same small arms fire protection.

Riptorn realities is an invuln save, Tunneler between realities is deep strike, and Aether burrow is something like Gate of Infinity.

I have a feeling our Terminators will have pseudo-Feel No Pain and an invulnerable save that protects against modifiers.

That and 2 wounds apiece means my Cataphractii Terminators will be feared on the table!

Space Marines should be. Most armies have units that make opponents go "snap there's X unit!" Marines for too haven't had that.

We allow people to take mixed squads . But then we hb some of our rules anyway .

Shouldn't mix. In 7th it doesn't really work because they nerf each other.

Cataphractii stop Tartaros from sweeping, also stop them from overwatch or running so Indomnitus doesn't work either, etc.

Maybe it will work in 8th

Yeah if you want to go by the book . But we do our own thing once in awhile . We have a lot of laughs and have had some great games .

From the Daemons article we know FNP is back, if anything in an even stronger form. Nuglings flat out ignore wounds on a 5 or 6 - no mention of double S cancelling it (though that could just be a choice omission).

 

I like the idea of the X unit - but sadly for Marines right now it's Grav Centurions with Tigurius for instant moving around.

Does anyone know if invulnerable saves are taken after armour now or instead of? I'm sure I remember reading something about it somewhere but I haven't been able to find it again, so not sure if it is Tzeentch trickery and I have imagined it or just missed it

They're instead of, similar to now in that if the AP reduces your save to below it you've always got your invulnerable. So short of mortal wounds (boo) a 5++ means your save will never be worse than a 5+ smile.png
