TALE - Just Because

Who can match up with Alpharius? Wondering who's the best match for Pionus.

I'd suggest we play with it a little; let's not just have people restrict themselves to simply the best match for their Primarch, if there's a thematic thing they could use.

Morro could match with Alpharius. Didn't they started as Alpha Legion Chapter anyway? Besides from them I have atm none in my mind ( although Dune Serpents and Predators use Sabotage, none of them use the elememt of confusing all^^)

Oh gwal and sang were best friends but the blood angels murdered also his sons...interesting. I would have chosen angron vs gwal as both are primarch of the xiith and are complete opposites.

Hec plus sang works too because of their flaws.

Gwal vs Russ would work too.

I was considering Sanguinius for Gwal because they are the two high-minded idealists with undertones of ethereal-ness. Both of them are removed by an extra step away from humanity, whether it's Sanguinius' angelic demeanor or Gwal's Pariah nature and his mask. Both of their legions (if I understand the Wardens of Light right) are close combat exemplars with a strong 'serve humanity' streak.

Thinking more on it, going by the first story, it's really supposed to be a comparison between Primarchs who held similar roles in the Great Crusade. After all, both Horus and Alex are appointed during the Great Crusade, and that's all that really ties them together. In terms of personality, they stand pretty far apart on the spectrum, while their natures of psyker and mundane don't align as well.

It's also what makes the stories interesting, to show how far apart two beings can go even when they start at roughly the same points.

Unfortunately, outside of Warmaster, there's no other meaningful title of the Great Crusade, making the other comparisons much harder. However, having a better idea of what the parameters are for the comparison, I think Sanguinius should be compared to Icarion. Both operate as the right-hand man for the Warmaster. Alex's reliance on Icarion is obvious, whereas Horus relies on Sanguinius heavily during the first few years of his tenure as Warmaster.

Andezo got the twins? oO

You're sending the blind one against two Primarchs? How should they stand a chance against him? Bit unfair. :tongue.:

Regarding roles during the Crusade, I would suggest that the Predators fulfill the role of the White Scars. Hunting within the Imperium instead at its borders. Being outsiders. Savage but noble culture, etc.

Afterall, the Predators are a mixture of the Scars and the Night Lords.

The Lion, while taciturn, was one of the greatest strategists and swordsmen of this era. Although secretive, he won a great many for the Imperium to the point where Guilliman envied him and believed he was the only other logical choice for Warmaster.

So, who fits that description? And which meeting would people like me to write next?

I feel like Jade might actually fit with the Lion better than Perturabo. Although both are loners who share a logical approach to war and an appreciation for science, the similarities kind of end there. Meanwhile, when compared to the Lion, they are both mysterious, taciturn men, martial champions, leading a legion of monastic warriors. Both are kind of outsiders, have few close friends among their brothers, are superb tacticians, but when it comes to battle they are the kind of warrior who prefer to get their hands dirty.

And their loyalty can be seen as...dubious, depending on your viewpoint.

Fair arguments. I've revised the list. So, do we have anyone who lines up well with Perturabo? As far as the Great Crusade was concerned, Perturabo was the siege and garrison specialist. He treated his sons like numbers in an advanced equation, always aiming for peak efficiency. And was generally disregarded by the general public, much to his ire.

You may not always know their name but you understand the Wardens of Light. Never was I more happy.

But now that Sanguinius is gone who to fit for Gwal? Okay I can see perturabo work. He sigs himself up in trench warfare while gwal tries to end it quick. Perturabo resignates ober his fate where Gwal gets out of the depression and rejoins.

For the lion i would say icarion fits. Both are great tscticians. Both exemplary swordsman. Olay. That was ot^^

That'd be Yucahu, though equating him with Ferrus is equally just. Ferrus and Yucahu don't care about being disregarded, unlike Perturabo.

And given their elusive nature, I'd connect Jackel with Alpharius, for the same reason we did link him to Coch'ise back in the days: "who the hell is that-ness".

I don't like that particular argument for Jackel because it relies so much on a meta lack of information. Still, I'll slide Alpharius into there.

And I added Pert to Yucahu, but didn't remove Ferrus just yet because I don't know who fits him better. Who is our ruthless tech wizard with anger management issues or closest equivalent?

Or, how about the reverse. Who does, if anyone, Morro most closely resemble in canon? Given the specialty for hazardous environments and a connection to a mythical being of fear and power, I think Mortarion might be a better fit than Koschei.
